What the NFL Draft taught us about Browns GM Andrew Berry

The Browns played a prominent role in ESPN’s “The Pick is In,” an inside look at the draft. Clips circulated on social media of GM Andrew Berry negotiating and ultimately turning down a trade with the Cowboys. On Tuesday’s Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe talked about what they learned from seeing Berry work and his decision to pass on a deal that would have netted him picks 12 and 20 in exchange for nine and 24. They talk about why it made sense for Berry to turn down the deal and how it showed his ability to both acquire draft capital but also know when it’s the right time to pick a player. They also try to figure out why Berry has had so much more success drafting the last two years and if there’s a tangible reason for what appears to be better draft classes than we’ve seen in previous drafts.
