Why Variety Feeds Friendship - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast

About this episode

Quick – think about the kind of people you gravitate towards – are they the life of the party or the quiet observers?

Take your best friend – not a romantic partner, a friend. When you’re with them, who does more talking – you or your friend? Who is the person that plans where you’ll go and what you’ll do? Who is the one most likely to be noticed by the others around you?

I’m a former major market radio personality, a professional speaker, and someone who creates online courses filled with videos of me – would it surprise you to learn that I’m usually the quietest person in a non-work gathering? There’s no right or wrong about whether you’re the most outgoing or the least outgoing person in your circle of friends. The wonderful thing about the dynamics of friendships is that it’s the variety that keeps things interesting.

Occasionally the differences can spark disagreements, and that’s OK. Both of you will learn and grow from those and your friendship will be stronger. Be who you are – there’s no need for you to try to be like your friends. The friendship will be stronger when you’re you, not a cartoon version of someone else.
