Ariel Dorfman was a Chilean-American writer, playwright, and human rights activist. He was born in Santiago, Chile in 1941 and fled the country after the military coup in 1973. Dorfman's work explores the human condition, politics, and social justice. He was a professor at Duke University and wrote several novels, plays, and essays.
