Yamagata Aritomo
Yamagata Aritomo was a Japanese samurai, military officer, and politician. He was a member of the Yamagata clan and served as the 24th Prime Minister of Japan. He is known for his role in the Meiji Restoration and his efforts to modernize Japan's military. Aritomo was also a skilled artist and landscape designer, and his gardens are still admired today. He was a close friend and advisor to the Meiji Emperor.
