Margaretha Geertruda Zelle, known to most as Mata Hari, was a Dutch exotic dancer and alleged spy. Born in 1876 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, Zelle began her career as a dancer at a young age and eventually moved to Paris, where she became a famous performer.
