Rocky Beamon is an American former track and field athlete who specializes in the high jump. Born on November 24, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, Beamon won the gold medal in the high jump at the 1968 Summer Olympics and holds the world record in the event. He is also known for his involvement in the Black Power movement and his activism in the 1970s.
