José Malhoa was a Portuguese painter and art historian. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and studied art at the Academia de Belas Artes. Malhoa was a prominent figure in the Portuguese art world and was known for his work in the Symbolist movement. He was also a prolific writer and published several books on art and history.
