President Trump held a press briefing at the White House today, telling reporters that the U.S. and Iran have had talks about a potential peace deal to end the war. Despite public denials by Iran's foreign minister Trump said the two sides are talking, but he stresses that he does not believe Iran is ready to agree to a deal, and he believes that maybe tied to questions about the country's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Kamanayi. A lot of people are saying that he's badly disfigured. They're saying that he lost his leg, the one leg, and he's been hurt very badly. Other people are saying he's dead. President Trump also revealed that the U.S. has struck more than 7,000 targets across Iran, most of which have been commercial and military targets. The aim is to not only destroy Iran's stockpiles of missiles and drones, but to severely degrade the regime's ability to make more. Members of the European Union today said they will not allow the Iranian conflict to
steal the spotlight from what's happening in Ukraine. EU foreign policy achieved Kajakullis. Ministers were clear that Ukraine remains European top security priority and attention for Ukraine will not be allowed to fizzle out. European leaders added that they have no intention of expanding the EU naval mission in the Middle East to the straight-of-form moves, despite President Trump's call to help police the strait. A pro-life organization is investing big in Ohio ahead of this year's midterm elections. World's Dennis Crowley explains, The Susan B. Anthony pro-life America and Women's Speak Out Pack are spending three and a quarter million dollars to urge Ohio voters to vote pro-life in November. Officials with the pro-life groups say many pro-life voters do not consistently vote in the midterm elections, and they are working to change that. Volunteers will be knocking on the doors of half a million homes. The campaign will
include digital advertising, mail, and an early vote campaign. The Ohio campaign is part of an 18 million dollar effort to reach at least 10 and a half million voters across the nation. For world, I'm Dennis Crowley. Afghanistan has accused Pakistan's military of targeting a hospital in Kabul and air strikes that killed and wounded several people. Mondays strikes came hours after Afghan officials said the two sides exchanged fire along their border, killing four people in Afghanistan, as the deadliest fighting between the neighbors and years entered a third week. Pakistan accuses Kabul of harboring militant groups, which it says carry out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. For World Radio, I'm Kent Covington.
