Story Transcript:
En: In Lahemaa National Park, trees towered and the peace of the marshlands was reflected.
Et: Oli Jaanipäev.
En: It was Jaanipäev.
En: The air smelled of wildflowers and the sky remained bright at summer midnight.
En: Arvo, together with friends Kaja and Maret, and many other guides gathered around the sturdy bonfire that had just been lit.
En: He always had a strong desire to hike and spend time in the wilderness.
En: However, lately, he noticed that his health didn't always withstand the adventures.
En: Arvo had now driven to Lahemaa to celebrate Jaanipäev with his friends, secretly worried about whether his body could handle the night.
Et: Paraad algas.
En: The parade began.
Et: Arvo kõndis üraskihõlmade seas, nautides lehtede vahelt pilku piiluvat päikest.
En: Arvo walked among the pine trees, enjoying the sun peeking through the leaves.
En: A true picture of beauty, but suddenly he felt his nose start to tickle and his throat begin to swell.
En: It was as if someone had dumped a bucket of hay needles over his head.
En: “Arvo, is everything okay?” Kaja inquired, seeing how Arvo was sneezing incessantly and itching.
En: “Yes, yes, everything is fine,” Arvo responded insistently, trying to hide the extent of his symptoms from his friends.
En: He didn't want anything to disturb all the joy and the evening's bonfire pleasure.
En: Maret, who had medical training, was nonetheless observant.
En: “Arvo, you look a bit... concerning,” she noted and moved closer in the moonlight to examine him.
En: Soon, a serious realization dawned on Arvo: if he didn't do something immediately, this evening could mean more than just an ordinary allergic reaction.
Et: Lõkke ümberdi toredus ruumis.
En: Around the bonfire, the merriment continued.
Et: Naeru, laule, ajalugu.
En: Laughter, songs, history.
Et: Kuid Arvol oli järjest raskem hingata.
En: But it became increasingly difficult for Arvo to breathe.
En: Just before something truly terrible could happen, he gathered the courage and said, "Maret, I need help."
Et: Maret ei kahelnud hetkegi.
En: Maret didn't hesitate for a moment.
En: She sat Arvo down, gave him allergy medication from the first-aid kit, and stayed by his side until Arvo's condition improved.
En: She found words of encouragement that always brought Arvo comfort, and he saw how a friend's support was stronger than any medicine.
Et: Peagi Arvo tundis, kuidas hingus hakkas tagasi tulema ja kannikesesulekesed metsas hakkasid taas tuttaval kombel lehvima.
En: Soon Arvo felt his breath returning and the woodpeckers in the forest began to flutter in a familiar way again.
Et: Ta naeratas.
En: He smiled.
Et: „Maret, aitäh,“ ütles Arvo südamest, „saan nüüd uuesti hingata.“ Õhtu muutis tooni.
En: “Maret, thank you,” said Arvo from the heart, “I can breathe again now.” The tone of the evening changed.
En: The bonfire still burned fiercely, but now not only among the ice and sand pumpkins, but also with a different feeling for Arvo.
En: He had learned that asking for help was not a sign of weakness, but of strength.
En: Together with Maret, they returned to the bonfire to once again find the key to the wind and fire's song.
En: Jaanipäev ended, but the lesson from that evening stayed with Arvo: nature needs its stories not to be left alone, even if they are sometimes vulnerable.
Et: Sõprade toetus tegi looduse imed veelgi väärtuslikumaks.
En: The support of friends made the wonders of nature even more valuable.
