Why You Need to Stop Caring - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Can you not care? When someone is snarky, can you not care? When someone gossips about you, can you not care? When someone abuses your good nature, can you not care?
Most people can’t, but that’s just because they haven’t practiced.
It’s counter to human nature to not care about the opinions of those who are closest to us – we are a tribe of community-builders. Some people treat you poorly from time to time, though, right? When it’s someone you have no choice but to deal with, practice not caring. Play a mental game about why they’re unkind or rude or even downright mean to you. Make up a story and make yourself believe it.
When you can create a way to be immune to their behavior, you are taking care of your own mental wellbeing, and isn’t that more important than anything?
