304-top 304. Here's the host for metronoos hotline, Dave Weekly. All right, welcome back to the show, 506 in West Virginia. Time to start the third and final hour of our program today. Metronoos hotline. Thanks for so much for tuning in today, folks. We got a lot of stuff to get done before we get out of here at six o'clock, but I think we're up to it. I think we're going to be able to do it. It's a tickets Tuesday. I think maybe I've been burying the lead a little bit on that. We got a tickets Tuesday coming at the bottom of the hour, 533. And if you've never experienced the tickets Tuesday, here's how it works. You get on the air with me. You pick a category, the categories rotate. Today's categories are WVU football, star trek, and the mystery category. All right, those are your categories. You pick one of those categories. You get on the air with me. You get a multiple choice question, answer it correctly. And you're going to be on your way to see the Cincinnati Reds play the Cubs in Cincinnati. That is going to be what's the date on this
coop? The Sunday is September 20th. The 20th. It's a Sunday. And it's a one. It's a 140 start at great American ballpark. You know, let me write that down 920 on a Sunday. And this is it. This is the end of our Reds tickets. So, coop, last time we had Reds tickets, technically, the winner was supposed to get four, but Mike from Oak Hill kicked back to remember. He only took two. Yeah, that's right. So we'll see how that works today. So if you, if you answer the question correctly, you could have four or maybe you'll take two and maybe we'll have a couple of winners. Anyway, we'll open up the phone lines for these tickets at 525 after we play in or out the phone number. Here's a little different than the text line. The phone number here is 800 76582581765 Okay, we'll do that at 533 today. Also, don't forget, if you're in our hotline fantasy football league, our draft on Yahoo is tonight at 730. I'm on the league. Coops in the league will be drafting
tonight at 730. That's because the NFL regular season begins tomorrow. So be aware of that. Oh, look who's here. Anthony Lewis, our Mountaineer insider, where you made it back from the game. Survived Morgantown. There you go. It's it's changed. That's easier said than done, frankly. It's changed so much from my 20s to my 50s. Oh, you'll probably be able to weigh on this. Our question of the day, question of the day and it's sponsored by Solango law. The 60th anniversary of Star Trek is officially celebrated today, marking six decades since the man trap episode first aired on NBC in 1966. Here's the hotline question of the day sponsored by Solango law. Who was your favorite captain of the enterprise on Star Trek and his Star Trek underrated or gulp overrated? All right. Who's your favorite captain of the enterprise on Star Trek and his Star Trek underrated or overrated? And we have a ton of responses. We'll get into more of your
responses a little bit later on in the hour. You're Star Trek guy. I'm a Star Wars guy. Star Wars guy. But I can't weigh in from my days from Fox 11 airing deep space nine. Oh yeah. I'm a Picard guy. Only probably only because I know a lot of people that have done some purse like some work with William Shatner. I've heard some stories. Good stories are bad stories. So Alene attend to shy away from him. He's I don't know. I don't want to sit on statewide radio and bad mouth of man. They can't defend himself. But I've just heard stories. I'm a Picard guy. And it's funny to hear that because he like he's the only surviving Yeah. Star Trek star from the original series. Well you know what they say Dave? Oh, the good guy young. That's I've heard you know what? Let me write that down. That's pretty that's pretty clever. Thank you. That's very good. Belled me out there. All right. We'll hear also from Richard Rodriguez W.V.S. football coach in the second half hour. He had his regularly scheduled media availability today and they made a little news today. A little bit of news made today.
Let's see. What do we got going here? Prince drawn. We'll be back for the Virginia game. I've been questions about that. Jocari Thomas. Yeah. Hey, surprise. Let's get into the the free agent pool, right? And grab the former Georgia Bulldog defensive back starter last year for for a guy. He's in school just arrived yesterday, according to Rich Rod. So we'll hear some comments from him a little bit. Also, Wiley needs surgery, Darius Wiley awful injury, terrible. And they're trying to get that surgery done as quickly as possible. Hopefully get him back next next season. Yeah. Let me ask you. You were at the game. Yes. All right. What did you take? Let's start with a pat white cell ceremony. What did you think of that? Fantastic. Of course, the athletic department has always done a great job with these. Their first class. They're kind of kind of the same ceremony, but I sent a picture or I got a pick Craig Allison, the local photographer here in Charleston,
took a shot of Pat that I thought was the the the the the trademark photo from the day. And it's of Pat like kind of like saying thank you. And you could see he was a little emotional. And the fans showed up. They wore their white tons of pat white old school jerseys. I even saw a picture on Twitter. Those are a gentleman that had taken I guess he was basically like a little guy like under five at the time and had his childhood jersey that he used to wear as a child. And he said one more trip to Mountaineer Field from old Pat white jersey. So people just showed up to support Pat white and basically solidify him and immortalize him on the wall. So you know, I've known Pat for a while now and it really couldn't happen to a better guy. So this is this I really didn't think these two things would be related. But because the ceremony for white was before kickoff, there are a lot of people already in their seats when Cam Cook had the long run. Yeah, right? Yeah. Cause that was a plus. Yeah. So how many times have you gone to a game? It's like, well,
I'm trying to run in from the tailgate and I've missed the kickoff or whatever. Chances are the majority of the fans were already in the stadium when Cook made his first carry made a one to remember. And I feel like they bumped it back at hair because it was supposed to happen right at 1145, recording their schedule. And it was like went with like six minutes to go. It was like, this is the band kind of did rap. I thought they're going to have the band stop and then do it. But either it was a great ceremony. When Cook took that thing, the first thing I thought, I literally had instant flashbacks in 96 pit. And I said to myself, is he getting ready to pull his airway? Right. Is he getting ready to pull his airway? And I even joked with Ava on yesterday as we were doing some radio stuff and said he doesn't have the airway speed. He's got Ava on speed. He agreed because he goes, he's quick like me and I can't catch him in a phone booth. But North South, we're about the same. And that was always kind of, I don't know, man.
Ava ran a 4.7 on pro day. Yeah. That's not blazing speed. I don't know, man. I think Cook might be fast. He's probably a little faster, but the same principle. That was slating or divine or any of those guys. He was to the house. You know, we were just talking at 4.33 about the mountain state collectors convention. And you can have this debate with Ava on because he's going to be there. Yeah. He's going to be there. He's going to come and sign some stuff. I actually just ordered some Detroit Lions cards. Nice. Nice. Well, the other thing about Ava and he had to really enjoy Cook's performance because first game out of the shoot, he got he got 30 carries. They let the big boy eat. That's what we said. I said, it was very Ava on Copern like he got caught from behind and he carried the ball 30 times in the game. Ava knows I'm kidding. I say that. But yeah, 30 carries. That's right. How they have on Copern playbook. Sure as a workhorse. And people were you know, questioning. There's a lot of questions about Rich's approach to the game. I don't think he meant for Hawkins to get 20 carries and Cook to get. But Rich is very much one of those guys.
I'm only going to put the ball on the hands of guys that trust. So as the game got a little tighter and think the momentum swung, he wasn't going to do two things. Get out there and start throwing the ball around so you could throw a pick six or he wasn't going to give it to a young guy and letting fumble. So he just let's take the air out of it. Let's ride this thing out. A couple of things on that. Number one, Hawkins is not going to carry the ball 20 times every day. Okay. Nah. So that I think that was a little bit of a a miss no more. But here's the thing also. I was talking to Jeff Jenkins about this. I'm I've only seen one game. Okay. We've only seen Hawkins play one game. But I've watched a lot of quarterbacks this weekend. I mean the the game last night, the LSU, the SMU game games this weekend. I think the jury's what is Hawkins the kind of quarterback that can be a pro style passer who can drop back with seven minutes to go and take it down the field if you're down by 14 points. If he is, I didn't see that in the game against coastal. He
only threw the ball like 14 times. Yeah. 14 times the entire game only five times after half time. Right. For like 19 passing yards, we that's still an open question to me. Yeah. I mean, is he going to drive? Is he going to dink and dunk you down the field? I don't know. But I think that's where the the run game with him comes into right. You know, but so you've got to it's very anytime you've got a mobile what look what happened to us? If you got a mobile quarterback on the other side of the field and he could break contain and these guys can squirt out. I mean, how many times the detail back just kind of sneak down the field or some receiver just shake loose and cut across the middle. It's it's it's hard to defend a guy six, seven, eight, 10 seconds. So you've got to keep a guy contained. You know, the fact that what's this do Staley? Was that his name? Daily. Daily. Daily. Doose Bailey. I don't know. Do Staley. That's a running back. Doose Bailey. The fact that they pressured him 40 times and he was and I think they're the lines. PFF grade was like 30. I mean, they were in his face, but he's quick, man. It was quick. He was
breaking contain a lot and it's it makes it tough. I mean, he looked like Doug Flutey out there. Like, but the thing is about the game, um, you know, I was never in fear that West Virginia was going to lose the game, but I did not think that combined cook and Hawkins would have 50 of the 61 carries of the game. I was sure. And, you know, we had heard so much in the preseason about, well, the offensive line is better and it might be, but I mean, in the first game of the year, you'd think that we'd see some of the backups. We didn't see any of that stuff. That the first team guys played the entire game. Now this week should be different. Yeah. Right. And not to mention they didn't do them any favors by running into that loaded box. Well, that's true. You know, because the some of the, the, you know, observation was with offensive line. Isn't a better. I'm like, uh, did you count the did you count the box? Like they were loaded up. Like it's hard to run into that box, but that's, that's,
that's rich Rodriguez, man. Like he's, he's, he's historically done that. Like I'm just going to run it and we've seen him do it and, and cost himself a few games. I mean, look at South Florida. Right. I mean, there were times that he just kept running into that box. The, the other thing is, you know, I'd like to think I'm a half glass full kind of guy. And I really want to think more about what was going on in the first half. Right. But I think if you watch that game, I think it's kind of an open question, um, in the second half about, Mark Westridge, he's offensive line was having a little problem getting a push on that front of coastal Carolina. So they, they really, really, they were not able to run the ball effectively after half time. Um, they're going to have to get that fixed before they play UVA in a couple of weeks. I think so too. I think they, there are things that fix offensively defensively as well. Um, I'm, I don't, I'm not, people are panicked. I'm literally on a zero when it comes to panic. I just feel like panic. Yeah. Not for me. I've seen this before and then I kind of quieted a friend of mine. I said, listen to no five. They barely beat Syracuse 15 to set a bad Syracuse
team 15 to seven in the dome. I'll come it off of spanking them the year before. So, and they went on to beat George and the Sherable. So disparate lacks. They'll make some corrections offensively. I don't see. And also too, when you're just running, running, running, running, um, it is hard to continue to see just blow guys off the ball because you're not mixing up your offense. You know, there's no, you know, they're, you're just, you're just full tilt the entire time. I went back and watched it and was pretty impressed. You know, that, that run that Kevin, or, um, um, the first run off the side there, Kevin Brown took his guy out of the play and then the touchdown play, he panicked. It's his guy. Yeah. He, he looked, I mean, he does not look like a true freshman. Well, he's the, he is what's for doing his biggest offensive lineman, isn't he? Yeah. And it's crazy to think, and I even need to go and check and see if he's reclast. If he's reclast and he's supposed to technically be in high school, that kid is like, he needs to go. Uh, we need to, we need to test him because he must be related to Ivan Drago. Yeah, I really didn't have a
problem with his performance at all. He was fine. Uh, and I think we're going to see, you're going to see them blow the guy. There, this should be a pretty much a blowout game this weekend. We hope, and then the test comes after junior. Yeah. Stekka break and we'll come back. We'll play in a run just a moment. You can call us at 800 765 8255. They'll be talking about that at 533. All right, time now for in or out. Every day at this time we focus on this stuff. You talk about at the office we call it and are out. The setup is simple. Three categories. Food or beverage. Gut reaction. Finally, this one's about a celebrity. The topics of which change daily. Let's get started with food or beverage Cooper. Are you ready to go? Yeah, ready. Dairy Queen. Introducing two new limited time dipping sauces. The creamy, tangy, stripped dip and the
smoky ghost pepper dip both pair well with their chicken tenders and for a chicken strip basket meal including four strips fries of drink and one MVP dip it's available for $7. These dips if you buy them individually they're a buck their buck each. Dairy Queen dipping sauces. Strip dip, ghost pepper dip in or out. So these are available for retail. They're available at the location. Dairy Queen. I'm always interested in additional flavors to dip your chickeny things in and stuff like that. So sure I'll be I'll be in. All right. What do you think? Anthony, what are your thoughts on this? Dairy Queen's strip dip and ghost pepper dip 99 cents each at the location in a row. I'll be in on this. I made my return to Dairy Queen yesterday in Nitro. I did the St. Almond's one. First time I've been there in a year but the dips I'm always curious how good the dips are going
to be I'm anxious about the ghost pepper one. Right and sometimes with if I really like a dip like I'm McDonald's hot mustard. I'll get extra ones and just put them on other sandwiches at home. Here you go. Yeah sorry the dips are I'm a fan of the dips I'll be in on this. I have said for years that Dairy Queen lunch is totally underrated. Very much. Has been underrated for a long time. Trust the brand. Absolutely in on this. Absolutely in. Okay. Gut reaction is next. Brazilian woman in her late 30s has been convicted of fraud after posing as a 12 year old foster child for 14 months. Amanda Maria Zuzza was found guilty of fraud and using a false identity. She allegedly used a high pitch voice to appear younger and told the foster family she had autism and had undergone hormone treatments to explain her adult appearance. The family paid for her housing food and medication throughout. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Coup Gut reaction pretending
you're 12. Pretending you are 12 years old. There's a whole host of like horror movies along these lines like the bad seed and the orphan and things. Yeah I'm totally out. Yeah. Authorities and broken authorities in Brazil alleged similar schemes occurred elsewhere in Brazil recently. So this is a trend Anthony pretending you're 12 years old in a row. I mean mentally I still feel 12. But you know this is this is this awful the fact that you would thank you. You would you know take resources from a kid that actually needs it is terrible so you know to the guillotine. Not the guillotine. But being almost 40 and pretending to be 12. Yeah that's that's pretty amazing. Yeah I'm going to be out totally totally out of that. Finally this one is about a celebrity Coup Barbara Eden. I joined the genie. She's 95 years old. She just took to social meet. She's 95
with social media. Coup go for go for it. To calm fans after missing synacom 62 in LA due to a health issue. The I dream of genie star was set to receive a award and wrote quote it's okay everyone. I'm okay. Her doctor preside new medication which has some nasty side effects prompting her to stay home. She called it just a speed bump just a speed bump at 95. Okay. Barbara Eden. Barbara Eden in or out. Just a moment but one question that I have about the I dream of genie that I like to ask before all the time. By herself I dream of genie would be a much better show if Captain Healy actually found the genie bottle instead. Oh think about his disposition in the show. Yes it's better show right. Better show no doubt. I think I've been a better show. I'm in on Barbara Eden man. I had a crush on her ever since I was a little tight man. You can get me. I love Barbara Eden. Barbara Eden Anthony in or out. I'm all in. I mean the rebrands in the 80s that used to come on between her and Wonder Woman. I mean I was 12. Yeah exactly.
Exactly exactly. Barbara Eden and Linda Carter. Absolutely in. Absolutely in. Anthony good to see him. I see you guys. Thanks for coming in. All right. Phone lines are open. Tickets Tuesday's next 800-7658255. Let's win these tickets to go see the Reds host of Cubs. This is Metronoos. The voice of West Virginia. Good evening. It's 530 and 84 degrees in the capital city. Coastal Carolina. The WVU football team will be looking for a better four quarter performance when FCS opponent U.T. Martin comes to Milo Puscar Stadium on Saturday. But Virginia led 24 and nothing at half time but they were outscored by the Shanta Flares 24-7 after the break. Pretty good first half and was pleased with with with that and then the second half made made some mistakes and had a chance to kind of like end the game so to speak and let them off to hook a little bit there and you got to get their credit they kept fighting in battle until there's a lot to learn from in every game but the first game I think there's there's even more so than normal. That's Rich Rodriguez. Check out Game Preview coverage throughout the weekend. www.metronoos.com with this updated sports on Joe Vercauto on 580WCHS. The Reds battle the Dodgers tonight from LA. the star Trek and the mystery and you got to call in on the local line today 304 345 58 58 304 345 58 58 what we get those lines filled up let me go ahead and do some of our question of the day because we've we've got quite a few responses to that also if I get a minute we may take a look at the AP top 25 the new one is out for today so here's the question of the day 60th anniversary of star Trek officially celebrated today marking six day six decades since the man trap episode first aired on NBC in 1966 so the question of the day and it is sponsored by Solango law who is your favorite captain of the enterprise and it's a little tougher than you I think who is your favorite captain of the enterprise on star Trek and a star Trek underrated or gulp overrated hmm who's your favorite captain of the enterprise on star Trek and a star Trek underrated or overrated to respond text those in 304 talk 304 minimal about numbers today 304
8255 304 I'm on exit weekly w eek le y oh let's go to we're coop we're going to another state Cheshire Ohio to talk to Mike Mike how you doing today oh forget about yourself hey man thanks are calling in and thanks for being so versatile what the phone when have you been to a reds game this year all right well I tell you what's been probably about four or five years actually well I want to hook you up here man so we got three categories today w view football star Trek and the mystery category which one would you like I'll go with star Trek going with star Trek okay Sulu held which position for the longest time on the enterprise helmsman chief engineer science officer or communications officer Sulu which position did he hold for the longest period of time on the enterprise helmsman chief engineer science officer or communications officer
do you need the question again oh no as it helmsman helmsman is correct helmsman is correct so right out of the box all right well Mike let me ask you um we got we got do you want all four tickets here you just want to take two just two please here you go I like that in a person I like that in a person so that that means everybody else who's on hold please stay there Mike I tell you what your first time caller for for tickets Tuesday how long you've been listening to our show oh probably for about five or six years now all right well I tell you what kupa will give you all the details and how we're going to get you the tickets thanks for playing and thanks for calling in okay thank you all right Mike a good deal all right kupa is our next the victim slash contestant Mike from Oak Hill wait a minute he's like a ten time winner hey Mike how you doing
pretty good yourself I'm doing fine you know Mike I've talked to you a bunch of times on tickets Tuesday I'm assuming you're on your way home from work is that correct yes sir and a boy how far from work do you live about a hour how working trust and living okay oh okay well how's the turnpike today about today okay I'm glad to hear that you know what I kind of feel like we've played this game so many times you and I we should be pretty good friends right now we should probably know more about each other we should we want to listen I got two I got two categories left wv football and the mystery category which one would you like let's see wv football you want to do wv football okay here you go wv will play a Tennessee Martin this Saturday one o'clock kickoff at the stadium the sky hawks are longtime members of the Ohio Valley conference who was the last who was the last ovc team to play wv in football was it more headstate Tennessee tech
eastern Kentucky or eastern Illinois who was the last Ohio Valley conference team to play wv in football more headstate Tennessee tech eastern Kentucky or eastern Illinois you know what the next day is the time to play let's go with I'm not sure I'm not sure you need to get a chance to do more time more headstate Tennessee tech eastern Kentucky or eastern Illinois eastern Kentucky eastern Kentucky is correct eastern Kentucky is correct the last team for the Ohio Valley conference to play wv in football was EKU on September the 12 2020 was to Virginia won that game 56 to 10 all right Mike you want to tell you what you got to was just a miss what really okay well I thought I threw you on that one because uh you know more headstate's not more headstate's not it's more headstate yeah more but here's the thing basketball more headstate used to be in the Ohio Valley conference they're not in the league anymore
uh they're not in league anymore and uh eastern Illinois that's where uh Tony Romo played and I thought you might go for Tennessee tech but uh you did you got the correct answer all right Mike who you going to take to the game probably malady uh there you go she like baseball yeah she likes to sit in person she can't let you go into the area I hear you how long to take you to get from uh from uh okay where you live to uh great American ballpark that's not bad that's not bad hey Mike I appreciate you listening and uh you're you're the kupa how many times you think you've won Mike he's one of these times he's yeah he's one of you Mike I got your information obviously I'll send it right over to you all right man thanks guys that is funny uh copies one so much we might have to have like rules and stuff going for yeah we technically do but he uh he just outside of that window but uh yeah that's uh that's
something else that's fine so I guess we had multiple mics mic mic mic mic mic oh yeah today is Mike um we did have a bunch of mics here that's right uh do we lose anybody left oh we did have all lines were jammed up but when Mike won the last one uh they they dropped off okay hey I appreciate the uh folks being so flexible today I agree yeah they talked they ended up getting I think I ended up getting the 800 number fixed too so whatever one they ended up calling when was was fine we know it works we've taken uh phone calls from listeners and talk to them yeah yeah but anyway we moved that over to the 58 line uh which we haven't done in a while but we were happy to do that today you know um talking about football and that kind of stuff let me uh pull this brand new AP top 25 out today oh man what was the last time Michigan wasn't in the top 25 I don't know yeah okay how about this how about the fact that Michigan quote unquote one their opener and they dropped out of the top 25 wow that's uh that that's kind of unusual all right so here you go brand new AP top 25 is out but guys number one not a real surprise
there Georgia two you had a variety of teams who got first place votes obviously the the bucks got the most buck eyes number one followed by Georgia Notre Dame Texas and Indiana in the top five Notre Dame moving up one spot after they look good against Wisconsin Texas and Ohio State man so that match up this week in Austin is going to feature two teams in the top five I like where that's going uh Texas is four Indiana five six through 10 this is the brand new associated press top 25 Oregon Miami LSU five first place votes they're up to number eight they crack the top 10 Ole Miss holds steady at number nine after their their win this weekend Texas A&M drops a couple of spots after their win how's that work uh 11 through 15 Oklahoma Alabama Texas tech drops one spot out of the big 12th and number 13 Southern cow 14 BYU drops a spot the number 15 Penn State after they beat Marshall up two spots the number 16 followed by SMU up two spots after
their win last night Tennessee 18 Washington 19 Utah number 20 they move up one spot uh the you'd do after last week's poll Iowa Houston Missouri Louisville oh look at this Virginia hmm Virginia gonna be playing West Virginia in Charlotte in a couple of weeks they are one and no and they are in to the top 25 yeah let's go ahead and take a phone call um unscreened yes unscreened phone calls yes sir hello how are you doing pretty good what's on your mind who's who's calling I'm saying hey Dan I'm calling to I'm calling to tell Dave he brought up the biggest nightmare in my life with that no I know I know you know what I told coop in the break that uh that the 90-minute
condensed game of that wild game in 1974 between Notre Dame and Southern Cal is on YouTube so so Dan please don't watch that that's probably gonna send you into cardiac arrest well I had a real I worked in Wheeling at that time and I put a size of a bet on that and I had Notre Dame in six and 30 none have time and I at first when Dave was showing that I got his doctor oh there you know that's a nightmare game for the Irish people talk about like I don't know what John McCay told those boys at halftime but they were a step faster than the Irish were in the second app uh Southern Cal scored 43 points in the third quarter in that game um that was that was just an insane game where Notre Dame dominated Southern Cal it was 24 nothing with 11 seconds to go in the first half after 17 minutes USC led that game 55 to 24 I mean Anthony Davis is when crazy in that
game I know I know I hey I watched every minute maybe literally hey coop you still got that clip the beginning of this clip for the second half kickoff is just amazing where you know Keith Jackson just called so many tremendous games here's just the beginning of that that kickoff that Anthony Davis took in the 74 game at the Coliseum against Notre Dame catch this captain himself to problem they frail 24 to 6 as we go to the second half with white 4 22 and Anthony Davis number 28 the deep man to receive the kickoff from Pat McLaughlin of Notre Dame the fighting Irish wearing the white and they dominated the first half of play here's the kick McLaughlin knocks it high and deep and Davis two yards deep in the end zone will bring it back the wedge gets him to the 20 he breaks it up to 25 he's long one at the 40 it's now a foot raise and here goes Anthony Davis for a hundred and three yards that I put down oh well and now you
coop I shouldn't have played that you know Dan had a nightmare and I played it again now it's like he's gonna have nightmares about that play again that's the only way to exercise it is that for me you got to face your fears Dan got to face your fears son I thank you stirrup salt the moons hey Dan thanks all right thanks for calling all right let's take a break we'll come back oh we'll hear from Rich Rod we got a little Rich Rod to hear from we'll do that when we come back hi I'm Dylan jumper a product consultant at civil and environmental consultants I'm someone who craves challenges and meaningful connections at CEC I found both solving complex problems and delivering quality solutions is what drives me it's not just about completing tasks it's about building trust and making a lasting impact in the martin's progress we anticipate communicating acts with late to keep projects on track at CEC we engineer progress in the great state of West Virginia find out what CEC can do for you visit cec INC dot com to almost heaven West Virginia

in tickets to his day always a lot of fun breaking news out of the NFL remember all the things that buck the baker may feel set about the bucks well he can take it all back now three years 165 million extension all those things i said forget him forget him uh retro regga's wv football coach met the media earlier today is regularly scheduled meeting with the local media into anticipation of the game this weekend with Tennessee Martin let's hear from rich rod earlier today in morgan town on Mount near football made made some mistakes and uh had a chance to kind of like end the game so to speak and let him off to hook a little bit there and you got to get their credit they kept fighting in battle and so there's a lot to learn from in every game but the first game i think there's there's even more so than normal to learn mistakes are correctable errors yeah i didn't get to get about it this is i didn't see anything that we can't fix there wasn't from a physical standpoint
boy this guy just got dominated or something like that it was uh silly penalty here or or some kind of assignment mistake it seemed like in the second half it was on defense you know we'd have just it wouldn't be all eleven guys but just one guy maybe out of position or something like that um that would kind of hurt us but the the effort was good all day and you know for a first game we get really worried about making a multitude of mistakes that cost you a game we made enough to to make it close but did enough good things to win which means unless we're going to offensive line the most important part of learning how to play together having that synergy how close in those terms is the secondary how important is that back there on your back five on defense the second yeah it's sometimes i like i got to remind myself that it was the first game starting for a lot of guys i don't know 18 19 guys or something like that and you know the whole secondary was starting
for the first time so i would expect like every other team the more you play in games you know the more the the communication will be better the more uh you know they get used to playing with each other i think you know a football such a team sport anyway uh that you know whether to talk my online or the secondary what have you know one mistake makes the whole secondary looks bad or makes the whole line look bad when it really is just one guy maybe you know trying to try to do something we got to get corrected but there you go that's rich run regas there'll be more analysis of his comments today to the media on sports line their show follows ours almost immediately a sick quick break we're coming back to rapid for the day in a moment they say roads are made for journeys not destinations and now that i'm retired i make a point to journey as much as i can but when night driving became a challenge my son and i decided it was time for a doctor's visit to ensure my safety behind the wheel i was worried but instead of restrictions we discuss solutions to make sure i can continue on my journeys aging can alter how we drive take charge of your safety and
