Mary Keane
Former inmate at the Dublin Workhouse
Mary Keane was a 13-year-old girl who was imprisoned at the Dublin Workhouse in the 1840s for not having a train ticket. She was one of the many young people who were forced to work in the workhouses during the Great Famine. Keane's story is a powerful reminder of the harsh conditions faced by those who were affected by the famine. She is now a vocal advocate for social justice and human rights.
