Why Hurt People Hurt People - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
About this episode
Maybe you’ve heard the saying, “hurt people hurt people.” It’s only the people who are unhappy who are mean to others. People who bully are unhappy. People who are manipulative are unhappy. People who are suspicious are unhappy.
When a person lashes out at you, they learned that behavior from someone, probably during their childhood. When someone manipulates situations with Machiavellian skill, someone modeled that behavior for them.
People show you the coping skills they learned as a child and whether or not they’ve learned and grown since then. Hurt people sometimes can’t break those early patterns and so they hurt people. You can’t please them because you can’t fix them.
Don’t take their actions towards you personally.
