Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani was a 12th-century Sufi mystic and founder of the Qadiriyya Sufi order. He was born in Baghdad and spent his life teaching and spreading Sufi teachings across the Muslim world. He is revered as Ghaus al-A‘zam, or the greatest helper.
