Muhammed Murat IV
18th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire
Muhammed Murat IV was the 18th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, ruling from 1623 to 1640. He was a member of the House of Osman and is known for his military campaigns against the Habsburgs and the Safavids. Murat IV was also a patron of the arts and architecture, and his reign saw the construction of several notable buildings in Istanbul. He died in 1640, at the age of 17.
