Saint Paul of the Cross was an Italian Catholic priest and founder of the Passionist Order. He was born in 1595 in Ovada, Italy, and studied theology at the University of Turin. Paul of the Cross was known for his mystical experiences and his advocacy for the poor and marginalized. He was canonized as a saint in 1769 and is still revered by the Passionist Order today.
