I'm Cory with the story, and this is your Pulse of the World, Global News Today. A 19-year-old Mexican man died Monday at a federal detention center in Florida, becoming the youngest known person to pass away in immigration. Custody during the Second Trump administration, Roye Perez-Hemenes was held at the Glades County Detention Center in More Haven. Officials presume it was a suicide after he was found unresponsive in the early morning hours. I've tried to resuscitate him for nearly 10 minutes, but it didn't work. He faced felony fraud charges for impersonating and resisting an officer. Perez-Hemenes, first crossed into the U.S. in 2022, got sent back by Border Patrol and re-entered illegally sometime later. This marched the 12th immigrant death in federal custody so far this year. Last year saw 31 such deaths, the most in two decades. I says the official cause is still under investigation. Meanwhile, the agency stresses his dedication to safe, secure environments with full medical
care from arrival through release. This episode is supported by our sponsor, C Details in the Description. If sleep podcasts are your thing, this is your pillow, built for comfort and calm, it's O.L.I. SoleyPillow.com.
