2:04Fans media, even better sometimes get enamored with quarterbacks and with wide receivers. And that sort of thing in the off season. Jensen, I look for corners. I look for linemen. Those are the type of things that I go, oh, that might change the complexion of this football team. How about this deal? Four draft picks that the Rams are sending to the Chiefs, including one of their number ones this year to get two-time pro baller, Trent McDuffee is going to be going over to the Rams. And when the new league year opens up, he will be getting a long-term extension to stay with less need and Sean McVey. You made a great point. I thought now in number one here, which is this signals to you that we're pushing chips in for Matthew Stafford and company here to try to get this done on both sides of the ball. Is that your take here and your read when you get a galley, Trent McDuffee? Absolutely. And remember, the Rams by virtue of getting their highest first-run pick from the Atlanta Falcons, they still pick at 13th overall.

3:06So they had the ability in the back end of the first round to be able to swing this and really sweeten the pot with the extra picks later on. So I win, win, at least on paper. The chiefs now will pick at number nine overall and number 29. So an impact corner that is going to address, what we believe was a significant issue. Remember the matchups with Seattle and with San Francisco? It left a little bit to be desired there. And thank God the Rams offense could keep pace and do what they do to stay in those games. But I think well worth the spend, less need, very well known for saying blank those picks. We're here to win, we're here to win the hell. And that's how the Rams are currently constructed with these last couple of seasons of Matthew Stafford. I'll make a couple points here quickly. One, the last time they did this for a star corner kind of in his prime was Jalen Ramsey when they got him to go to LA at a Jacksonville. And they won a Super Bowl not short thereafter

4:06with Jalen Ramsey. The other point is the Rams are the betting favorite and kind of sizable now to win next year. The Super Bowl at plus 750 Seattle to go back to back is nine to one. That's a dollar 50 difference in the marketplace. And then the bills come in at double digits at 10 to one. So think about that. Right now in the NFC, the Rams are the far and away, at least favorite to come out there and win the Super Bowl over the AFC next representative. We'd be two and a half point price difference between the Rams and the bills. And yes, the Seahawks are right there. This shows you the less need. Sean McVeigh to your point, Jensen. That window is open right now. And I think that Trent McDuffy move. I really like that. Certainly in the short term here for the Rams going forward. Short term for the Patriots will be interesting because maybe they overachieved big time to get the Super Bowl. I mean, they got to the Super Bowl in year number two for Drake Meg, year number one for Mike Vrable. But they're not gonna have stuff on digs any longer. And this was a team decision. They let him know that once the calendar opens up,

5:06you will not be back on this roster here. Gonna be released officially. There are some off the field issues with step on digs. If you want to dig into that, I'm sure to some degree that had to play a part in this decision because he felt like for a long time, a really good safety blanket there for Drake May. And then at the end of the year, when the allegations came out and things started to spin out of control a little bit, he almost really kind of took a side seat, if you will. And I think that the writing was on the wall and step digs would not be going back to New England. Agreed. And again, for the Patriots side, they maximize the production out of him. Maybe we think about just a year ago at this point, when you're looking at the overall wide receiver room for Drake May, it left a lot to be desired. Step on digs, stepping up in kind. And I think mutually beneficial for getting them to the Super Bowl. A couple ideas for you and interested your thoughts on it. Potential landing spots, first of all, regardless of what happens off the field and he can deal with that. I don't envision it's going to be something that detours teams in kind so much so they're like,

6:09oh, we can't have him here. How about the Ravens and the Steelers, thinking of wide receiver rooms that could really use. Again, he doesn't have to be a number one option. He won't even probably be a number two option at least in Pittsburgh. But thinking of what he could do as a veteran on both those offenses might be in treaking destinations, your thoughts. That's gonna be, it's a tough one. And I take a sigh there when I think about everything else that comes with step on digs these days. It would make it from a purely football perspective. I think it makes a lot of sense for the Ravens. That would seem to make a lot of sense. It kind of gets some veterans there with Glamar that seems like it's worked in the past, not to the ultimate success they want there in Trump City. I gotta be honest with you, Jensen, until some of the off the field stuff gets cleared up, I'm not sure that I'd be willing to make an investment on a one year deal with a guy like step digs right now. So I think I'd be steering clear until we figure out the legalities here with step on digs going forward, by the way, they've dipped in the marketplace here 16 to one next year

7:11to win the Super Bowl. So way down that board for a team that was knocking on the door last year with one game to play the last game to play in the regular season. Okay, C's hoping to play the last game of the regular season in the second season again this year and go back to back as reigning defendings in the NBA. Would they see the next somewhere down the road? Thought we might see that last year we didn't. Well, they go to MSG and they get a three point win. You at the under, not really in doubt, unless it went over time. So that did not happen, which is good news. But again, kind of that defensive strategy here that okay, C can really kind of snuff out your offense when need be. I guess they're gonna rely on that again in the second season here, Jensen. And I think we always talk about SGA and the offense here, but they can play defense when they really need to. Yeah, again, this is a great game and watched all the way to the end here. Nick's credit words too, a massive comeback. Got it to even at one point. And then the thunder able to execute. Chet Ongren from the, we had five or six threes in the first half matching a career high

8:13and he had all kinds of opportunities in the second half too. I look at okay, C still 15 and 15 as a road favorite. Just thinking of scheduling spots and opportunities to make some money. That has been a team that can kind of be wishy washy. But hey, when the nicks are at home, they have been a force to be reckoned with, a slip up here, but still a team that when they're at MSG, gonna be very profitable here down the stretch. So some big results in college basketball last night. And a couple of that do stick out, Purdue gets a win which they desperately needed, not a cover at Northwestern yesterday, Arkansas. Absolutely, the blows the doors off Texas by 20 and Houston gets a win against Baylor. Houston's a team I want to ask you about here because I mentioned it earlier in the program with Hoops Peterson. Duke right now is minus $170 to make the final four. Michigan is minus $170 to make the final four. Arizona is minus money at minus $120. Everybody else then for it is a plus money plus $1.55. Houston has dipped to two to one to make the final four.

9:17So it shows you they're clearly on the two seed. I don't know that they can get back in the one line here. Does that feel like a team we can still trust? They've had some slip ups here. But could we trust them at that price point? Feels like a good one at two to one to potentially make a final four. Okay, let me do the rare redirect here. Let me give you the team that's on the one line. All right, the last one right now is Yukon who just ascended up there. Would you rather have Yukon's to make the final four price or would you rather have Houston's? And I think we identified if you want Houston, you better hope that they get into Michigan's bracket because it feels like they could, if they got to get into a ground in pound game, that's a team that they could hang with and might eventually get passed. I don't think they have the offensive chops to hang with Duke. I'm even leery of them in Yukon and Arizona just from a size and an interior standpoint. I don't think they're going to be able to rebound enough to be able to have the possessions if Arizona is shooting lights out especially from the perimeter.

10:21I love the redirect council. I would definitely take Yukon at plus 320 versus Houston. It's two to one, but again, the matchups and Greg, this is why Greg Hoopspeederson was great to have them on. Let's take a look and listen on your time here at the Visa and Butterbooks podcast that he would wait until the draw has come out because it does feel like Yukon would be in Ford's bracket right now, the way things stand. So unless Ford gets tripped up somewhere else, you could be headed for a Ford and Yukon matchup once again. I think we'd all like to watch that, betting it would be a different story, but they are plus 320 Yukon to make the final four. The API, the Arnold Palmer invitation is underway right now and it's very early, but nobody is under par. Only four players out there right now. The amateur Daniel Bennett is one over par here. So early on, we gave you our picks earlier in the program as well now that the first round is underway. But Jensen, again, super early, but what it does tell me is it's hard to go low at this place and it's by design. So you talked about it.

11:22We talked about it with Rex Hoggard. And certainly with the West Reynolds way yesterday in the program as well. You better hit fairways here because they're going to make it tough to be able to scramble if you're missing fairways. So accuracy off the tee, sure, length will be great too, but you better be accurate. And I think some of the guys we have in our portfolio, Columnmore Cowell comes to mine here, a guy that fits the bill for a golf course like this. It's that the organ is at the crack of the bat or is it the fans cheering? I'm not sure, but it all works. Padres are an interesting team. Remember, I bet them last year before a series with the Dodgers, I think in maybe July. Then they immediately got

15:27swept by the Dodgers. I went, oh, man, this ticket's dead. And they made a run back. And I believe that one point actually caught the Dodgers again, but couldn't get over that hump. And then in the postseason, Jensen just couldn't hit enough. Well, how do you break down this team that 190 games a year ago? Their win total is down to 83 and a half from last year's wild card team. Makes sense. And some departures will touch on it. You mentioned the playoffs and it's been the last couple of post seasons, Dave in a row, where the offenses evaporated in October. Not a recipe for success, albeit, you feel like this is a line up with the star power of being a machado. Fernando Tatis Jr. Jackson Merrill, they should be able to produce. And it has been one of those offenses that even at Spatius Petco Park, they've had production. The problem is they've, they can't hit a lot of home runs. They were 28th and home runs last year, which is crazy, as I said, with the names that I just read off to you. But a lot has left to be desired, especially for the rest

16:28of their lineup. And we'll get to that upcoming. The focus for me is going to be on the rotation. Gone is Dylan Seas, who signed the Big Free Agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. They did get Michael King to want to sign back. And that is a big, big boost for them, knowing that arguably their best starting pitcher last year was actually Nick Pavetta, so which is kind of crazy to say, knowing Seas was on that roster. They get some reinforcements, Joe Musgrove back from an arm injury. He should be full goal at the beginning of this year. It's a back in the rotation with some other question marks though. Randy Vasquez, Hermann Marquez right now would be your fourth and fifth starters. They had four all stars. Dave, let me say it again, four all stars out of the bullpen just a year ago at the mid-summer classic. They have arguably the best right now in Mason Miller, Adrian Mori-Hone, one of the best set up men in baseball along with Jeremy, Jeremiah Estrada. Those three are going to be great. It's going to be a matter of getting to those three. I am a bit

17:31worried about the back end of the rotation being a little overexposed early and then kind of having the in between of what will happen with first year manager Craig Stamman, who will take over there in the dugout for the pod race. Now he is a pitcher. He does have an experience both in the rotation and in a bullpen, so we'll see how he does it in real time. Some injuries to remember, Dave, you have a you Darvish. Still, it doesn't feel like we've got a clear sense of a timeline. He's still dealing with that internal brace from the elbow surgery. Griffin Canning, unfortunately, had the rupture to kill these halfway through last year. You remember that as a Mets fan seeing that happen. Matt Waldron, the knuckleballer, had issues early in February or late in February, I should say. So they are still down some depth on their pitching side. They've got a kid in Ethan Salis, who is probably going to try and be one of those next young sub 21 superstars. He's

18:3319 years old right now, but the organizational top prospect. He could be on the horizon here sooner than later. But as I sit here, Dave, and I'll kind of go verbatim from what I had written in our recent MLB betting guide, I said the clock is ticking on the current roster construction. And with a backdrop of revenue issues and aging arms, they got within those three games. The Dodgers, as you talked about last September, but they couldn't close the deal. It's an even more herculean task this time around. So I think the wind total is accurate, just because of the uncertainties. And AJ Preller may be forced to have to sell off some assets before the deadline, if indeed this team is not in contention. You know, I've got an affinity for Craig Stamen from our DC days together when he was a player back in the day. I did not see this hiring coming from AJ Preller. And I think that was a surprise move by AJ to do this. You know,

19:33we I think of AJ and you tell me if I'm wrong in this character right characterization. I think of him as a wheeler dealer and he's going to make moves at the deadline one way or the other. He's not going to stand pat. But when you see this, the hiring for to run your club, what is a signal to you? Was he looking for a different voice, a younger voice, a pitching voice to get in there? How much of a move is he putting his reputation on with this hiring? Well, a lot was made of Mike Schilt and in the way that he was, you know, kind of run out of town, a little bit. You can read into whatever reports you want, but it would feel as though at new voice, someone that you could kind of, you know, wrap your arms around would would be the way to go forward here for this Padre's team. As I said, the star power is still there. I think they have one of the best young centerfielders and Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogart's not going to be the power guy that he was in Boston and probably ends up being their lead off hitter this year.

20:34It's what do you get from a Jake Cronin worth a Ramon Loriano Gavin Sheets actually was kind of a surprise guy as their first baseman last year. Right now, it's Freddie for meme as they're starting catcher and then Miguel and Doohar, who spent some time with the Reds signed as a free agent in February. He'll probably be their D8. So that's the lineup. My questions, Dave, are really with the back end of the rotation, the overall health of what the rotation could be. I think there are definitely some landmines that they are going to have to try and be able to dodge. They're back in the bullpen as one of the best in baseball. They're going to be able to close out games that they've got the lead in. It's just a matter of how many leads are they going to have late. They're going to go up against some real formidable opponents here and they better get off to a good start because I think that overhang of the eventual sale of this Padre's team. It's going to come sooner than later. They've dealt with revenue issues the last couple of years. That is really curtailed them from wanting to go out and make the big spends. They tried to go all in a couple of

21:36years. It goes, you well know at the one soda trade. It does not come up roses for them. So at some point, you've got to pivot and with a lot of Albatross contracts that are there, I mean, multi multi million dollar and into late 30s campaigns for Xander Bogart's for Fernando Tati's junior, you know, that is going to have to be addressed. You get to the end of May, Dave, we may have a team that if they are not off to a great start, they may be taking calls and AJ Perler may be getting, you know, some interest on the big names, not just the key pieces, but the big names to potentially scuttle the ship. I mean, I think in my name is shadow. I think of, you know, when he and Bryce Harper were coming up for over three hundred million dollar deals respectively, when they were leaving Baltimore and DC, and you know, they ended up, they paid the freight to go get those guys. You mentioned those trades to go get a one soda. They've tried, like if there's a team that you look at and go, well, you're going to have to sell off those parts that's that's terrible by San Diego. I mean, they've actually tried in years past. So I can

22:39kind of understand at some point where you got to spit the bit and it's like it's just not working for all these different things gotten close knocked on the door. We've pushed the Dodgers, but we're not the Dodgers. We haven't beat them. And how did she has to do that a couple of years ago? So I'm with you. I go get their, their win total at 83 and a half. And we talked about the giants that we kind of like they're over and aiming to have to make the postseason is post money. It's a plus and our five number there to win the West is nine to one. Don't think I'm interested there. When the pennant don't think I'm interested there either at 15 to one. Is there anything that does interest you from a positive spot here with this Padres team? Positive would be a moneymaker. And I would play that Padres to miss the playoffs at mindset on 25. That would be what I would do. And again, I can only envision in a division where the Dodgers will continue to reign supreme. The Diamondbacks had a really good off-season. Maybe under the radar as much as any team, the Dodgers,

23:39or the Diamondbacks had a great off-season. The giants, I think, are going to be vastly improved as we talked about them here on Monday. So Padres may finish fourth in this division ahead of the Colorado Rockies. And that's saying something from just where they were a season ago. And you kind of like the Rockies to be a little bit spunkier this year, if you will. Still bad, but spunkier and what that does is it could take away some of those key wins that you might need if you're a San Diego Padres here to try to run down some of these big boys in the division. But when you look at the main event and you and I have talked about this in specifics here for Max Halle and Charles Du Brunges, Olvera to legends of the sport, all the famous to be fighting for the BMF title. Can't say what the what the MF stands for but I think people can figure it out. Do you just cast away the weight and say all right it's it's one fifty fiveers I've got enough dad on those guys even at fifty five. I don't have to worry about the first time they fought what a decade ago at 145 pounds. Yeah with the modeling we don't include the weight in training the models and therefore I don't input that in in terms of understanding if that's going to factor. Now sometimes I'll look at it if someone makes a drop you know 180 five to 170 and they spend a career racking up pretty good

26:52metrics at 180 five and all of a sudden they're they're fighting someone a little bit smaller. I might give that subjective edge but it's not based on the wind probability that I'm cranking out numerically. So in this case it's not in there. Now mentally I'm thinking all right well is that going to make a difference here but in this case this is very much a styles make fights poster boy fight. So I mean one of the best strikers of all time in Holloway one of the best grapplers in all time in Olivera I don't think the size necessarily decides minute to minute it's the position that decides this fight. So that's why I'm looking at the numbers in terms of you know can Holloway stay standing he's very good at doing that. This Olivera will not be the first person to want to take Holloway down because of the striking but Holloway is very good at remaining on his feet. He stays at a distance 84% of fight time the normal number for that is only 50% so he not only avoids the clinch he avoids going down and honestly it's the clinch is what I think is going to decide despite it's will Olivera close the distance and tangle him up and with Olivera

27:58you've you've got two arms but two legs and it's he's kind of a spider when he gets up close he's going to use all four of those weapons to tangle you up and get you down and he's a kind of guy who's willing to pull guard fight off his back but also just jump on your back like a like a monkey like against the fence I mean he can pull off transitions anywhere so that's where I think this fight takes place and I don't know if the pure size difference is going to make a difference here. Read let me ask you a follow up on just the pace of this fight would we believe that that Holloway might have the opportunity to to wear it down and maybe by a decision or a late stoppage is their value maybe in seeing a result like that on the Holloway side I would expect fireworks just stylistically as you alluded to that being my question is there more value on a result that way and can you see that going a little bit later than expect it. For a striker it's hard to make that prediction because a striker can finish early or late a grappler will normally do it early

29:01and because this fight is really going to boil down to position I think if they're in open water for four to five rounds Holloway is he's going to have his shots I mean he averages 16 strike attempts per minute while he's on his feet that's a lot he's very accurate Olivera not the best defense honestly it's actually below average and I like to say that you know it's defense that wins championships so Olivera I think will take damage if he spends multiple rounds on the feet so that's the big if and in that case that scenario where the line has gone I originally had a money line lean on Holloway I reran the models last night you know that edge has slightly disappeared so it's very minimal in terms of a money line play so I do think you have to take an angle here but it's either Holloway by strikes and I don't want to predict when those could occur because he normally he's a cumulative damage kind of guy he piles it up not necessarily a one hit walkoff guy although he has done that it was we just saw in spectacular fashion but I don't want to play that game with Holloway I would say Holloway by strikes or Olivera one way or the other because

31:12better striker we have another situation where he is more accurate and DeRitter also has soft defense when it comes to strikes and you do tend to see that profile with grapplers they're willing to eat a few strikes on the way in because they're actually not focused on avoiding the punch they're focused on trying to dial in on your legs and get you to the ground so that is a very common feature I see in grappling heavy fighters they don't have very good power strike avoidance so with a guy like Kyle that's gonna pile up so if you're in pursuit you're chasing him his take down defense is actually well above average so normally striker grappler yes you're absolutely right I have a heavy lean historically on the grapplers but in situations where the striking difference is pretty glaring and that striker is also competent enough in defensive wrestling in avoiding those takedowns he's going to find more minutes out of each round to keep it on the feet now he may get taken down eventually but he's gonna score points on the feet and then he might also nullify or just neutralize what that ground game the differential that would favor

32:17DeRitter here so he's actually pretty good so I think he's only been taken down in two different fights Kyle has and in both fights he ended up with more control time than his opponent so that tells me he's still comfortable there and you know he's a Brazilian of course he's comfortable in that but I think he forces it on the feet long enough where I'm actually willing to pay the lay the juice here all right Reid does a couple of more featured fights here in this main card that I think you've got some some reads on for us literally and figuratively Rob Fawn and Raul Rosas a junior it looks like I'm seeing numbers upwards of a two dollar favorite for Rosas and then almost a kind of a coin flip fight between Drew Dover and Michael Johnson things that really stood out to you in handicapping both of these fights in the main car well finally we have a grappler that I'm backing here in Rosas junior versus Rob Fawn numerically yes Rob Fawn is the more gifted striker he's got a lot of power for a van and weight although he is almost 39 now

33:20this is going to be one of the biggest age differentials in UFC history I'm sure they'll put up some sort of stat when this fight starts on the screen Rosas junior is like 17 years younger that's that is mind blowing and but you know in a striking matchup that might be even more important but I don't think Rosas junior is just going to stand a bang he wastes no time going to the ground I think it's like every 15 seconds basically he's or 30 seconds in open water he's going to attempt at least one take down attempt so he might not get you on the first time but he's going to eventually get you and Rob Fawn for what it's worth his take down differences actually below average so we do have a situation here where the grappler has a lot of advantages I do expect this to be on the mat long enough that Rosas junior is either going to backpack or get a submission finish eventually so I do see it stacked up for the younger grappler in this case now Michael Johnson little different we got two old guys two old vets they know how to swing they know how to trade

34:21I think Michael Johnson who's been a bit hit or miss he actually has some advantages here over Dover Dover is the one with the really bad defense but a little too willing to get into a fire fight and while Dover might be more swinging for the fences in his style Michael Johnson can hit you from a distance and so I think that's the difference and I don't know if this one even goes to the mat.
