WiSP News Desk: S4E22 - Tobin Heath & Christen Press Make Headlines

Football makes headlines this week, even before the international season kicks off, and it’s the USWNT legends Tobin Heath and Christen Press who share the limelight for very different reasons. Tobin, 34, who was recently released from Arsenal following injuries has reportedly been acquired by the NWSL West Coast team, OL Reign. Meanwhile, nearly 1000 miles south in LA, her friend and former USWNT teammate Christen Press has been sidelined for the rest of the season with an ACL tear of her right knee. Christen, 33, had scored earlier in the game and also had an assist to her credit against Racing Louisville before being struck down in the second half. Elsewhere the USWNT roster for two Friendlies this month and the CONCACAF tournament next month have been named. And across the pond, England has named its squad for the UEFA 2022 Euros starting on July 6.. Plus Nancy has gender parity news from Spain. We also have an update on the WNBA player Brittney Griner’s detention in Russia. And Eastbourne and Wimbledon tennis fans can expect to see Serena Williams playing in the doubles, while the US Open organizers have announced they will allow Russian and Belarusian players into the tournament, unlike Wimbledon.
