I'm Corey with The Story, and this is your Pulse of the City, Durham News Today. North Carolina Freshman star Caleb Wilson will miss the Tar Heels' first round NCAA tournament game against VCU after suffering two-hand injuries late. In the season, the 19-year-old forward fractured his left hand during a game against Miami and then broke his right thumb in practice while attempting a dunk. Despite the setbacks, he's staying on the bench with the team in Greenville South Carolina. Earlier this week, Wilson earned second-team All-American honors from multiple outlets, making his jersey eligible to hang in the rafters someday. Second UNC Freshman, ever to achieve that, he led the team in points, rebounds, and assists, averaging nearly 20 points per game before getting hurt. Coach Hubert Davis called Wilson as talented off the court as on it, heartbroken. He can't play but thrilled by his recent awards. Teammates credit Wilson's sideline energy and pep talks for sparking a late winning streak, including key victories over rivals. Wilson has kept a
positive outlook, joking about his injuries and drawing inspiration from philosophy and faith to focus on gratitude for small. Things. He says the bench view has taught him new ways to lead and spot opportunities on the floor. Meanwhile, in Greenville, Wilson is fully involved, cheering wildly and building bonds with everyone from stars to walk-ons. The Tar Heels feel his presence fueling their tournament run, even without him playing. Special thanks to our sponsor for supporting this episode. Comfort you can hear. Sound. You can relax into.
