Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij was a Russian composer and pianist of the late Romantic era. He is best known for his orchestral works, including his famous Symphony No. 6, 'Pathetique'. Čajkovskij was born in Votkinsk, Russia in 1840 and began studying music at a young age. He went on to study at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was mentored by renowned composer Nikolai Rubinstein.
