Martin Cooper is an American inventor and engineer who is best known for inventing the first handheld mobile phone. Cooper worked at Motorola for over 30 years and holds over 200 patents in the field of telecommunications. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Medal of Technology.
