Jacobus Arminius was a Dutch theologian who lived from 1560 to 1609. He is best known for his disagreements with John Calvin on the issue of predestination. Before becoming a theologian, he studied law at the University of Leiden. He is considered one of the most important figures in the development of Arminianism.
