Will Kyle Shanahan ACTUALLY Rest Christian McCaffrey in 2026?

About this episode

Will Christian McCaffrey finally get a reliable backfield partner to lighten his historic workload? Kyle Shanahan and Jed York offer fresh insight from the owners meetings, sparking debates about the San Francisco 49ers’ draft strategy and offseason plans. The conversation unpacks Shanahan’s repeated promises to reduce McCaffrey’s touches, examines the coaching staff’s trust in RB depth like Jordan James and Brian Robinson, and weighs whether a second-round running back or late free agent signing could truly shift the offense.

The episode also covers global expansion, with Australia in focus, and raises questions about player performance, RPO usage, and the impact of offensive line upgrades. Brandon Aiyuk’s uncertain future with the 49ers—should fans hold out hope for reconciliation or prepare for a post-June 1st move? Plus, Jed York’s hands-off ownership philosophy, Shanahan’s long-term commitment, and Brock Purdy’s offseason improvements round out a must-listen for passionate 49ers fans.

More insight on the San Francisco 49ers from head coach Kyle Shanahan and CEO Jed York from the owner's meetings Christian McCaffrey will we get a running mate finally in 2026 on today's Lockdown 49ers You are a Lockdown 49ers your daily San Francisco 49ers podcast part of the Lockdown podcast network your team every day Welcome to Lockdown 49ers Brian Peacock and Eric Crocker. Thanks everybody for tuning in and making us your first listen of the day And thanks for making a locked on the number one sports podcast network. We've got a lot more to get into today We heard from from John Lynch 49ers GM at the owner's meetings yesterday today Kyle Shanahan met with reporters Jed York had a little sidebar with reporters as well So a lot to learn from the 49ers brass and what they think about this offseason and how things might look Going forward more hits on what could have more hints on what could happen in the NFL draft

As well. So crock. Um, this is one Stop me if you've heard this one before right um Kyle Shanahan For probably the third straight off season in fact, I've got some receipts on that on bring up in a second uh said about Christian McCaffrey and Uh a player that had a career high 413 touches and turns 30 years old before training camp starts this year Uh about getting him some help and how much he can carry the ball again in 2026 And Kyle Shanahan had this to say quote I know that I don't want Christian to have to take all that It was amazing that he did and was able to do that The reason it's so hard to get Christian out is because of how much he affects everything in the past game Even when he's not getting the ball But in order for us to be the running team we want to be in order to have Christian be as good as he can be throughout the whole year We've got to get someone to help him Do you believe Kyle Shanahan this time

When he says it because um Dieter curtain buck uh brought up the receipts from Previous years uh and hold on just real quick a crock. I got I got I exist too funny um 2024 49ers Kyle Shanahan hopes to reduce Christian McCaffrey's workload next season that was from June in 2024 uh From July 2025 49ers being careful with superstars workload after two major injuries last season And then it goes on to have even more carries than either one of those two years uh in 2025 So do you believe Kyle Shanahan this time because clearly we've heard this before No, I believe that he believes what he's saying Do I think he'll do what he's saying? Absolutely not Everybody what was it might tie sin or someone has said it right everybody has a plan until they get pushing them out

All right, so he his plan could very well be Hey, the limit is touches. Let's find somebody that can really compliment christian McCaffrey and he can go out there and share the workload And that's his plan But when the game starts and he needs to win a football game We don't know Kyle Shanahan is going to go with who he trusts and who he's comfortable with being out there So for that standpoint, I don't see much changing. I will say I did see a little bit of a difference like I do think they tried with Brian Robinson There were games where he was getting carries, you know Seven carries eight carries and I could like he didn't have that and I felt like that was much different than what we saw the year before But even within that I don't know if the 49ers are just not throwing the ball as much or the 49ers just had way more plays but The christian McCaffrey had the most touches in the entire NFL So so however he's trying to do this. I mean it didn't it didn't work out to where you're going to take some of his workload off

He just touched the ball more regardless of however you try to do it The other part of that too that was slipped in there that that really stood out to me and look I'll believe it when I see it with Kyle Shanahan limiting christian McCaffrey's workload the Part that he that that got me was he said we need to we need to get someone that can do that So that's telling me that Yeah, granted for sure Grindo never Grindo didn't play at all last season Crazy and that Jordan James didn't play until seven carries in the final game And there were seven of the best carries the 49ers had all year My Robinson was like man Not a great use of a six-rounder in my opinion six-rounders aren't high draft picks But man, they'll be very useful right now to add another piece. I think Jordan James or anybody up the street could have handled What Brian Robinson did for the 49ers last year. So is he saying that they're about to gear up and draft a second round running back

Prok or might they hit somebody in free agency Because less yesterday Sounded like there wasn't a lot of money left over from John Lynch talking about guys that might be too expensive in free agency You know if you're gonna tell if you're gonna drop by in the second round Just a running back in general. I draft the guy who you believe will be very impactful and I think if you want to find that guy You can find them anywhere, but if you want to ensure that you're finding the guy that will compliment christian McCaffrey I do think you have to draft them in the center round you are you and I we're not the biggest on drafting running backs High, but second round. I think it's a really good spot Especially later in this second round now 49ers have a ton of needs that I feel like are I only want to say more work because the most important thing should be to keep christian McCaffrey healthy but Draft in the running back late second round Don't think it's the worst thing in the world get somebody as dynamic get someone that can spring off some big runs Get someone that you're even more comfortable with sharing the workload because these third four

And guys that you traded for using the sixth round pick College is a little there's some kind of uneasiness to to um, you know really utilizing those guys I'd be real shame with 49ers drafted a second on running back there There's a couple guys that might be worthy of that pick in this class if there's no other running backs that go between Jordan love and say pick 58 um With the other needs and the thing the thing that it mean he comes to my too when I hear that quote from college I was like let me be better running the football Get better in the offensive line get better up front, right? Uh, I think jordan james deserves that shot at rb2 you got to bring in some competition there As a grando might not make the team at this point. So, you know One of the later picks fourth round pick. Yeah draft the running back and uh maybe bring somebody in off the street and free agency too You got Patrick Taylor as well. That's around for the 49ers. They brought him back So um You do need some depth there But I think jordan james looked plenty

Good in in camp before you got hurt and then in uh in that limited action we saw and you know and seeing the tape from him in college to be You know a backup running back. I think that's just fine How much of an rpo team are the 49ers? Mm-hmm. I do not know They certainly run rpo's, but I don't think they're Necessarily heavy in that regard The the reason why I asked that and and I know I can vividly see certain plays Even going back to when jimmy grapple was playing, but That helps lightning box a little bit You know if you have a ramp has option and the box is loaded and you see guys coming down Hey, we're gonna throw To where it avoided area where that linebacker just left and that's gonna keep backers from triggering as fast And that allows you to have more favorable numbers in the run game Like being able to run the balls all about numbers If I have favorable numbers, I hand it off if I don't have favorable numbers. I throw it

It can be that simple now again. I know people want to just establish a run game because they believe they're supposed to But ultimately the main goal should be get the ball in your playmakers hands in space as many times as possible That like that should be the goal And I don't think it has to be just running the ball because people think that you want to develop some kind of mindset What's gonna give me a favorable Opportunity on this play and I think really the 49ers kind of lean a little bit more into the rpo game Maybe it's more difficult than that and they feel level, but hey those linebackers come down We're gonna throw in that voided area now. I've seen the 49ers do it But maybe just not enough That that will lighten the box though If you're worried about continuing to run and there's just a lot of bodies here I'm seeing I don't know if this is accurate Think sumer sports Has the 49ers as 14 rpo plays last year feels a little low, but you know like one a game Yeah, that's see that that number needs to be up again

I want to make sure that the health of my guys are good at the running back position if I want to continue to You know Make linebackers play honest. Hey, you coming down quick. We're throwing right where you're leaving If you're not coming down quick, hey, we're handing it off and now we have favorable numbers I'm also coming from the defense side of all and I know I do office coordinating now But I do believe that defensive guys simplify the game way more if I got numbers in the run game throw it Or I mean favorable numbers in the run game then I run it if I don't then I throw it It really could be that simple, but deep as guys we think about it. If your guys playing eight yards off I'm gonna throw a hitch. I don't care what my concept is Throw a hitch a okay receiver make your guy miss you or we pick up at five six yards and that's an extended run play I'm getting the information right now the the the sumer brain is thinking You give me that a real statistics on the RPOs

But yeah, I think the other part with this too is I think a lot of people that do do a little bit more RPOs at times have more of a dropback passing game Uh, and I think that's where the 49ers Traditionally, it just haven't had the the best Offense from that standpoint But because the dropback pass game now you're doing a little bit more spread stuff spreading teams out a little bit And I'm looking at that box and I'm counting I can hand it off I could throw it Get guys out on the edge The 49ers are a little bit more 21 personnel. So you kind of limit it a little bit more with how you do RPOs like me I can tag an RPO to every single run that I do but we're running a lot of You know 10 or 11 personnel So I can run you know inside zone or outside zone to the right and every single time not every time But a lot of time you'll see my my slot receiver bubble So if I if I see that nickel my quarterback knows I'm looking if that bubble if that nickel moves Then we have a second level RPO on I'm throwing that bubble right now to my slot receiver

If it if we're maybe wanting to throw us a slant route and he's reading that backer that backer comes down We're throwing that slant And we can tag that on every single one of our run plays And it's on my quarterback to just count the box. Hey that guy stay out there and I'm handing it off We're favorable on the run game I'm seeing somewhere between 8 and 14 RPO plays all season for the 49ers that is probably near the bottom of the NFL I'd like to get that number up Running back does not equal running game It's the crux of the whole Why ID value running backs in the NFL crop Offer to blind scheme that's the running game Then you plug in Raheem most so we can hit that hole Well, they'll tell you though that cow shanley hand when it comes to run game design is Rebest right So there's no excuse you have christian McCaffrey you have Kyle shanley hand didn't have a bad offensive line

They might maybe don't have the powerhouse offensive line that they've had in some years But they were still at least league average on the offensive line for the most part And they were legit bad run of the football. I'd never seen a christian or a The christian McCaffrey, but I've never seen a Kyle shanley hand offense no matter who the running back was have a bad running game And that's what the 49ers had last year Yeah Next crock. Let's talk Australia Let's talk Jed york talking about brain and I you talking about Kyle and John and how long they might be around for the San Francisco 49ers next Did he's episode of Lockdown 49ers brought to you by Robin Hood What if sports were traded like markets now you can put your sports IQ to work in real time with Robin Hood prediction markets It's not you against the house It's you participating in a live market you can buy or sell your positions live all game long Use your sports knowledge in the moments that matter Robin Hood prediction markets changes the game It's people moving the action. So when momentum shifts you can move with it

I always knew the game right never had a dynamic way to apply that knowledge now I can actually take part live in a market powered by people you're no longer just a spectator play by play You decide trade every play with Robin Hood now available across the US Download the Robin Hood app now to begin futures and cleared swaps trading involve significant risk and is not appropriate for everyone Event contracts are offered by Robin Hood derivatives LLC a register futures commission merchants and swap firm How's your name and not a fan going all the way to Australia To to play a football game crock and he brought up something about how it's a 19-hour travel day and it becomes Back to the future because like you lose a day on the trip and then you you gain a gay day back and so Basically, he said on the on the trip to open the season. He said I don't see any pro It's cool for the league to play globally. I think that's awesome But as far as the team doing it. No, there's not much benefit to it. Sometimes it's nice to get a by-week after

But doesn't happen in week one So there you go. They get a mini by a couple extra days, which is going to be all jet lag for the most part on a trip like that So kalshanian not a fun play not a not a fan of playing in Australia It's funny because jed york was asked about it, too And he's like, huh? You want to grow the game locally a globally? You got to play games globally essentially so yeah Jed york likes it a lot more than kalshanian and clearly Well, jed york He's thinking about the money aspect of it, too. Like it will mind My you know, there's the vision visual aspect of my team is growing right more uniform Cells how many people out there are gonna buy a bunch of jerseys specifically for that game right? You're gonna have a whole country or Two continent right Australia is a continent. He's both. Yeah Yeah, country continent right so they're gonna be a lot of people Been a while since I took geography, so don't don't kill me in the comments There's gonna be a lot of people That are like hey, we got to get right for the I know for me. I'm going through a 49-minute game a lot of times

I got my little Shared on right now. Hall of Fame Patrick Willis shirt, but I'm always trying to get you know a little news a little Some 49 or something a little hat or something like that. Can you imagine just an entire Continent or country like hell. Yeah, like let's get a bunch of 49 or stuff. I can see that happening Yeah, and I think there's already I think The 49ers are already Australia's team And a lot of 49ers fans in Mexico too. So playing Australia playing Mexico City like those are big markets And there's a lot of fans already there and those are home games already So I mean I think it's big for you know the product and in the The marketing that is the 49ers How are the 49ers like big in other places like that? It doesn't go back to Jerry Rice Joe Montana Steve Young. I mean What we're old now, right? You know you're in your 40s. I'm approaching them. Yeah Like those days are so far removed and there's kind of like a bunch of new kids and new fans like what are their favorite teams?

Uh, I think I can't say cheap like I could see like just a bunch of cheap We're seeing that now right with a bunch of Like younger generation like warrior fans because it's just grown up watching Steph Curry In my son turned on me. He was a liquor fan and He had Steph Curry jersey and he's still a curry fan Now he's 18 and he kind of like We suck and I'm like, yeah, you guys suck. I can't wait to beat you guys, but it's sweet Right, so we're always having those back and forth But it's like you used to be a liquor fan come on home But I wonder if that's what's going on in Australia where are there like Kind of shift him to like maybe a bunch of Kansas City chief fans. Yeah Right now if there was a there's a lot of my homes jerseys in the stance and it's getting far I mean, I was a child you were a child the last time the 49ers won a Super Bowl and I was really young when the 49ers We're doing dynastic things in the 1980s. So That's uh, it's been a long time and uh, and I think there's a there's a there's a lot of growth

And so I think that that that gets kind of I think you know a lot of people in a lot of countries probably weren't a fan of any team And they started becoming 49ers fans in the 80s and 90s and that kind of stuck and so now it starts to be a generational thing But a lot of kids or a lot of parents might be losing grips on their kids and so You yeah, you need to strengthen that I think if you're the 49ers So love the trip from that aspect, you know the travel obviously not great for the players I'm trying to look at what time it currently isn't Australia. It's 104 p.m. Oh, that's a little wait Oh, it's the next day Yeah, that's yeah, so it's time traveling Yeah, yeah, they really are time traveling I mean because they're oh there's literally six hours I don't want to say they're they're a whole day ahead of us, but six hours kind of like behind us currently Right now yeah, and I was just thinking if the 49ers play you know a primetime game what time is it there? And yeah, that's going to be it's 5 30 kickoff

Yes, yeah, that's a little weird That's a little bit of a time That's about 11 a.m. Kickoff Yeah, so it's going to be the Thursday September 10th game So 5 30 p.m. local here Pacific time start so 5 30 p.m. Thursday locally But the game in Australia will be happening Friday morning at 10 35 a.m. So it'll be the next day in Australia It'll be Friday in Australia, but for us will we watch it on Thursday night 10 30 a.m. Playing a football game trying to get those juices flowing that's A little deal. I mean essentially that's what happens when the 49ers travel east or central for you know Yeah, it is for a time anyway for those east coast games, but it's not 10 a.m. There So that there's still a difference when you know, if you do kind of someone get accustomed to Being out there for a few days and you know, you're waking up And it's all right. I gotta get ready It ain't 10 it's it's

Or it is 10 dude. Yeah, that's weird. I'm It is 10 30 there. It's us kickoff And guys are out there jogging around a couple hours before the game, right? So like usually here When they're playing at 10 a.m. Pacific time. They're playing Noon or one o'clock somewhere else, right? But this game you're actually playing at 10 a.m Yeah, the time where you are and so that means they'll be doing pregame warms of it warm up at 8 a.m. 8 something All right Yeah, do you try to trick your body in and like kind of almost train yourself to Go to sleep at a certain time wake up at a certain time so that it's more of your actual routine in California Like is that possible? You got to go early, but then it would be weird because it'd be bizarro Where you're sleeping in daylight and you're up when it's dark if you're trying to keep the Pacific time going, you know That's hard to do too I don't know Let us know anybody's done travel like that that it had to do something in a timed event What was that like we got in the x players that have played overseas? Well, you need some energy

You need some energy chooses gotta be flowing like my mental has to be ready. It's like 10 a.m That's tough I'm pumped for I know a lot of folks are pumped and traveling to Australia and a lot of folks that are there All around not just in Melbourne, but all over the country the continent In Australia will be we'll be pumped in and then get into that game We're watching wherever they are and it's gonna be sold out 100,000 a huge cricket with a Melbourne cricket rounds I think it's called 110,000 seats somewhat that whoo You're gonna be fun Next let's hear from jed york on the San Francisco 49ers and how long John and Kyle Might be in charge of his football I do want to remind everybody to check out the every day or club Don't forget to check out the every day or club for ad free episodes and access to a group chat with me and other Locked-on hosts and especially other listeners of this show just tap the link in the show notes or go to locked on 49ers.supercast.com

Okay, Crockett Quick note on Kyle Shanahan and Brock Pertie This is a really cool one. I think because apparently this happens every year And I don't remember hearing this exact story of how Kyle Shanahan works with his quarterbacks But Kyle Shanahan says he gives Brock Pertie a five item to do list in the offseason before camp And starts with video reviews with pretty hard critiques and soft compliments And he said quote Brock's fun that way He's humble and never takes it personally and usually fixes it by training camp So I'm wonder what those five things are that Kyle Shanahan has Brock Pertie working on this offseason and And has him ready for camp to to improve going into 2026. That's fascinating stuff there. Um, and I I could see what you what what do you think like what what's one thing when you You you believe Kyle told him you have to get better At this this offseason, but it's something that he can

Work on in the offseason. Yeah, you can say like oh, you gotta take care of all better. Well, how do I work on that in the offseason right I want you to show up and sling it like Josh Allen I want to see that in August, right? Yeah, yeah, you can't do that. I don't know Probably taking care of the football, but yeah, how does he do that? It's probably And again, that's kind of a game reps thing, right Um, maybe footwork did he get sloppy with footwork what you know when those some of those throws where he kind of just misses high over the middle of the field It's gonna be nice to have Mike Evans by the way running those dig routes on some of those Might be able to haul some of those in like footwork Did he you know it was it was there a um You know Going through the reads wrong or something, you know like I don't know with Brock Pertie I think the mental side of thing he's already pretty far ahead of a lot of quarterbacks. That's where he wins, right? Anticipation seeing it getting the ball out on time. Maybe there's times when he kind of gets a little bit to

um Back yard with the way he plays and holds on to the ball a little bit too long. That might be a big one I think turnovers it's it's just as much of um A job for the receivers as well as much as it is for the quarterbacks and everybody sees the quarterback throw the pick But if you watch shows like you know quarterback Where you know cut cousins is expecting to receive it to be at a certain spot and if you're not there He could just look like the wildest interception and I think we've seen some of those things from You know Jimmy Ruppo. I think we've seen it from Brock Pertie I remember Jimmy G when he threw that pick six against him Minnesota Vikings And you know, it's like oh kidric born, you know, he ran the wrong route was you know Jimmy's throwing to a spot You got to be in that spot. You leave that spot. I'm expecting to be there And I'm telling timing and rhythm and I know it's there and all of a sudden I see a Defender going the opposite way with the ball like bro. That's on the receiver So some of it has to be with them make sure that they're on the same page mentally. I do think

Footwork, that's probably a big Point of emphasis probably every offseason for quarterbacks making sure that you're tying your feet to your eyes to your throw Uh, and that's a really big one. I noticed it sometimes when I watch a quarterback step one way You know really used to do it and It hurt his game, but then sometimes when you're super talented You can kind of get away with it at times, but Cam Newton Cam Newton would do something that you're just not supposed to be able to do He would step all the way to his left and be opened up like this and throw a 70-yard bomb to the right deep deep barter field and I'm just like you're not supposed to do that If you're a rock party, you probably can't do that All right, we've got to limit that those type of things we've got to continue to make sure that we work on Footwork aspect of the time your feet to your eyes to throw I'm working on that at the seven-year-old level coaching my son's little league team I'll see these kids just throw just wing a ball way offline and like

Young man You got to step towards your target, right and follow through to keep everything going towards the target And they're like I did and like no you didn't watch I'm gonna kill it and their legs are going way over there and they're trying to throw this way And where's the ball go right where they're stepping every single time. Yeah, I got Uh, Tom Brady. I learned that from Tom Brady years ago. I just he said something I'm like Not just never forgot it so then now when I get into coaching the offense stuff like that I'm always telling my quarter. I say step two follow through step two follow through Uh, the little points of emphasis I get from my guy Greg Pennelli you have four Four points that you want facing the throw so if if I want to throw to the right I need to finish with my four points facing the target If I don't have that rotation there there could be something off and this is an error where you see like the off platform throws We're guys are kind of throwing the ball and maybe I don't have four points facing the target and then you can see some inaccuracies in it So that's kind of an elementary version of it that at least I can understand

Uh, but those are definitely things for quarterbacks to continue to work on even if you're working on it from different platforms that you're throwing from Almost like golf, right? I think golf is similar like that, right? Yes. I mean after you hit it You got your you got all four points shoulders Hips facing where you where you're hitting the ball. Yeah, it's It's frustrating for me because I came from a baseball background and I was never a pitcher A golf swing is much more like a throw than it is like hitting a baseball And and so uh, I'm not surprised Pennelli Greg Pennelli is a good golfer too, right? Yeah, good golfer. You live mechanics and he's got that that throw a quarterbacks are always good kickers are always good Uh, pitchers are always really good golfers, right? When they're post-career and some of the other guys like the more athletic position sometimes they struggle more because it's there's something unathletic about a a golf swing. It's really strange It's more much more like a throw. You somehow just has it down here. I mean he can hit a golf walk. I feel like just as good as he can Shoot the three point shot. I heard Steph talking about it too, and he's an unbelievable golfer

But you know, his dad was an NBA player and so his dad Del Curry would drop him off of the golf course when he's a kid like Stessman playing golf for a long time and so he would just You know, although all day long as a kid so he's like he grew up in that country club life, you know, which is a lot of great golfers did Um, yeah Jed New York and Kyle Shanahan both spoke on Brandon, I you Kyle Was very short and basically said I know we're in no rush to do that talking about Uh, that the 49ers do hope they can get something in return for Brandon, I you said he's not sure when that might take place So expect Brandon, I you'd either be traded or if they can't get a trade And get anything for him and which would be a seventh round pick at this point or something You know, maybe a conditional pick in 2027 for a team that's that's a little bit unsure about where Brandon, I you kids Um, or he'll be cut after June 1st So, you know, maybe a team that doesn't draft a guy that and hope if they were going to get a ride receiver comes call him to the 49ers and they get a little something I wouldn't expect much and I just think the 49ers don't really want to do Brandon, I you getting favors anyway and don't wait until June 1st

To do something with him Jed York said that BA is a very talented guy would love to bring him back into the fold and if not, I think he's a valuable asset Other people would want. I think anything's possible Said guys like Mike Evans veteran Christian Kirk or legit veteran people that's a room that can absorb somebody This had a tough go with our franchise for the last year or so and so I I don't know about bringing that brand I you back he's not coming back to play for the 49ers But I think if you're the 49ers you have to play that charade if you think you're gonna try to convince teams that you that you would trade him that maybe he could potentially be around But I don't see that happen at all and by the way Jed York is not all that involved with the football team crop Know that the Niners sign Christian Kirk Did you see that? I was in London with the saw doing soccer stuff. I'm you know, I'm in New York sometimes I'm in Ohio with the DeBardo family business that he's also CEO and he's like Why are people talking about Christian Kirk? He's like, oh cool. We sign Christian Kirk

So that's how involved jay york is day to day he's finding out with us I would say I like his approach on the brand and I you think I read on comments the 49er fan base Hey don't get him gone. They want nothing to do with me But I do think the right thing to say Is really opposite of what couch in the handset and exactly what jay york said hey talent the player really like him You didn't saw what the 49ers they were Jimmy Crop close. He might as well just leave that door cracked even if it's just a little bit There's always a chance hit okay If brother now you just randomly gets his mind right And all of a sudden he's just all in Somehow he gains their trust back. He goes to the you know, he's partly cobbled click and goes and hangs out with him Something he's never done. He's like look I'm sorry. I was idiotic. I apologize. I love you guys I'm ready to come back and work extremely hard Right, I think if you remove that kind of just stubbornness you'd like me

We did us with good times All right, be like come on Because you're still under contract and they would be better with a town would be a better football I just talked about the receiver I think before we got on and I was like man. Well, I mean the 49ers have you know, you got Mike Evans You got Christian Kirk you got ricky pier saw you know George Kittle eventually he'll come back I don't know before I was jacked in the receiver first round like the 49er fan base once But if you were like hey you got Mike Evans ricky pier saw Christian Kirk and Brandon are you That's that ain't bad And then again a lot of making up to do but you know Now I've been married. I'm going on 11 years this year And I've never had to do like Marriage counseling or anything But there are people that have really bad things going on in their marriages And they go to marriage counseling and they fix it Something's I feel like I look at right now like right never

There's over fine. It's something like that happens But there's other people that they figure it out and they they work through it like there are ways And they live happily ever after so I don't see that happening, but I think college in a hand he could be a little you know college in a handy And he's just peeking out of his feelings and he I'm over it. I don't know what have I'm over it But I bet they can have a conversation in college Well, you know, I'm gonna be hard on you in front of people, but let's do it You'd have to start with some Joe York is leaving that door open Yeah Or cracked We'll see we'll see if there's any communication that happens ever from the iUX camp and in the San Francisco 49ers I have my doubts there As for Kyle Shanahan continue to be head coach to the 49ers. He was asked about his future He's still got a few years left on his contract. He said I love coaching even though I've looked like I've aged 10 years because Well, I have aged 10 years because it's been 10 years But I still feel good my family still loves it I think they would kill me if I was home a lot more

So we got a good balance and I love being here with the Niners and then jed york was asked the same question He said basically I want Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to be here as long as they want to be here He's like I don't see Kyle Shanahan wanting to go do TV or anything like that. I think that would drive him crazy And so uh jed york's feel I think jed york feels like He's the Niners are in good hands and that he can go travel to Ohio and London during free agency and come back and learn what the team did For him right and not have to hold anybody's hand and and and be that involved in the day-to-day It's truly John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan and Prague and in that group. They're they're running the 49ers When he likes it that way, so I don't think if anything would change would be like Maybe John Lynch decides he wants to go do TV or maybe John Lynch gets moved up to a Instead of GM. He becomes president of football operations And then they have another guy jump in a bgm, which really wouldn't be all that different just be title changes Yeah There you go

49ers drafting Of running back now instead of a wide receiver. So there you go. We learned that information on this on this Millen got killed for not mocking a receiver to the 49ers the family is like he's an idiot But now like yeah, they only got a receiver and then we'd be nice to just see them draft receive I just talked about all that last uh on the last episode about Storm resources at the receiver position. So you kind of have like this cycle of not having to pay a guy ton of money but I Didn't mind the the draft he went off to tackle first round drafted at edge in the second round got the cornerback naming's that you really like Uh in in in the fourth round and drafted a center and you know a position where I feel like the final definitely could Really utilize there was some some good things in that in that draft Let's talk about it. Let's talk about Matt Miller seven round mock draft Let's talk with week on tomorrow's winky wednesday episode About what to believe and what not to believe about what we heard this week at the illiter meetings for the san francisco
