Philip Dray is an American author and historian. He is a professor of history at the University of California, Berkeley. Dray has written several books on American history and culture. His work often explores the intersection of history and literature. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dray has received numerous awards for his writing, including the National Book Award.
