Why Do Indians Pay the Highest Taxes But Get the Worst Roads.

About this episode

Why do Indians pay the highest taxes but get the worst roads? 🛣️ Where does all the tax money go?

Every time you fill your tank, more than half of what you pay is tax.

India collects over ₹5 lakh crore every year from fuel alone. 💸

Yet the ground reality:

✔ 3,000+ deaths every year linked to potholes 💀

✔ Around 40% of roads are not all weather 🌧

✔ One monsoon and freshly built roads disappear

✔ No clear public tracking of where every rupee goes 📊

This is not about blaming the country. 🇮🇳

This is about respecting the taxpayer.

Countries like Japan 🇯🇵 and Germany 🇩🇪 collect fuel taxes too.

They deliver smooth highways, reliable public transport, and transparent systems.

If we are paying global level taxes, we deserve global level infrastructure.

What needs to change:

✔ Public online audit of road and fuel tax funds

✔ Strict blacklisting of contractors whose roads fail early

✔ Citizen reporting and rating system for road quality

You are not a poor country.

You are a taxpayer funding a leaking system.

You’ve already paid for better roads. 🛣

Comment TAX if you believe accountability is patriotic. 🇮🇳
