Mary Mallon
Infamous cook and carrier of typhoid fever
Mary Mallon was an Irish-American cook who was diagnosed with typhoid fever in 1907. Despite her illness, she continued to work as a cook, spreading the disease to many people in New York City. She was eventually isolated on North Brother Island, where she died in 1938.
