Bruno Hauptmann
German-American carpenter and convicted kidnapper
Bruno Hauptmann was a German-American carpenter and convicted kidnapper. He was born in 1899 in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1909. Hauptmann worked as a carpenter and later became involved in a number of shady dealings, including theft and forgery. In 1932, he was arrested and charged with the kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh's son. Hauptmann was found guilty and executed in 1936 for the crime.
