Anthony Gardner is a career diplomat who served as the US Ambassador to the European Union from 2009 to 2013. Prior to his appointment, he held various positions in the US Department of State, including serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs. Gardner has also worked as a professor at Georgetown University and has written extensively on European and international affairs.
