Farid ud-Din Attar was a Persian poet and mystic who lived in the 13th century. He is best known for his poem The Conference of the Birds, which is considered a classic of Sufi literature. Attar was born in Nishapur, Iran and spent much of his life traveling and writing. He died in Baghdad, Iraq.
