Mohammed Naji al-Attiyah was born on March 23, 1974. He served in the Syrian Air Force before entering politics. Al-Attiyah became a prominent figure in the Syrian opposition during the Arab Spring protests. In 2011, he took part in the Syrian Revolution and joined the Free Syrian Army.
