Why You Shouldn't Make Excuses - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Are you in a new relationship? Yay, you! Make yourself a promise – you will not make excuses for misbehavior from them.
What kind of misbehavior?
- You give them a gift and they point out what’s wrong with it. Nope – no gratitude + no compassion = no excuses.
- They make plans with their friends weeks ahead of time and can’t make plans with you for this weekend. Nope – not a priority is what we call a “clue” so no excuses.
- They expect you to socialize with their friends yet they won’t socialize with yours. Nope – ignoring your life outside of theirs is what we call a “red flag” so no excuses.
I’m not saying you need to break off the relationship, I’m just asking – well, ok, begging – you to keep your eyes as open as your heart is. You deserve their focus, respect, and to be their priority.
Maybe they can grow into those expectations – don’t lower your expectations to hold on to someone who doesn’t deserve you.
