Henry Hindley

Henry Hindley was a clock maker and telescope maker who made the first true equatorially mounted telescope in York in 1739. He was born in 1701 near Manchester, England, and served as an apprentice clock maker before moving to York in 1730. Henry was a pioneer in the field of optics and his designs took the industry by storm. He is remembered as one of the most important figures in the history of telescopes.
