Sunday mornings with Joanna and Sean. Thank you so much for waking up with us. And we are so excited every year about the month of March for our annual Women Who Shine program, where we get to highlight incredible women doing incredible things here in our community. And joining us this morning, Teresa Van, she's the owner of NV training right here in the Valley. Thank you so much for being part of our show this morning. Coming in. Thank you so much for having me, guys. So I also will like to say, Teresa is my personal trainer. We started our journey together a few weeks back. And so I've gotten to know her in a short period of time and realized really quickly that she is quite the force to be reckoned with here in our community. And so, Teresa, I want you to kind of let everybody know a little bit about your background, your journey to being the owner of a very successful business NV training here in our community. Thank you so much. And it's such a pleasure to train you. I know we've only been together for a couple of weeks. Let's go. It's been an absolute pleasure. So yeah, so my name is Teresa. I'm actually originally from New Jersey. And I moved to Las Vegas, young when I was 17. I went to UNLV.
I got an English degree there. And also a hotel management degree. But I was also a dancer, a professional dancer. So I danced in the shows for about 10 years here. And I also traveled with some musical artists, et cetera. We could name drop some of those. Can we? Yeah, we can. Pitbull. Yeah. Mr. 305, it's the whole wide. That's my jam right there. That's his wide. So I had to say, what is genuinely the nicest guy behind the scenes? I mean, really, it's such a grateful man. So I was a choreographer for the weekend for a bit as well. Wow. And so I retired right after that. And then decided that I just wanted to move a little bit more into the giving space and to the sharing space. So professional dance was a lot about just me and entertainment and performing and just got to the point where I just knew that I had a gift that I wanted to share. So being so physical with dance, I knew that I wanted to use those same tools. And so I expanded into the gym space.
So I became a personal trainer. And then decided that I grew my space. So why that I outgrew the place I was working in and then I opened up my own. So. Which is amazing. I mean, to go from dancer to business owner is quite the transition. Now, thinking back to your career and where you are at today, if you were to give yourself a piece of advice, maybe on that first day when you really decided to take that leap of faith to be a business owner, what would be that advice that you wish somebody would have given you? You know, I thrive a lot on organic growth. And so I always thought that, you know, organic growth meant slow growth or meant really not putting yourself out there as much. So I think I played it small. You know, I started with one and then I went to two and it was very slow because I was just, I didn't have the confidence to put myself out there enough and didn't really use the tools that I could have used. Sure. Because I was just so, I really wanted to ground myself
in that organic growth again. So I would probably say, just put yourself out there more. You know, think a little bit bigger. You're still organically growing even if you do put yourself out there and using all the platforms and tools that are out there. Take the chance. Right. Absolutely. I look at people that do what you do with so much more than just, you know, personal trainers. A lot of the time you're like, you're a life coach, right? You're there during some of the hardest times people are going through and I think helping people achieve that self-actualization, that self-improvement of the greatest gifts you can give people. Right. And you probably have a lot of motivational things that you tell people along the way to keep them locked in or looking for hope, you know, and finding that headspace. Do you have any like quotes, things that you live by, things that you tell yourself or your clients? Right. I think trusting the process, I mean, you hear that a lot, but really, you know, it's not a one-size-fits-all for everyone, fitness or wellness or anything for that matter, just one-size-fits-all. So really trusting the fact that putting one step ahead
every single day in the positive direction will eventually pan out for you and your goals. Oh, I love that. Trust the process and listen. As my personal trainer, I'm in that right now with her and at NV Training, we blast the music there. Yeah, we do. Teresa keeps it fun. So I definitely want to ask you this question this morning. If you could pick any song, one song, and I know you love all types of music, but if you could really pick a song that represents who you are, your anthem, let's call it. What would that song be and why? Um, I mean, started from the bottom, but Drake could talk to me like, you know, that would be one of the best. I also say that I love like that baddie energy music, like letter-cook by Glorilla, like that. If I throw that on, like, you know, so those two, I really like, I enjoy those. Empowerment, fast track, love that, love that. Yeah, there's hand-in-hand would pit bull. There you go. Yeah, yeah. Gotta throw those right there in the playlist as well. Yes. So we are all surrounded by inspiring women around us every single day. Are there anyone that has motivated you that you've looked to as kind of an inspiration in your life?
Um, I mean, obviously, you know, my mother and my grandmother, they both were born in Italy and they became American citizens and they kind of forged their way through, you know, their own businesses. So on that front, family front, that, but also, you know, any kind of, anyone that does anything on an Olympic level, yeah, I find just, so she carry Richardson for me. Like, I love her, you know, I love that she, she owns her style, you know, she's had setbacks and she forged through that as well. So yeah, I really, like, if I'm feeling low or if I'm feeling like I need motivation, I'll throw on one of her videos and it just, it ramps me up. I love that. And I'm sure you meet really inspirational women every single day because that's what you've created. We really safe space for women to go kind of let everything out and be the best versions of themselves. So where can people actually learn more about envy training? Want to plug your Instagram, your website? Sure. So envytraining.com will have all the information about scheduling, pricing, et cetera. You really can get a good feel for what we do on our Instagram at envy training, LV or our TikTok,
which is the same at envy training LV. We've got some great videos. Just you can kind of get the layout. We're outdoor indoor space. So you'll be able to see where, you know, where you'd be working out. We have a great view of the strip as well. So it's really something for everyone. I love your energy. I can run through a wall right now. He's going to get it down the door. He's actually my first radio interview like that I've done. Yeah, like I said, I'd put yourself out there more. So here I am. I love that. You're living the motto, right? Some people have motto. Exactly. Some people, right? Take advice, but then do they actually live it? And you're actually doing that. So Teresa Van, owner of envy training. Thank you so much for being a part of our Women Who Shine 2026. Thank you so much for having me, guys.
