Giuseppe Fiorelli was an Italian archaeologist and sculptor. He is best known for his work on the excavation of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Fiorelli was a prominent figure in the field of classical archaeology and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
