Why Negativity is Actually Good - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
With all the emphasis on positivity, some people might get the opinion that negative emotions are bad.
- Negative emotions are normal.
- Negative emotions are human.
- Negative emotions are real.
You just don’t want to spend your whole life feeling them, right?
Things happen and we feel what we feel because of heredity, social conditioning, and societal expectations. When something hurts, it’s OK to cry, whether it’s crying over a broken bone or a broken heart.
Just as the physical pain eases, so will the emotional pain…when we let it.
If you keep brooding over the event, keep what-if-ing and why-me-ing, then you’re choosing the negative emotions over the easing of the pain. In the aftermath of a painful chapter in your life, you will hurt and you will heal. You have a choice about how long it takes to get to the healing part.
Just as no one can tell you not to feel the heartbreak, don’t let anyone tell you how long that heartbreak has to last. You decide how long you want to live in it, and when you’re ready, move out and into a beautiful new chapter in your life.
