Wildfires Rage in Wales, Threatening Historic Dams

0:00On April 29th, firefighters are now in their fourth day battling wildfires, ripping through the stunning Ellen Valley in mid-wales. Crews from mid and west-wales fire and rescue have been on the scene since Sunday, hitting hot spots around Clairwen Reservoir and Tafy Pools, a helicopter's dropping water on the riskiest spots to contain the blaze. National Trust's Seymour who shut down the nearby half of the state to keep folks safe, and they're telling everyone to stay away from the area. British Shepherd Glinder Jones, who's worked these lands for 26 years, called it straight up frightening. He's worried about his livestock and farms spanning 10,000 to 12,000 acres, with no clue on the money hit till the smoke clears. Residents got the word to seal windows and doors against thick smoke. This 70 square mile gym packs four historic dams. Craig Gash, Gary Gdes, Doe, Penn Eye Garrick, and Kabon Kosh built over 120 years ago too. Pipe clean water to Birmingham and Wales.

1:01Dry weather's cranked up the fire risk big time, per natural resources Wales, with no rain till Friday. Meanwhile, another wildfire is flaring on Cowbridge Common in the veil of Glamorgan. Rangers and crews are locked in, monitoring close and hitting it with more water drops to tame the flames before they spread further.
