like going. What's up big sales? Whoo, baby. 11 days away. 11 days. Great interview by Halley on WIP. What do you want him to say? Oh, oh, yeah, the quarterbacks on the clock. He said he's supposed to say this is coming back and this coach win football. It's a setup question. You know the answer. He's the answer to that question. If you are the host, you know, when you asked that question, the general manager of the Eagles is not going to answer that and go, Hey, you know what? What do you mean? Answered it? Really? He did. How come there's only $20 million then still on his contract? You know what? To me, shows me, Hey, action speak louder than some bullshit on WIP. Because if that was the case, they would have addressed that. Darren Keith this year, how we would say, what do you mean it's not contract time yet? You're right. You didn't know the answer to that question when they asked it.
Okay. No, I don't agree with that. And by the way, I like his explanation. This is about winning, Silio. This is about winning. That's what Halley rose and will ultimately be judged by in the future. Not whether he was able to pay a quarterback that had X, Y, Z for talent in the future. Who's the, who's the general manager? So when, so wait a second. Who's the general manager of the Buffalo Bills? It's the biggest bullshit question in the history of WIP when they asked that question today. It was completely the dumb. I agree with you. It was a set up question. They should have followed up, but they're WIP. They pay 10 million a year to be the official brand of the English. And you're not going to put the GM in a bad spot. So wait, you know what the follow up question was? Who's your backup? So if you can't answer the backup, how are you going to answer what truth, whether or not the quarterbacks in a maker break year? Well, that's not as important as the quarterback, but you can't answer any question.
That's my point. Well, he answered other questions. I mean, the backup is clearly the part of the roster right now where there's no answer. Okay. I mean, don't don't step in. Tanner McKee fell off the face of player. If you thought that was well done interview with how we today, that more power to you, I don't think it was a well done and the rest of the Philadelphia sports media. I don't think they did a good job interviewing them. I think that's right. Answering. I'll take that. I'll take that. Yes. Yes. Because to me, here's a line from Jerry McGuire. Show me the money. Wait, wait, listen to the quote. Show me the money. Here's how we rose meant today. I think the bottom line for us in the position we're in and really for all of our fan base is winning football games. And all Jaylin does is win football games. And that includes our head coach as well. For me, the barometer is winning football games.
In terms of what Jaylin does, he's another guy with a tremendous track record. All he does is go out and play good football. And here's my question to that. So are you working on a deal now, then? Can we expect a contract at the end of that? Should have followed up with that. But okay, did you address it in the off season this last off season? Do you working on a deal now with Nicole? Should we see one by the beginning of the year? Quite frankly, you can actually have a contract at any time with them right now. Would we see a contract during the year this year? How about that's what Mike? That would have been my questions. I agree. But how about this is to finish out that quote? Really excited to have him as our quarterback, excited about this season and what we have done forward. And I know there are a lot of fan bases out there that would love the results we've had with him as our starting quarterback. Well, then, okay, then why do you give him a contract?
It's a good question. Should have asked it. If you're so high on them and you started a new offense with new coaches and a new direction, don't you think you would have given a guy a three year contract deal? I do. We've said that before. We talked about that this summer. Okay. I do think how he's in a little bit of a weight and C mode, but overall, I think the question of you asking earlier if they win 11 ball games again. And it doesn't look awesome yet again on offense. I do think you're going to pay Jalen hurts. I do too. If they win a third straight end of C championship and he's at 32, 3,300 yards and 20 touchdowns and six picks. My question and Zander, you have to agree with one thing I've always said. Will you replace him with? Yeah, that's a big problem. Okay. If you're replacing him with Mac Jones, that ain't it for me. You better be talking about somebody like Joe Burrell. Bob says still is a parent on the back doesn't cost millions.
Yeah. There you go, Bob. And might have to negotiating table next year, Bob, but we'll see. We will see big Z. I'm going to give you the big sales takeaways on what I watched with that interview with cute with GQ and with Zach Baron. I think his name is. This is my takeaway. I'm taking any way you want. I think Jalen hurts looked at winning and the more he won, what was the line he used? The price of success. There's a price for success. And I personally believe that Jalen hurts looks at success and winning over relationships. And he's not going to be a guy. It's not his personality. It seems where he's going to be somebody like Brady that's going to have relationships with Grant Kowski or with Edelman and with amandola like that.
Where these guys are blood buddies and these guys were always working out, always hanging out, always together like that. And again, people go. It's still as you bring up the greatest quarterback of all time. Well, wait, it doesn't take any talent to be friends. There's no talent there that takes no talent to be close to people. Now, look, that's his formula. He looks at it this way. AJ wanted me to be friends with him and AJ wanted our friendship to carry the day. Hurts looked at it like this. Your friendship doesn't supersede winning. And it will never with me. And I would take it a step further. I think Jalen just give a rat to ask about the real shit. That's crazy about the business. I mean, he even said that. He said, you know, I, he said this. I pray that I have a lot more memories left to make in life one day. Yes. Yes. But right now, I'm focused on football is basically what he said. Paralyze. And I thought that I look.
I don't have a problem with that. No, no, it's just formula. No, I mean, you want to be buddy, buddy. You know, maybe Jalen's not to do to do that with. Is there some people that that might alienate? Sure. But overall, I'm willing to live with that. I prefer that mentality. To the alternative, if I can only have one, you know, I'll take that mentality all day. Sometimes you can't have your cake and you need to, you know, if he needs to be buddy, buddy. With people or, you know, and he compromises on some of the. That's not his nature. That's not his nature to be. Right. And that, you know, so I'm, I'm good with that. But I would agree with your take about. Jalen's priority clearly is what is is winning football games far more than. Making friendships, being buddy, buddy with people, saying the right thing to everybody. He cares about winning games, holding people to the standard that he believes they should be held to. And that's his, that's his north star right now. I think his definition of being a teammate is different than others.
His definition of a teammate is, do your fucking job. Yeah, I'm going to do my job. Maybe I'm old school, but I kind of like that. I'm, I think this soft world is part of why people don't resonate with that anymore. Like I think AJ really wanted to have. He thought his friendship with Jalen Hertz would always be above the team. I don't think Jalen Hertz, the more winning that Jalen Hertz had, at least for me, that interview came off. And by the way, you know, when asked a question about all the coordinators, he stopped because he didn't want to say anything, disparaging against the organization. He was I stopped counting. When he was asked about that relationship with Brown, he says it clearly got severed or whatever it fell out, whatever it was, whatever he said. And to me, grew apart, grew apart, grew apart. And for me, like how I took him, he's a loof. I see why some people like Brayton Covey, a couple of years ago said he's not very approachable.
Because get, you know, Zander, when you have one, when you have one task at hand and you have one goal at hand, you don't see anything else except this. The end of that finish line. I don't see friendship. Look at Brady sacrifice, Brady didn't sacrifice teammates. You know, he sacrificed his family. I think people I think good. So I think Brady had different, I, Brady failed in his family. Brady looked and took his relationships with Grunk and all these guys and had a higher value on them than even his own children and his wife. It cost them in the end. He went back for eight, nine. Okay, I'm saying there's just a different mentality. I'm sorry, like, hurts is more Aaron Rogers, but not quite the asshole. That Roger definitely not quite the asshole, but I understand what you're coming from. And I think that we're a loop. John used that a while ago. Some people take it as an insult. I don't think it's an insult at all. Now, you know, if you ever heard the phrase, you know, like the 99%ers, you know, Jalen's not like that.
You know, if you get a locker room of 53 men, a lot of dudes get caught up. You know, what are you up to this week? Oh, you are with, do I want to get our wives together? Oh, you want to go to the little bar? You want to go to the club? But you want to, you want to trade jerseys? You want to have fun? You know, you want to chat on social media? You want to do a podcast together? That's all these other things. Jalen, I think, is a loop from that style of what, you know, and I don't think that's, I don't think that's an insult at all. Somebody in the chat says it's an insult to me. That's not an insult at all. In fact, I think that's kind of a compliment. You know, the other thing that I get a little bit of in the same, in the same area of this conversation is, I get the sense that some people, and I'm not a close and personal to it, but just the way that Jalen carries himself, I would, I would guess that people are intimidated by him. A little bit. To some extent. I think people, I think it could be a team, it could be a guy like, I think that interview was very uncomfortable for the interviewer.
That's a perfect example of. I think Jalen at times almost intentionally made him uncomfortable. Now, I think that guy handled it pretty well, but I think his demanding presence and his unrelenting, you know, natured approach, which he will not compromise for anything. You know, he could put him in a weird spot and he's never going to give in on what he believes the pursuit is or what the goal is, whatever he is, whatever he sets. I could see, again, I used a cubby example. I could see, I could see even someone like AJ Brown, who's a vulnerable guy. You know, he's had vulnerable moments in his life. He's clearly a down to earth type of guy who wants to get deep in conversation. And I don't think Jalen's about that at all, you know, and I think that could, you know, some people probably wouldn't admit its intimidation, call it, I don't, you know, I don't know that they feel as though he's an A-hole, maybe I don't know what to do.
Listen, I think you could perceive him as an asshole, but I think that personality, you have to be around it a little bit. And no, can I give you another comparison? It's almost like a Derek Jeter kind of mentality, like almost how Jeter was standoffish with the Yankee team. Right. That's a decent call. Okay. And like you never really knew who Derek Jeter was. I know more about Derek Jeter now being on the Fox test than I did ever when he was a player. Nobody would ever go up to Jeter. You know, they went up to, they went up to Gary Sheffield. They went up to Paul O'Neill. They went up to all those guys. They didn't go up to Derek Jeter. But Jeter was a captain of the football team. So he has that kind of mentality. It's kind of co-bing too. Like, you know, people use that. A little bit of co-bing too. A little bit of co-bing too, yes. Like to have, now the question there would be, Jaylin references those guys a lot. He even referenced them in this interview, Michael and Kobe. And I think where you have a problem with someone doing that is if it comes across as phoning.
Right. You're trying to be Kobe when you're not, you know. To be a phoning, he ain't phoning to me. He ain't phoning to me. I heard that was my next comment. He's not phoning. You know, I think that's truly the way he carries himself. So again, some people might not like that. But I do believe that, and I said this when they won the Super Bowl, that it's one thing to talk to talk. It's another thing to walk the walk. And I think in many ways, Jaylin walks the walk. And it rubbed some people wrong. It ruffles some certain feathers the wrong way. You know, and is what it is. I can understand it. And in a way, it kind of makes me like a more. Don't let, don't compromise on your values on what you believe to be right. Don't compromise on that. The play gate to people's feelings, but their feelings. You know, Jaylin, do you believe what you subscribe to? And he does believe it is the most important thing to subscribe to at this era of your life,
with the position you hold, with the job that you hold. That's winning football games above all else. He would say yes to that. So good. What are you going to break that? You're going to compromise on that. So you make AJ feel better, or anybody else feel better? In fact, I think it kind of makes me like Jaylin a little bit more to be honest with you. Okay. So I thought this was a great comment. Somebody made in the chat here and throw your name up who came up with this. Jaylin has kind of been a contract conversation coming up in this office. He's in the agree. Yeah, I mean, he's gotten less, I think he's got like 20 something guaranteed next year. So there's, there's very, there's some kind of conversation coming up. Absolutely. There's, and I would go this far. I mean, I think everybody knows this from just following the NFL. There's a zero percent chance. The agent will let him take the field with $20 million of guaranteed money next year. It's not happening. So something must be addressed in the next 12 months, let's say before the start of next season.
Why would you, if you're in a cold win or clutch, allow Jaylin hurts to run in 26 and put him in more harms way, then, because I don't believe in clamoring up and playing scared in an, in order to win big. I think Jaylin is a, I thought I saw that a little bit in 23 when I saw that 23 game when it gets to England. I said, this guy's sliding before he gets hit. I don't disagree, but I think the top has to come off on that, man. You know, if I'm, if I'm the agent, I'm actually the opposite. You know, you need, you need to go out there and leave it all on the table. You know, you need to, you need to be the valuable player that we all know that you are in every area of the game. You know, and let the chips fall where they met. If you're going to go into it, because to me, that, to me, we just talk about hurts his mentality. To me, it's kind of the antithesis of the way he carries himself. To play scared or to, or to shy away from the moment. I mean, he's in the pursuit of winning and winning big. We just determined that and established that.
So part of that is you being a great runner of the football, you know, as a quarterback. That's one of the reasons he got the first $50 million contract. So to me, I don't think it should be, I get where you're going though. But I think the pushback to that is Jaylin is not a quarterback that wins from the pocket. For example, a guy who wins from the pocket. You do not want running because then you compromise their ability to win from the pocket. I you Drake, man, Justin Herbert. He's a dual threat kind of guy that's better in the pocket. Barrow, but burrow, but burrow is even a little different because he's such a statue. I mean, he's not going to run. He's more like Brady. I mean, he can a little bit, but Justin Herbert. I mean, he had 70 hours rushing versus like if he didn't have a contract and I was his agent, I'd be like, yo, dude, your arm is good enough to get you paid. Stop running until we get this contract. Agreed. Hurts, I think is different. He's a different player. He's a different, uh, he's a different athlete, a different talent.
And I would not, I would not try and condense that to try and win big. I don't think condensing that gets you the results you want there. So I would say leave it all out on the field. And I'm pretty sure the Eagles will take care of him. If he does, if you guys, I actually think that's what makes it tougher, tougher to pay him. You don't do one thing exceptional. Like those other guys. Well, he does do those guys do those guys do one thing exceptional. That's fair. I mean, I, I liked the versatility of Jaylin, but I'll say this. If I were Jaylin and I'm not, I'm just giving you guys my opinion. Forget if I was Jaylin. If I was how we, I would rather give Jaylin a max extension because he ran his ass off this year and have to figure out, have to get out of the contract early because maybe he loses his legs or he struggles in the future because he can't keep up with that athleticism
for another four or five years. I'd rather figure out how to get out of that contract early, like he's done many other times. Then have to go to the quarterback market next year and say, okay, uh, do we want Mac Jones to be our quarterback? Do we want Tanner McKee to be our quarterback? Like if I'm how we, I'll push that problem down the road and say, I'll deal with that when it comes. You know, I want the best of Jaylin hurts. My best chance of I'm how to win another Super Bowl in the next three years is to get the very most out of Jaylin hurts. Not another quarterback that's not here right now. That'd be my opinion. I don't know if I'm right, but that's the way I would see it. Let me, let me take you back to something you said about not putting relationships above winning with Jaylin hurts. Don't you think you get into a little bit of a problem when things aren't going well and you need to go to that player as the quarterback
and you need to motivate AJ Brown and you need like personally, AJ Brown on the sidelines with a book in his hand. Which was okay. No, no, no, no, wait a minute. Get this. What about what a moat? I mean, oh my gosh, thinking back on that guy's reading a book in a plough game. Wasn't it a plough game? No, I think it was really, it was really. Yeah, okay, listen, but the point I'm making is hurts is not going to address that at any time. Brady, what if I think any quarterback would have addressed that manning what any guy would go and go if you're not focused on winning, AJ was crying out for attention. And I'm with Xander. Wait a second. No, no, no, no, no, no, you know, you know, you know what's funny? You think these guys, some of these guys don't need this, but they do. No, you're right. But it reminds me of like Jaylin is like the freaking the lion in the jungle. That's the same and all the fleas are picking out its ass. And the lion doesn't pay attention to the stupid fleas.
Welcome to the NFL quarter. His tail on way like welcome to the NFL quarterback position. You're not wrong, but I didn't think I didn't think that the gnats would be AJ Brown. Yes, you did. Divas receivers. AJ Owens, the first week he got here, I called him that. Dude, you know what, so I would have an easier time. I would have an easier time with this. If this were Devon they Smith put another thing. Because Devon they Smith is actually the one who hasn't gotten the level of numbers that he could be get it. Again, I brought up the numbers to I don't have sympathy for AJ Brown. He was the fourth highest producing wide receiver in all of professional football. Okay. In his era with Jaylin. I guess what? He's off the team now. And because it wasn't enough for him, dude, right? So some, some people can never be satisfied. Okay. At some point, satisfying them is a losing game. Okay. Do you think that Mike Tomlin and Ben Rathasberger handled Antonio Brown for nine years?
Well, yeah, but did Brady cut bait on him when it was when it was. It became too much. At some point, it's like a pen. I agree. It's a pendulum. Certain times compromised to make somebody happy make sense. That's a situation. Something. No, it gets to the point where you got to pull away from that big mission. Brett, no, guess who pulled away from Antonio Brown in New England. It was Bella checked because what happened the following year? Brady brought his ass to Tampa. Yeah, but I don't think I don't think Antonio that wasn't Brady. I don't think AB is the right comp. Bro, wait a second. Well, wait, yes, it is because there's a high level guy you have to babysit. I think Michael Irvin is a better. Okay. Okay. Michael Irvin loves Troy Ackman. AJ Brown does not love Jalen Hertz. Jalen Hertz. Well, AJ Brown is more sensitive and more emotional than Michael Irvin. And he's a more jealous dude. I don't know.
You put me in a tough spot. I'm not Michael Irvin. No, okay. I don't think Michael Irvin felt threatened. Is that a better way to frame it? No, Michael Irvin's never threatened about anything in his life. I think how about this? He's not less emotional. He's more secure. He's less insecure than AJ. Michael Irvin's secure and everything he does in his life. It may not be the right thing. Exactly. But he is. That's kind of how I feel about Jalen too. I mean, Jalen's that way. Okay. So explain this to me on Dach. So I didn't think so. George Pickens was a nightmare in Pittsburgh. Was he not? I don't know if he was a nightmare or was he? They moved off him because they couldn't take his ways any longer. In my time, sometimes my time. Okay. He's a little bit of a buttercup too. Folks. Everybody knows that George Pickens was very unhappy and they were unhappy with his. Okay. Well, what happened? Why can Dach press out in shot and hammerhandle him so easily?
That's my question to you. Well, maybe it's maybe that thing will run its course too. So what's the trend here? They're all receivers. You get about three years with them. And then you probably want to know. I know. I know. I'm not. I think the boss it will that won't be true. No, okay. No, I'm hoping it's not. No, no way. There's no, there's no way that guy has ever been that guy. Three years, give me three years and then blow him out of here. No, no, there's just no way. Okay. So that hurts an age. I think there was clearly. Was two guys just. Fellow fell off the, they fell off the cliff. Yeah. I'm doing. I'm doing. Okay. Okay. Okay. Now, do you agree with this? What was the difference between the first two years with AJ? In the last two years of AJ? Well, there were certainly more balls going his way. I mean, he had 1500 yard to year this first two years. So it was definitely safe on bark. It was the difference though. I mean, he came and showed up. So it hurts decided to look at it this way. Right. Oh, we're going to win more.
Through bark Lee's legs than AJ's hands. or that insecurity comes into play. And that's what the end of the relationship. Do you agree that's what ended the relationship? That's a big part of it. I mean, I brought a Michael Irvin in the insecurity. I don't think he was ever insecure about what's his barrier. Emmett Smith. Emmett Smith, running the ball. I mean, you know why? There was no other Davante Smith on that cowboy team. That's true. But at the same time, I think they were all still more brought in on the collect. Now, again, when you were when you because Michael had Michael had bought in in the collective at Miami with Jimmy. Well, and I think there is it's it's very normal. I think there's like a difference of being like AJ and then wanting the ball like a normal athlete. When you're trying to win big and you believe in yourself to the level that some of these athletes have confidence in themselves, the most natural thing in the world, which cannot be
disputed or criticized in any way is that they want the ball because they believe it gives their team the best chance to win. If I'm Michael Irvin and I think I'm the best receiver on planet earth, obviously I want the ball. I think we're going to win when you throw me the ball. I think AJ felt that at times, but I also think he was unwilling to allow that ball to be spread around or to allow other people to flourish in that same light. Because as good as AJ as a wide receiver, St. Paul was every bit as good if not better as a running back. And at the time, that was more productive for the Eagles than going to AJ Brown was and they they rode that on hand and I would never knock them for that or criticize them for that to try and satisfy AJ Brown, who seemingly can be can never be satisfied anyway. I'm going to make this very clear to you, Zander. Jalen Hertz puts everything above or below winning. Everything is below winning.
Everything he does in his life. I think that's a good thing. And did I buy that? I sure did. It what I didn't feel like like listen, I would just be fair. I just don't think he comes off as like a very close teammate. He doesn't want to get too close because he knows you may have to make decisions because again, there's a price to play paid for for leadership. And that leadership, what he's telling you is, I don't care who's on his football thing, dude. Like when he was even asked a question about the Vonte, hey, now you're guys number one in a paraphrasing as well here. He goes, Hey, I can't wait to see his skills out on display. Instead of coming out going, man, he's been waiting his whole time. He's been telling me behind the scenes. What he really he's been wanting to do. And now we're going to get a chance to do it like we were at Alabama, but it was like a company answer. And so he answered it like, you know, it just comes off like it's not very personal. Like he doesn't come off like a personal dude, dude.
Like he's not a very personable with like a personality kind of guy. That doesn't bother me. I mean, okay. All right. Hey, dude, I know a lot of quarterbacks like that. I'm not very personable in my life. I'm more person. I'm far more personable on the air than I am not. You guys would be surprised. You'd be really surprised. Ask my in-laws. Hey, bro, I'm a loner too. People would be shocked. I mean, I don't mind. I love people. I'm good with it. I'm good with it. Yeah, absolutely. Zander, answer me this on this new offense that you guys are going to run. Now, I want to get this right. It's a style of green Bayes offense. Is that correct? I guess. I mean, it's hard. I don't love playing that because. And it's Sean McVase offense. Is that right? Well, I think it's a hybrid of the West Coast. I think it's a hybrid of what the, you know, this more evolved passing
version spread. Some of this modern game stuff. But again, it's hard to me. It's hard to say exactly what it is until we really see what they're trying to do. And so I don't even think it's one game or four games. I think it's like the first eight games because you talk about, and you've won me over so well on the point that September is just a line month of football, especially in the new age with the preseason. And until week eight to week 10, it's hard to really get a gauge on the proper trends. You know, bear approaches to say a three games is a trend. Yeah. You know, but a lot of those early trends, those first four games, I think it's tough to look for trends. Then you get five, six and seven, and you're still like, all right, that's the first three games period where I trust. Now let me figure out, you know, where they are in that week eight, nine and 10. So I don't think we're going to really know, but I guess calling it a version of Green Bay would be fair. Yes. And McVeigh, right? Yeah, I think.
Yes. Okay. I presume. Okay. Well, help me out on this. You want to run an offense that you're six and oh against Green Bay in the Rams. You beat the Rams four times. You beat the Packers twice. You've never lost to those teams in Surrey, on each time. And you want to run their offense? Well, you beat Handelie. I disagree at this point. A lot of people make it just not the way I see it personally. I think the team result and the individual size of the ball are like, for example, the Eagles beat the Rams. Are you telling me that they couldn't have had a better offense in that game? I'm telling you that you're going to run an offense that you have massive success against and you think you're going to make the ball. But why do the Eagles have a massive success against them? Because they ran the ball. Well, but also because of why they play defense. They have great defense. So to me, it's not, I'm not a fan of saying you're becoming what the Rams are. We're running more of what they're offense.
Why couldn't you put your name on your own offense? Well, they've tried to do that, but they've struggled to find some of that identity. Because one, I think it's hard to find coaches that want to coach this because this is the way the club works, everybody. They all come, all these offensive coaches come up learning the same offense. It's like anything in your life, right? If you're trying to be a whatever the case might be, you'll watch the most successful guys that are making the most amount of money and say, how can I build my version of that? All these offensive guys, they're not paying offensive coaches. Ben Johnson, $17 million for year one to be a run first guy. They're not higher in offensive coordinator, clink, kubiacs and shana hands and make waves and shield houses and all these dudes getting and Kevin O'Conn. They're not higher in those offensive minds to be run first guys, to simplify offensive game points. It might be the right move, but it clashes with what I think some of the coaching career
aspirations are. So I think you have lesser coaches looking to run it. I think you have lesser players looking to run it because like AJ Brown, it's not as productive statistic wise. Really, the only people I think would welcome it would be the running backs because they become a bruiser and get to ball 450 times a year. So I think that's part of it, but I don't agree with the notion of why are you trying to play their offense when you beat them? Like our team beat them. Our offense did it. We beat the Packers last year. I think it was like 10 to 7, wasn't it? Yep, yeah, something like that. I mean, we beat the shit out of them defensively. Are you arguing with me that they beat them offensively? I mean, they did not. So I'm not sure if better. Yeah, but your old way defensive approach. Yeah, but your old way of running your offense was more successful than Sean McVeigh's way of running his. Well, no, it's not offensively. If you boiled down offense and football, no, it's not.
I mean, you said all the time. They were the two. Wait, I thought we were talking about the collective here. Well, we're talking about the collective when it comes to the results of the games. Like, what is it? Well, what is it we're talking about? Why are they playing their offense? You can, to me, you can improve your offense without changing the way that you won games like on as a collective. Winning a football game is not my offense played better than your offense. See, this is where I disagree with you. I don't think you could just go like this. Guys, tell you what we're going to do. We're going to all of a sudden turn the offense inside out. We're going to change with the same personnel. And we're going to do the same shit with the same personnel. That'd be like asking Matthew Stafford to run on our P.O. Yeah, but I don't think I don't think playing their offense means you get rid of that great defense. I don't think it gets rid of the reasons that the Eagles have been so successful versus those teams. Okay, like I said, though, just because it doesn't look aesthetic, you had more success than the Chomeg-Ve offense.
You've had more success than the Green Bay offense. What they have in offensive way. No, they haven't. Okay, now they have collectively. They've won. So yes, so they're trying to, they're trying to make the offense look better. They want more important looking, making the offense look better or winning ball games. Winning ball games, 100%, but is it a fair thought process to think collectively we want to keep winning at the level we are. But individually, meaning offense, not individual players. On the offensive side of the ball, we want to be bent. Okay, I think that's a fair aspiration. I think that's a fair thing to chase. To me, that doesn't, that doesn't mean to me that you're trying to turn into one of these other teams that you beat. To me, that doesn't answer, well, you beat them four times. Why are you trying to become it? No, I'm not. I'm just trying to improve our offense. And they do some things that we might be able to implement that could improve our offense. That doesn't mean I'm trying to become it or play like it.
Okay. And the reason I asked this question is because here, here's a quote. He was on Nick Seriani was also on WIP. Nick Seriani talks about implementing the new offense this off season with Oseash on Manin. It's been a lot of fun. We changed for a reason. Zander, what was that reason? Because the offense has, you know, I think it hasn't been effective enough to provide the spark it needs to provide to play complimentary football. You know, the running game is so great in 24 and they feel like that maybe isn't going to be able to come back at that level. So if you don't make my. I just sound like H.A. No, because I think AJ wanted to compromise the big picture just to serve one smaller need. It's again, it's what I just said. I think you can still serve the big picture while wanting to improve your offense.
Are you insinuating to me that the only way the Eagles can be as successful as they've been the last four years is to be the 25th ranked offense and football? I'm insinuating that that formula of what Jayla Hertz talks about in winning. Like he said, I don't get why more things at once came. I don't get why you can't multiple. Wait, wait, wait, why would you change something that works and win? And again, the individual offense hasn't worked that well. It didn't work that well last year. Zander, like I said, though, the number one thing is your bottom floor is 11 wins. I mean, you're talking about a football team that's gone through the greatest era of football. And you changed because you wanted to look aesthetically better on offense. That is something to do with winning. I see it differently. I think you can be on the same pursuit while still trying to improve your offense.
To me, that doesn't mean you're gutting everything you did to achieve success. Like, okay, well, if you think you're going to all of a sudden be a passing offense, I'm not saying you do. If you think they're going to be all of a sudden a balanced football team, I don't. This is why I don't agree with. I'm still waiting to see what they're going to be, but I'm fine with them saying that we want to try and improve this offense. And to me, that doesn't mean that they're gutting the way they've won games. I think that's I feel like to me, that's to me, that's living on the extremes. You know, they were the 25th or 26 or 27th all. Like, that's not good. You know, like, like, it's fair to say, all right, we, how do we keep winning games, but how do we improve this so that we increase our margin for error so that we give ourselves a better shot in the playoffs first of 49ers so that we give ourselves the best chance to win and go to the NFC championship game so that we give ourselves the best chance to win. So when we play in a Super Bowl, you know, I think it's fair to. I think it's fine for multiple things there to be true. I do. I don't think it means you're gutting the way you want.
That's just my. Okay, fair enough. Do you agree with me on this? Smithy season for 2026 is going to determine the output of what. Don Tavy and Wix's game is going to be this year, meaning this. If this guy doesn't give you at least five 600 yards this year, if you think Smith is going to have over 1200 yards, you're crazy. Because I agree with John, they're just going to drop a safety down. I'm going to force those other guys to beat them. And then you put more pressure on your run game. There's again, I mean, you've got to count on a quarterback who's not an anticipation throwing quarterback. To help the passing game. Don Tavy and Wix's year is going to determine how good Smithy is by helping him get open. Bro, really, so you don't think that you're going to double the rest of those guys are not very good.
I said, you need me answer. I said, I think Smithy is a good enough player to have success in that environment on his own. I don't think it all comes down to Don Tavy and Wix. Now, to your point, absolutely complimentary football makes things better for everybody. The tick-1 runs well and Wix catches the ball when they leave him open or they give you know, the Eagles take advantage of where the defense is giving you holes. Hell yeah, it's going to make life easier on Devonte Smith, but I don't think all of his success is going to come down to what Wix does. Okay. In fact, I would put, I would take exactly what you explained and say that applies more to Barclay. Are you saying that if Devonte is what Barclay's level of success to me would have a bigger impact on Smith's level of success than Wix? In my opinion. That's not a terrible take. I would, I would, I would only say this to you though, I would say listen, for me, I think you got to have another guy on the other side.
I really do. So you think he's going to have Devonte Smith, I was just looking up Devonte Smith's numbers here. So Devonte Smith's year without AJ was this albeit rookie year. So, but his rookie year yet 64 catches for 916 yards without AJ on the field with AJ on the field 1196, 1066. Miss some ball games of 26 got hurt still at 833 and last year at a thousand eight yards. You think that he's going to have a better season than any of the years he's put together so far and he'll have a career year this year. Do you think that? I think he's going to, I think he's going to have a better year because of volume, you know, because of the year. The sheer need to get him involved. I mean, when you don't have as many playmakers to spread the ball around to, then you're most important guys become number one. Like, for example, I'll use basketball. Why does Steph Curry average 35 in the playoffs with the Warriors, but in the Olympics, they all average 18.
Every fucking guy is good. So, I think Devate is more focused this year because there's not as many good players out there. So, I think he's going to have a better. So, the offensive passing game goes through Smith then, right? Definitely. Passing game 100%. So, they're not, they're going to not really try to spread it around them. They're going to still force it to one guy. Well, I think they're going to try and be spreading it a little bit more, but I don't, I'm more I'm waiting C-Mode on that to be honest with you because I'm not really of the belief right now that the third wide receiver, if it is McCoy Leman has instilled much belief in the quarter back or the staff to like force get him the ball. Like, if you got a great wide receiver through, it's like, all right, let's throw the let's throw some wrinkles at this defense. Let's get him on their toes. Let's spread him out a little bit. Let's get the ball in the hands of Y. We're three and four so we can, you know, make him change the way they're playing coverage.
Make them change whether double team double team in the Vante Smith. I don't think McCoy Leman is demanding that yet. Maybe he will in the year, but hey, did you hear that great comment by Nick today? Why he's got four wide, why he's got four quarterbacks. Nick, it was Nick. He was on, he goes because it's one of the most competitive rooms that we have. Oh my gosh. It's a horrible room. Nick after jail and her to it might be the one of the worst quarter back of quarterback rooms in the league right now. I don't know what happened to Ken and McKay. He was fine a year ago or felt like he was. Yeah, not it's not showing yet. It's not showing man is fault, right? I might be. Jerry's still out on him. What is man, what is that an Irishman? I think so. Yeah, see, let's get to the supers here, man. I got to tell you, bro. Irish. Hey, I'll tell you this. Listen to this, man.
This team never ceases to amaze me on content. That that interview on GQ was fucking big sales goal. I mean, it was so I'm watching this guy like answer questions. Love Jalen her. You you deep down. Oh, I didn't think he'd be this fun to cover. I thought he was a stiff. You're you love him. He's still not. He's so not. You love him. I know what I love it. Can I tell you this? I'm like the Joker in Batman. Why do you want to kill me then? Kill you. You complete me. I know what you mean. I know what you're saying. I know what you mean. Joe Shver said hurts men up at the best pure pastor like Joshua Lamar but quarterback is more than stats. He wins. Elevates a big moment in deliver in the biggest stage. I mean, yeah, but there's other things to the quarterback position. To the net. Joshua. I think I'll give you this Joshua.
And maybe you. You will. I think of all the quarterbacks in Pro Football. within a system that allows them to win ball games. And here's the one thing he doesn't do. He doesn't give them resistance. The Lisa Mono resistance gives you the best formula for success. Just some areas, yeah. I mean, he made some comments that I thought you would harp a little bit more on in terms of the offense and all the changes around them, but you know, that's just kind of the way that he was a runner right now. Yeah, but that's all, that shit was old news, right? Yeah, I agree. I thought all in all it was a good interview though. I said it earlier in a second. I liked it. I mean, I thought it was cool, but all right, chills. Woo! Baby, man. Holy cow, how about them Cowboys, man? A lot of people got the Cowboys this year. Highly ranked. What are you thinking of boys? It's the offseason. I mean, they love their time of year, but I think the Cowboys,
it's gonna be hard to do what they did on offense last year. It's like Sequan Barclay in 24, right? I mean, you can have a good year. It's gonna be hard to replicate that. The offense, Cowboys offense was great, by the way. It was also great because they were losing half the games by two or three touchdowns because they're defense suck. And I'm not convinced they've done enough on defense to get to the level they need to get to, but I'll give them this. I think they'll be the second team in the NFC East. Okay, here's one here, Z. Here's Lam, what's up, Lam? Clippers are cooked for the next 20 years. Adam Silver just came down big on them. Oh, wow. Shirt them five first round picks. Here's what they did. They shook them. They circumnavigated a like a signing bonus with Kawaii Leonard, and that made him a free agent. Wow, Kawaii Leonard could sign with Philly. Wow, so this is true then. $30 million fine to Steve Balmer,
suspensions for Balmer Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, whoever that is. So why would I pay 700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers, for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. Ooh, and five first round picks. He's an automatic free agent too. No, no, they're not doing that. Oh, they're not letting him out. No contract void or suspension for that. Okay, well wait, I thought they tried trading him to the Toronto Raptors. I don't know what you're up for on the story that I thought the Robert and who was fired by Leonard and June is being banned by the NBA from all business. Wow, devastating, devastating for that dude. All right, good thing nobody gives a shit about the Clippers. I'll say I'll tell you this. The business that the Clippers, how about this, Big Z? I never thought I'd ever see this in a billion years on an Eagle channel. Philly 500 is honoring the Dallas Cowboys today
in Cowboy Blue. I can't believe what I'm seeing here, man. Philly 500 is honoring the Cowboys in Cowboy Blue. Hold me. I don't know, I'm gonna ask Philly. Is does he make these hats himself? Because I can't find that hat right now. Oh yeah. I make hot hat. Wait, he makes these hats? I know, I don't know. But I love his, I love the variation of hats he does that. All right, Big Z, I will catch you in the morning, my friend. All right, dude, later. You got it. That is Andrew Kraus.
