Woman Convicted for False Rape Allegation in Hong Kong

After making a rape allegation against a man she visited there, Isabel Rose traveled to Hong Kong early last year to see the British national she met earlier in Thailand. Prosecutor said she demanded 5,000 pounds soon after the claimed assault, and later upped it to 100,000 pounds while threatening. Police action leading to his arrest and quick release without charges. Rose has insisted she was the real victim and reported the incident within 72 hours. Her legal team explained the guilty verdict that she cried in court with her mother flying in from London for support. The case wrapped up after a trial in Wanchai District Court where the judge ruled the prosecution proved its points beyond reasonable doubt. Rose, who racked up heavy legal and living costs over two years on bail, now faces time behind bars. She has been held in custody ahead of sentencing on July 27th and will mark her 26th birthday
