Saint Frances of Rome was a 16th-century Italian mystic and foundress of the Poor Clares. She was born into a wealthy family and was educated in theology and philosophy. She was known for her deep devotion to God and her love for the poor. She was also a strong advocate for the rights of women and the poor. Frances was canonized as a saint in 1925.
