Wife's Suicide Trial Reveals Abuse Allegations

His wife, Taren Baird, to suicide through years of abuse. Baird, who was 34, took her own life by hanging at their home in Swindon-Wiltshire on November 28th, 2017. Prosecutors say, Tribus subjected her to controlling behavior, manipulation, and sexual violence, beating to charges of manslaughter, coercive control, and two counts of rape. Baird's childhood friend, Karina Silva, told jurors she repeatedly offered her home as a safe haven after Baird confided in beatings and rapes by her husband. Despite the pleas, Baird always turned down the chance to leave. Silva described Tribus as strange and said she truly feared for her friend's life at times. Silva painted a picture of a troubled marriage where Tribus seemed loving on the surface but hit a darker side, including one strangling Baird with a belt during an assault.

Under cross-examination, Defense Lawyers questioned why Silva didn't report more details to police earlier, like the rape claims or bruises since. Baird sometimes retracted her stories. Silva explained she stuck to verify facts and wasn't sure if it was her place to intervene physically. She also clarified past statements about a belt in their relationship, saying she might have misremembered the wording.
