Joy Harjo is a poet, playwright, and musician who is the first Native American to serve as U.S. Poet Laureate. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grew up on the Muscogee Nation reservation. Harjo's poetry often explores themes of identity, family, and social justice.
