Wisconsin Badgers: New Coaching Staff, High Stakes

0:00On March 31st, since Luke Fickle became head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers in 2023, the coaching staff has flipped almost completely, especially on offense. He rolled in with a fresh crew led by offensive coordinator Phil Longo and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel, plus key position coaches for running, backs, wire receivers, tight ends and the offensive line. Out of those original top five offensive assistants, only the tight ends coach Nate Letton is still around. The rest bounced, some fired, others poached by schools like Michigan State and Notre Dame. Longo got the boot after two rough years, replaced by Jeff Grimes and the position coaches cycled through multiple swaps, leaving the units shaky. After three subpar seasons, defensively, things stabilize more, with inside linebackers coach Tough Borland getting promoted so Tressel can focus solely on coordinating.
