About this episode
Thanks for listening! Let us know what you think. God bless!
Gina Christian of OSV News catches you up on the Catholic news of the day for June 20, 2025. In this episode: On World Refugee Day (June 20), Bishop Mark J. Seitz of El Paso, Texas, chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Migration, said that solidarity with refugees and migrants "is not optional," but rather "a living testimony of the Gospel." Ahead of Canada's National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, that nation's Catholic bishops said Indigenous peoples are "a blessing to the Church and Canadian society." England's bishops expressed their sadness after an assisted suicide bill was passed in the House of Commons by a narrow majority today and now heads to the House of Lords. A major pro-life win may be on the horizon as President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" moves through the Senate, but some -- including Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia --are warning the bill could hurt families and persons in need. In Brazil, new data shows while Catholic numbers are still falling and evangelical churches continue to grow, the pace of this religious shift has noticeably slowed.
