The Minnesota Wild Podcast is presented exclusively by AcroShore. We're through two periods in Vegas and what a game it's been and the wild explode explode for three goals in that second period they come just over three minutes apart and they're beautiful. And the wild in a matter of seconds have blown this game open.
Three goals in three minutes and six seconds. The Bogosian and McCarran goals come 18 seconds apart. It goes from a 0-0 hockey game to the wild holding steady with a 3-0 advantage. That's where we sit through 40 minutes of plays. Act Bogosian had the second goal of the hockey game and his second goal of the season. He's with Joe O'Donnell at T-Mobile Arena. Back here at T-Mobile Arena of the Wild three. The Golden Knights nothing after two periods of play joined by wild defenseman Zach Bogosian. A great period for your team. Let's just start with what you like the most in period two from your side. I thought we had some good ozone time. I do think that Gus bailed us out a couple times there and made some big saves. They had a couple shifts where they had us hemmed in. So, you know, we got to get that puck stopped in the D zone. Get it going north and go play in the fun zone. John Hines talked about this morning when I asked him what he's like through the first two meetings against the Golden Knights. The puck pressure applies the gaps by the defenseman and the neutral zone in those areas. How have you guys fared through two periods today? Yeah, I like it. I think, you know, the 6D that are playing everyone can skate.
So, I think we can set our gaps early and try to create turnovers. You know, kind of half ice them a little bit. So, yeah, I like where we're at right now. We're just going to continue that pressure. All right. Take us through your goal. Second of the season. You had to break away slap shot against Tampa the other night that didn't go your way. That's one of bomb that you're able to fire through with some traffic in front. What'd you say? Yeah, I mean the other night. The break away was fun, but the difference between the goal tonight and the other night was this one hit the net. So, you know, it was a good, it was on shifts and puck pressure. And I just honestly try to get it on net and there was some traffic in front. And, you know, luckily, luckily winning. All right. Last thing as you guys get ready for the third here and we appreciate your time. Brock Faber stepping up for a newcomer and Bobby Brink. Yeah. And the way you guys as a team play with that camaraderie. How important is that? Yeah, it's huge. I mean, anytime, you know, you don't want Brock doing that very often. But, you know, it kind of sparks the group shows what type of character that Brock is and the group that we have in that room.
So, you know, it's, you don't love to see it, but you do love to see it. Thanks for doing this. Good luck in the third. Yeah, thank you. Thank you. That's Wildest Fenceman Zach Bogosian back to you, Kevin. Thank you, Joe, for joining us in the intermission. Bogo will get a gift certificate down to Tom Reed's hockey city pub. You know, they're partying down there while they're up 3-0. The boy stayed high school hockey tournament going on up the street. Having some fun at Tom Reed's hockey city pub. You can too, championship Saturday all day tomorrow at Tom Reed's hockey city pub. Through 40 minutes, the wild lead the Vegas Golden Knights 3-Zip. We'll catch up with Alex Staylock after the break. This is Wildhockey presented by Grand Casino. Drive by McErin, covering back there for the defense. Didn't have much behind it, and now it'll break the other way. In a load sentence denied by Gustafsett on the left hand, stopping at Andy.
Yeah, don't forget when this was a 0-0 hockey game. A lot of it was because of the play of Philip Gustafsett. He stops eight in the first and another 10 in the second. 18 saves total with a goose egg by his name. On the other end of the ice, the wild doing some good things. With three goals and three minutes and six seconds, Zookarello Bogosian and McErin. Put him out to a 3-0 advantage after 40 minutes of play in the Vegas. That's where Alex Staylock is standing by, filling in admirably once again for Mr. Tom Reed. This is some fun hockey to watch here, Alex especially. When you're a goal-tender, see the boys light it up for three goals in above three minutes. That's takes some pressure off. Yeah, and you know, it just shows what this team's all about. In a few 30 plays in that period and Barbershave, you know, takes a run at favor. Or when he's just a few feet from the boards, goals in awkwardly. He ends up being fine from that. And shortly after, it was Lausanne who, you know, hits a recently acquired Bobby Brink into the boards. And immediately Brock Faber answers the bell.
And it just shows how this team is inside the locker room. How tight they are. How much they play for each other. And they get rewarded in the offensive zone. Good hard for checks below the goal. I get in the newly acquired McCarrants turn and puck over. Turn the puck over. Trend and skate and hard. Getting in there on the for check. Turn and pucks over there. Their bottom six is on a terrific job. Making it tough on the Vegas goal. The nice defenders tonight. Let's squeeze in a couple of questions. A short version of Tom Reed's hotline filling in. Of course, it's Alex Stalex. Send those questions and now 64686. We'll start with this one from the 952 area code. Alex, what do you expect from McCarran? What's he going to contribute to this lineup? When he's in, what does he do well? A goal, a goal of game, right? Start you on tonight. That's just what he's going to be. It's a goal score. I mean, you can get that effectiveness out of him. You get in today and you get comfortable with this group. You see what he does. He's not the huge check. He's not always pulling up the defender. But he gets in. He's got that long range.
He turns pucks over. And opposing defenders are taking a double and a third look over their shoulder. Who's coming in on the for check? Do this one from Seth and Shoreview. Throw this one at you. I got a chance to watch a lot of the class A action. In semifinal Friday. You said if you weren't on the road with the wild and filling in for time, you're going to take your kids out to the boy state high school hockey tournament that was stolen from you. However, what do you think about the action? I experienced a little fomo on the road. Oh, yeah. I mean, we've been watching. I mean, we got it up. So we got the more head. You're dying to game up on the computer in the press box right now. You know, keeping an eye on it. But you know, a hitting war old for the championship game for the class. How cool is that? And it's just, you know, we were to talk to John King today. He had a friend up from Illinois and he just said how many times is his buddy? You know, came to the tournament for the first time. He's like, what is this? What is going on? He just fully couldn't understand how you get 18,000 people to come watch high school kids in the state of hockey.
It's a blast, man. And now it looks like more head has gone up three zip over Edina. If they advance, they'll take on Minnetaka. That would be three teams from up north. I consider more head up north. Three teams from up north advancing the championship Saturday. It's going to be a hoot tomorrow at Grand Casino Arena. Let's jump to this one. Jim in St. Cloud. It says Bill Gehrin says he wants this team to have fun down the stretch into the playoffs. For you, Alex, you've been traded a couple of times. What's it like to play in your first game with a new team after being traded? Well, you got to come in and get acquainted with the new group. And so many of these guys have played with each other or know each other. And you get the tax, say, hey, how is it? You know, and all we've heard is the feedback. You're reaching out to quit managers. They're all awesome guys. Yeah. You're going to love them. You're going to love them. And it's always good. And they, you know, do these guys. Bill Gehrin does his homework. Matt Hendricks. They're fishing around. They're bringing in only good guys into this locker room. They know what this locker room has already. And it's, you know, these guys are perfect fits.
And, you know, getting traded, obviously. You know, it's whether you're a family or whatever it may be. It's a sudden adjustment. But once you get here inside that locker room in this time of year, when your GM goes out and adds this many pieces, you know, it's for the right reason. You've earned it as a group. And you have a chance at making a push. They're an excited group. They're going to have fun down the stretch. You can see tonight. They're excited. They're playing with jump. It's going to be fun to watch down the stretch. Head into playoffs. It's going to be a blast. Alex, thank you. You bet. Alex, stay like from Team Oble Arena, wildly the Golden Knights 3-0. Let's pause 10 seconds for station identification. You're listening to Wild Hockey. Presented by Graham Casino. Three rip for the good guys. The third is next from the desert.
