So, remember yesterday during my video game report, I talked about how it's Pokemon's 30th anniversary. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they just announced the newest line of Pokemon games. The 10th generation of Pokemon games is here. Do we need the video music? No. I gave him the chicken. Oh, wait a minute. He's hijacking the show. So, he's the captain now. I think we'll be fine. Okay. But it's called Pokemon Wins and Waves. And from the trailer, there's going to be a lot of water and eat. So, yeah.

3:01That's about it. Hey, I'll tell you why you were getting your flowers for the video game report yesterday. I mean, we had the Elon Musk thing and then the Xbox thing and then the Pokemon thing. So, that was a three-fer. Yeah. That was a three-fer. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. So, 55 degrees outside right now, 55 degrees, which is kind of ironic since we had Jason Williams on the show earlier this week. I was trying to find some information. You remember where I asked Jason why he wore 55? Do you remember his answer? His answer was that when he got to Marshall's sequence, right? Somebody had 50 and somebody had five and I was thinking about that driving in here today thinking they knew he had 50 and who had five. I think Sydney Coles had 50. But I don't know who had five. Yeah. But the next thing that I went to in this process of trying to figure this out was this is probably

4:01something that AI can't help me with. Right. Two specific. Yeah. Does that happen in your daily job here at the building where you'll ask a question or ask AI to do something like, I can't help you, bro. No. I'm spitting it back out. That's not the type of thing that I usually get from it. I usually don't run into it. So you don't run into it? No. I use it for data already. I don't usually use it to get the data. Well, the other thing I wanted to ask you about in regards to numbers. And by the way, we got tons of stuff today. We have all kinds of baseball happening. Marshall Softball is going on right now. Marshall's home opener and baseball started five minutes ago. WVs got a baseball game and starting in 40 minutes. Marshall's got a basketball game tonight to finish first at the top of the sun. We got stuff. We got stuff. There's a ton of stuff. We got stuff. I wanted to ask you this. One of the stories we missed yesterday that was kind of numbers related. And that's kind of my thing. Did you see where C.C. Sabathe is going to get his number retired by the Yankees?

5:02I wondered if we were going to talk about this. Yeah. That's interesting, right? So what's your initial reaction to that? What do you think about Sabathe getting his number retired? I got to tell you, I was a little surprised. I mean, not that he wasn't a great, a good, very good pitch. It just seems like that I thought that the Yankees bar was quite high. And I didn't know that he met it for them. I mean, I'm not arguing against it because I'm not a Yankees fan. So I don't really have any skin in the game, but it was a little surprising to me. In terms of the Yankees, you have retired numbers. And then you have monuments. Those are two separate things. Sabathe is 10th all time in Yankee wins. He spent 11 years with the Yankees. He was a key player in the 09 World Championship, which was their last one. I believe he's fourth all time in strikeouts. But the thing was, there was a period where

6:06for a player to get his number retired, that he would have to spend almost all of his career with one certain franchise. Right. Would you agree with that? I think that's right. I mean, and you look in the case of Sabathe. Sabathe won a Saigon when he was pitching for the Indians. And then he had that one unbelievable half a season with the brewers, where he helped them get into the playoffs. I guess maybe that was 2008. But I just thought that was, that was kind of interesting. Here's the other thing too. You know, you're a big fan of the Reds. Our affiliate, our flagship affiliate, WCHS has been a Reds affiliate for six decades. So I'm a Pirates guy. The Pirates and the Reds are small market franchises. Are the rules different for the things we need to retire a number? I mean, at this point, it's pretty un...

7:07You can't really expect a really, really good player to spend his entire career with one franchise. I mean, that's really, really rare. Now, Joy Fato is going to get his number retired, right? He's still around, sure. Yeah, he's going to get... Oh, he retired. So I mean, he's probably at some point going to get it. But he never won a championship with the Reds. Sure. He never won a pennant. I mean, they didn't win during his entire run. So there's not really anybody to play a good game, right? Yeah. I mean, that's his career. But he will have his number retired. I think we can both agree with that. Yeah. If you're a really good player for the Yankees or the Dodgers, you can't really expect to have your number retired in most cases if you don't want a championship, right? I think it's relative to your position on the team. I think with Joey Fato, it's because he's going to be one of the top 10 players ever to play there.

8:07I think if you're a top 10 ever Dodger, you're going to get your number retired regardless of if you want a championship or not. And Don Manningly got his number retired with the Yankees, and he never won a championship. Yeah. I think it's relative to your position with the... You're slotting on the team, not necessarily championship. I mean, championships will certainly help, and I think that would shrink the window. So maybe if you want a bunch of championships in a short window, you're more likely to get your number retired with the team. But I think with somebody like the Yankees, if you're a top 10 player like Joey Fato is for the Reds, you're getting your number retired. Yeah. I think that's right. But why would the Yankees retire Sebastian's number before they would retire A-Rod's number? Well, maybe the stairway thing. I have no idea. But I'm surprised that there's not other Yankees that their fan base would think was more deserving. I don't have... I only have a three hour show. I don't have the time to list all the Yankees retired numbers. That's true. It's a very, very long list of players. But I just think if you look back at that team from 2009,

9:10that A-Rod's contributions to that championship were as significant as Sebastian, and A-Rod had tons of stats that he put up with the Yankees. And if you want to hold the stairway thing against him, that's understandable. But wouldn't you compare A-Rod's status with the Yankees to maybe Barry Bond's status with the Giants or Giants fans? You know, still a door bonds. Yeah, I'm not positive what the Yankees relationship is with A-Rod. I don't know if they embrace him or not. But I'm assuming not that strongly because there's probably no player within, at least my lifetime, who's probably was as good as A-Rod that's been forgotten more. Nobody ever talks about that cat, like being the best of anything. I mean, he was certainly the best shortstop for a while, the best third baseman for a while, stacked a bunch of championships and has Hall of Fame numbers. But when people are doing comparisons or doing different things, they don't talk about A-Rod a lot anymore.

10:11That's a little odd to me. I mean, I know there's the stairway thing there, but that guy was the golden boy for a while. And he was part of that Seattle lineup that, when you look back at it, you're like, how do they not win any championships? I know. With this team, with the big unit there, and with all of these offensive weapons and everything else. But yeah, I don't know. It's a good question. It's we're going back to the Sebastian thing, though. It's not that I don't understand it. It just is a little surprising to me. He was a very, very good pitcher for a long, long time on some very, very good Yankee teams. But when I think of Sebastian, of him being a Yankee, doesn't immediately come to mind. Yeah, great. You know, I just think of him pitching for, you know, multiple teams and being effective with all the teammates. It's kind of a Gotham power move, though, to be like, we're just, we're just taking him as ours. Yeah. Yeah. He's like, I know he played for all these other things, but he's just alright. Well, and for Sebastian, he considers himself, you know, he grew up on the West Coast, but I think he considers himself like a, a New York type of person, right? And there is also the, uh, the aspect of merch as well,

11:14where you can make more money if you are an alumni of a, of a more famous team. I don't know, Cooper. I like to, this is a kind of a subject I like. I like talking about retired numbers, monuments, statues, who deserves a statue and who doesn't, to kind of bring this back and kind of localize it now. When are we going to, or will we ever be in a position we're going to start retiring numbers and jerseys of college players who will spend what? A minimum of two years in a college program? I mean, if, for example, say what would happen if West Virginia had a guy who had two really good seasons, okay? Then he left W of U and had like four more really good seasons for another school. Would they retire that player's jersey? I have no idea. Yeah. I don't know. This isn't something that I can really wrap my head around or too soon. Okay.

12:14Okay. But let's, let's put this in the perspective of Marshall. Okay? So you're in the group of, you're in the group of six. So the way that college sports is essentially set up now, the group of six is like the minor leagues, right? Where if you're a player in the group of six, you transfer into a power school, what would happen in that situation? Say, for example, Marshall had a player who was elite for a season or maybe parts of two seasons and then moved up into the power four. Could that player ever have his jersey number retired? I have no idea. Yeah. That's a good question. In college, in college jersey retirements, used to be a little bit different. There used to be certain requirements for that. Like, are you a consensus all American? Do you have a degree from a certain school? I don't know. I was just kind of thinking a little bit about jersey numbers retired, statues, monuments.

13:14I wonder if there were going to be stuff. I just wonder if we're going to see a, maybe a change of terminology like jersey numbers honored or something on those lines where, or maybe you can get your number like on a plaque or even like in a portion of the rafters or something like that, but it doesn't necessarily take it out of rotation. How about this? Or what if your number gets put on pause? Like a number 33, we're not going to allow anybody to have it for the next five years. I don't know. Well, let me ask you this. Did you see this week where the, where the Lakers gave Pat Riley a statue? I bet that is going to look fantastic. Was it revealed or? Yeah, it's been revealed. It's great. He's getting, he's sitting his signature pose and he's got this Armani suit on. How's this here? Perfect. Nice. Perfect, you know? You know, people in like, I want to say, 100,000 years are going to be real confused when they find like these statues of like sports guys. And it's like, what was their political significance?

14:14What did they do for their nation? I mean, that's what we're doing today. Probably we're looking at statues and we're like, well, this was obviously a very important God. And it was like some dude that lived down the street that, you know, made a good taste. Yeah. Well, how about the paterno statue? Were you give a guy a statue? And then you, you know, pull it back into the basement and close the door. Statues that you no longer, you know, for whatever reason that happened in the, in the post era that you was embarrassing. And you have to get rid of statue. Yeah, don't count those checkers yet. And this area seems like everything's making a comeback. What? Well, if you, if you give Pat Riley a statue for the Lakers, can the Knicks give him one? This is another one of the, this is going to be like one of those Yankees power. No, he's ours. Not yours. Okay, well, how about this one? I mean, who, which franchise gets to be the first one to give LeBron a statue? Yeah. I mean, if LeBron gets a statue for the calves, does that mean he can't have one for the Lakers? What up, Phil Jackson? Phil Jackson. Well, I'm not, I'm not a Lakers historian. This is a Roland Lasby question.

15:14Okay. That is true. I think it's going to be a big, a big statue for Phil Jackson. Yeah, there could be, I don't know. But doesn't Phil Jackson, doesn't he deserve more of a statue with the, with the Bulls because he won more championships? I think you think, right? Well, I think the only Laker that deserves a statue is Magic Johnson, right? Well, he's got one, doesn't he? Does he? I'm assuming. I'll tell you what, I have to get the big gate. Well, that might be a question for AI. That might be a question for AI. Before we could just Google it, you know? Yeah. Oh, the Google so yesterday. Well, but, but, you got Gemini, right? Gemini is Google. Oh, Hey, there is. So I knew there was one at MSU. So there's definitely one on campus in East Lansing, because I've seen that one before. But there's a couple of Magic Johnson statues. I'll, I'll try to get all the different places for it. Well, let me ask Jeff Jenkins' question. Jeff, you are on the Mount Air Sports Network for years. Can WVU retire a jersey for, if a guy's only there for two years? No, I think there's, there's provisions, right? There's, there's a certain number

16:14of the, I don't know them, but I've heard them recited before. And so it's, so do you have to have a degree and feel like it consists of all American? Yes, that's two of them. That's two of them. And you might be even, I mean, I think there's more than two or three pit games ever in your lifetime. That's probably one of them. Just something for thought. You know, they're restricted and some things about where they can be located and their signage and different things. A lot of concern about vape shops that just kind of pop up in different places. It would be very limited to someone convicted of murder, involving sexual abuse of a child. The transfer of Logan Elementary School students to Logan Middle is underway as district officials

24:20plan for students to be back in person. Next week after a fire damaged their school last Saturday. Logan County Schools Communication Director Troy Alexander said they are planning to have an open house on Tuesday March 3rd and students will return the following day. He says they anticipate students will finish out the school year in the middle school. After they get everything clean up, there's a hole in the roof that they have to deal with and making sure the electrical is all up to standard after being exposed to the heat, water damage. So there's a lot going on. Alexander also said they are going to ensure that middle schoolers and elementary school students are kept separate from each other. The Senate is taking steps to regulate the sale of vaping products. The Judiciary Committee passed the bill that would create the vape safety act to ensure there is more oversight over the shops that are primarily targeted towards kids. The accounting senator Elliott Britt, who is also a teacher, says they compensate several vape cartridges daily from students.

25:20I do bathroom duty in our school and I will tell you what, walking into the bathroom after between every class change is like strawberry fields and blueberry haze every single day. The legislation now heads to the full Senate. And HealthPap, a mental health clinic in Charleston, is set to reopen this weekend. Saturday staff will hold their grand re-opening at the cottage at Northgate on Patterson Lane. Rob Reale joins me from up real early 96.1 superstar country. That unfortunate situation of the Logan Elementary. Yes. What's going on with that? I didn't start the final. I didn't claim that you did. Neither did Billy Joel. But I should quickly tell a story on myself when I was dating the now recovering Mrs. Reale. I have a CDL. I can drive virtually any vehicle but I'm not a great passenger. There may or may not have been an incident where I was left at the side of the road. I'll I can't lack nothing but the tail lights. Wow. Really? Yes. I totally deserved it by the way. Okay. So, uh, and you say back seat driver, I mean, you think of Bubba Smith in the first police academy moving, ripping a seat out and driving from the back seat.

30:22So the, um, Logan Elementary last weekend experienced a fire. And I want to start with the good news. No one was injured. That's thank goodness. And the structure itself is going to be fine. There's a lot of mitigation that happens to happen probably not until next school year. But the building itself is going to be fine. Everything inside, however, all the stuff, fire, smoke, water damage from the fire suppression system and just putting out the fire, it's all toast. The stuff is all gone. More good news. The efforts to replenish school supplies. So pencils and crayons and construction paper and notebooks. Those have gone so well that Logan County schools have said, be a please stop bringing a stuff. We're good. Big press release came out this morning. The efforts to get books back for young readers. Everybody from beginning readers to early chapter books

31:22for young adults. That's going very well. There are a couple of book drives that are about to finish up. What we learned from folks at the school is that the big need was for what I would call educational play items. So stuff that fuels recess and indoor educational play. So everything from sports balls to building blocks, sidewalk chalk, kinetic sand. Those are some of the examples. So being who we are and what we do, how can we help? What can we do? So we started putting heads together, heads smarter than mine. And we're going to do it kind of a mini version of one of our drop events. But we're going to take it on the road. From 8 a.m. until noon, we're going to be at Fountain Plaza at Logan Bank and Trust. I love that when we reach out to folks like Gary, VP and CEO at Logan Bank and Trust. Here's what we're doing. We need a place to do it.

It's earmarked for Logan Elementary. It can go into their emergency fund and then right back out of that emergency fund we'll fill in the blanks on the stuff that's not physically donated. So let's say we get soccer balls but we don't get Lego sets and they need some of those. We can turn around and use the emergency money from Union Mission to fill in the blanks.

33:22So a great partnership by all, you know I love having class outside anyway. I love getting to help our friends and neighbors getting to go outside. And so Tuesday morning, eight until noon, Logan Bank and Trust, Fountain Plaza, come see us. But I think one of the important things here is this is not an event that is planned for like next month. This is next Tuesday. Yeah. Okay. One of the reasons I kind of barged in here is you know you're going to do your shopping on the weekend. Yesterday, Judge Chisholm led off the game with the Braves with a home run to right. Did you do? Jazz high in the air. Right field. Gamble back. On the track. Great.

I mean, just my teammates that are for embracing me. They don't really really help me out. I mean, that's a lot of threes and it's a lot of looks off other teammates. And so, you know, just letting them let me come on a team.

I'd also see Jenny Finch throw some batting practice against low batting average major league players. I think she would have feared pretty well. That's a pretty interesting take. Earlier this week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced 17 nominees for the class of 2026. The question of the day was, was Shakira Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross on the ballot has the hall officially moved past Rock and become the music Hall of Fame. And is that a good thing? I think it's definitely the music Hall of Fame. But the groups that are up for it this year, I can only think of three that I would vote for.
