Augustine Henry

British plant collector and writer

Augustine Henry (1804-1871) was a British plant collector and writer who traveled extensively throughout Asia, collecting and classifying numerous plant species. He was a close friend and colleague of Père David and the two men worked together to promote the study of Chinese flora. Henry's work was instrumental in introducing Western botany to China.
