Ulugh Begh was a Timurid emperor and astronomer who made significant contributions to mathematics, astronomy, and geography. He was born in 1394 and died in 1449. He is best known for his work on trigonometry and his construction of the Ulugh Beg Observatory in Samarkand. He was also a patron of the arts and architecture.
