This is V6N by the Books. On V6N, these sports betting network. Top of the hour, it is V6N by the books, Dave Ross, right here at the Mint Gaming Hall. A Franklin, Kentucky, our closer Jensen Lewis back home in Cleveland, Ohio. It is sharp weight here on the network. A lot of fun going to have Coach Tom Kreen. Join us here later on. This hour to help us break down. I love getting coaches perspectives here, Jensen, on what they see versus what we see as handicappers and fans of the sport. Obviously, a very different sometimes in the prism of a head coach. So we'll get those from the eyes of Tom Kreen a little bit later on. And got some more contests that we're going to talk about here as this hour goes and are best bets. But we're looking for chaos. You and I love it in the betting sports role. Let's see if we can find some today in this edition of our chaos candidates. I love the base.

Jensen, you have won the coin toss. You have elected to receive. So you, sir, are up with your first chaos candidate and see double a style. If you've never been to Fayetteville, it's a Wu Pig Sui. And there really is no stopping this man right now when he takes the court. I know there's been a lot of our talent here on the network. I think the follow the money guys have talked about it. Perhaps down the phone, Toby and stormy on money moves. There's been a lot of chatter about him potentially moving on up in the upcoming NBA draft as a as a number one overall selection. Well, I got a front row seat to see how he can absolutely take over a game, which he did in the final of that SEC tournament meeting my Vanderbilt Commaurs. What does he do for an encore for John Cala Perry's club, which really they only go about seven deep. I think the ultimate chaos for me is,

as long as Arkansas doesn't have to play an extremely physical opening round of 64 game and just kind of seeing where they are against the rainbow warriors of Hawaii, then you're set up pretty well for whoever the eventual winner of Wisconsin at a high point is. And you can just kind of say, all right, big boy. This is why we got you. It's on you. And every time he takes the court, he's probably the best player on that court in this tournament. If I'm Arizona, I've got a lot of trepidation about trying to limit him. You got to try and get this group into foul trouble early because again, I don't really have, you know, much past the seven guys they run in their rotation. But mental men, is this is dynamic a town as we have in this NCAA tournament. Darius Acuff Jr. My first chaos candidate today. I think the misconception. If you go back to say 2003 historically with some of these teams

that were lower seas like Syracuse was a three seed that year. Carmell Anthony. They think it was Carmell Anthony. Well, he had another NBA or in a team work was on that squad. He had Jerry McNamara knocking down seven threes in the national championship game. I look at senior players like a Danny Manning at Kansas. When they won the national championship in 88. And it was Danny Manning in the miracles. Do you think the Darius Acuff Jr. is that type of talent? And that yes, Arkansas has got other talented players on that roster. But we're talking about a senior player. Like I'm looking at Arkansas minus an hour 20 to make the sweet 16. I wonder if that's a good bet. If as you say, we could be looking at the new potential number one pick in the NBA draft. I would not shy away from it. And as I said, you know, just Wisconsin in a potential round of 32 matchup have what it takes to stop. If they come out shooting, especially from the perimeter, the way they did against Vanderbilt, there is dangerous a team in this tournament. I wonder if my chaos candidate here in your neck of the woods

could not just surprise tonight and tomorrow night rather. But how about overall make a little run? The Red Hawks maybe the most talked about non power conference team. And I can't even remember the last time we talked about as much as we talked about Miami of Ohio here this year undefeated regular season. Well, they can't lose in the conference because if they lose in the conference tournament, they're not going to get an at large bit. Well, then they lose in the first round of the conference tournament. And they still get an at large bit. And I think everybody goes good. They should have gotten in. So how good are they? Like do we really know how good they are? Well, we know they can score. Can they defend? We're going to find out tomorrow night because that's going to be an interesting first round matchup against SMU. But dare I say, Jensen, the number keeps coming down on this team, right? 9876 and asked for starting to see with Miami of Ohio. Now, I don't like to be on the chic betting side here with the public. If they're doing this almost out of sentimentality that we want to see this team make a run. But it is going to be a de facto home game.

As you have pointed out there in Dayton, Ohio, if they can get out of that game against SMU, it's been on a skid to end their regular season and postseason as well. I just wonder, is this team better? Do we have to start looking at mid mid majors a little bit differently here in the future? And not just go, well, they don't play anybody. Well, they play everybody that's on their schedule and they beat everybody that's on the schedule in the regular season. So I think we're going to find out just how good this team actually is. I hope they can cause some chaos. It's better for kind of the conversation pieces out there. Let's see if they're legit. I haven't bought into them yet. So I'm getting a little bit nervous about where the line is going here. But if they can upset and flat out beat SMU, they could be an agent of chaos here in the short term in March. Madness. Your second candidate is whom? All right. We are in a Lewis Ross administration going to remove the old daylight savings time issue. Yes. And that one we don't have to worry about what we do have to worry about especially in our handicapping space is those initial games with the multiple time zones traveled by some of these clubs. We heard a lot from Mitt Kronin at UCLA about the ridiculousness of the big tent. It felt like it was a staple of every post game press. We got a travel. It's all the way. Hey, guess what? Here's another three hour time change travel for you against UCF. And you got to play them in Philadelphia.

You've got, of course, you know, Hawaii's going to do it as well and when they play Arkansas. But you know, that is what it is. How about St. John's going all the way out to the west coast. And they got to play Northern Iowa. I think Villanova has to do the same against Utah State. There are a couple of these teams where those time zone issues might affect the body clock. So if you're looking at some of those instances, you know, perhaps first half spreads, maybe some totals, you know, you're just kind of off a step or two. It may take a half for those body clocks and those things to get moving. So something to keep in mind here, the time zone travel. Certainly an element that can cause some chaos here in the NCAA tournament. Do you like that Cronin kind of verbalized all of that? Like UCLA is in the big 10 now, right? I mean, it makes no sense geographically. We know that. So when you put it out there in the ether and it's almost like the committee gents and heard. I'm like, oh, really? You got a problem with that.

You're going to fill it. You're going to play early. Good luck. I think the other part, we have a generational opportunity. Should UCLA get past UCF and you kind of handles business against Ferman for an all-time or head coach, and post game press conference with Nick Cronin. Cronin and Hurley. Oh, sign me up for that, Jensen. That is chaos. That would be the ultimate chaos right there. Look, my second chaos getting it. Yes, it's a bit of a homer pick here, but it is my alma mater, baby. It's the VCU Rams 6 and 11 match up here against North Carolina. And here's what I'd say sometimes your heart and your head can align. So I know if you're out there listening, you're going to, of course, you're going to pick VCU. That's where you went. Yes, but I would say this. I think they're actually better than North Carolina right now because there is no cable blouse and out there for North Carolina. I don't want the two and a half points. I'm going to play my Rams in the money line. You're going to get about a plus dollar 15 out there in the marketplace here to beat UNC. And I would say this even going back to the Eric Mainer days.

If you remember that at VCU took on Duke in the first round. And that was a one point loss. Like it feels like historically my alma mater gets up obviously for these big time challenges. Against the ACC in particular. So I think this is another one of those cases for a school in middle of Virginia right there in Richmond. That, you know, we're always it's kind of still ACC country still pervades into Virginia. Obviously the University of Virginia being in Charlottesville. And sometimes you do get that little brother syndrome. And I think VCU we've got it. Like we get all those coaches like the Shaka smarts and the Will Wade's other world that go on to greener pastures. But they all cut their teeth right there at VCU. So I think that the program is in really good standing here with who they are. I think VCU knows who they are. And when they get the opportunities against these bigger schools and these bigger conferences in the bigger stages like an NCAA turn of a Jensen. We don't only don't miss normally right there.

So yeah, I like the Rams. You want to take the two and a half points. That's fine. But not only do I think they can beat North Carolina here. But if they get out, I think they could be a dangerous out past this first round. So my Rams, let's cause chaos. Don't need the points. Don't want the points. Let's go get the win and show people who we are right there from Richmond, Virginia. Do you get the same feeling with Vanderbilt that like, hey, I don't want to bet with my heart. It's your alma mater. But again, sometimes they can align because I think your squad is really good too. Yeah. I mean, hey, 75 to one, count me in. And obviously with a lot of our esteemed colleagues here with what you've seen. And we like to look at recent four, man. What a, an SEC tournament they had Greg Peterson mentioned it. One of the last undefeated teams to begin the regular season. I do like where they are. And that's that South region is up for grabs, man. I have Illinois coming out of it. I tried to go more with my head than my heart.

But hey, if I'm staring down Vandy and Illinois in the elite eight, I am a very, very happy customer. And again, I don't have any tickets on VCU past the game, the individual game. So it's not like I'm picking them to go to the final four, the elite eight or anything like that. We love to see it. We'd absolutely love to see it. But it's not something that I am betting just yet. Okay, we have much more to get to including our best bets. And if you're in some brackets out there, we'll try to help navigate some of those waters here and some of those contests. That's all next right here on Vison by the folks. So you're listening to this podcast because you want an edge. But what if I told you you're only halfway there, you've got the mindset. But there are other things going on here in the world of sports. Jensen that's going to break it down today in this addition of the daily docket your snap shot of odds trends and futures. This is the daily docket. Doesn't get a whole lot bigger than the WBC these days and I do feel like as we talked about earlier in the program. If it didn't take hold the first couple iterations of it. It feels like with every passing term. We're seeing more and more excitement into the WBC. Now is that just because USA is in the finals tonight against Venezuela. Let's just say, for instance, we didn't make it to the final. Do you think there would be the same buzzer doesn't have to be because it's good old us a. No, no, I think this is remarkable from what the Dominican Republic did. Venice, Whale and now punching their ticket to the finals. And of course, the Cinderella story of team Italy. It is captured the imaginations of of not only Europe and Vinnie Pasquantino kind of talked about it in a post game press conference of all those people.

I'm time. Time change wise. You got kids up till two or three in the morning over there in Rome and Florence and watching some of their heroes and potentially they're the future upcoming in the next decade or so. This is a way of life. They were showing Danny Palencia, the closer for the Chicago Cubs who came in and closed it out for Venezuela showing his hometown and people in the streets dancing. This is bigger than I think people realize in America, like the World Series is one championship. And that's how we crown our champion and major league baseball. But this is the world's crown according to our Latin American friends and family team Japan. I mean, they let go of their manager. He basically stepped down because you know, they couldn't repeat as WBC chip. This means so much the growth of the game. It is so it is so high and the momentum is so large right now that we can't afford a lockout. I mean, you have to got to continue this moving because people are looking forward to it. And it is so electric these last couple of nights it will again tonight.

We're getting perspective here tonight would you be looking toward the Venezuela inside you can get on the run one here plus a run and a half at plus money at plus $8. Now again, you want to take Venezuela against the United States here plus 2 25 is what I'm seeing out there in the marketplace by 2508. You get a lay it with USA out of that total sitting at 8 1 1 2 1 and a half. No one will claims going to get the start here for team USA. water Rodriguez, the lefty will be on the bump here for Venezuela. We mentioned earlier in the program, maybe a depleted bullpen for team USA. What about Venezuela? Do they have enough pitching to hold down the USA line up here for the majority of it? That's going to be a fascinating part of where this specific time of game is. Dave, remember, if Venezuela playing last night, they may have because where we are in the spring training calendar, you may have some relievers that are not available because it's a back-to-back. And I wonder if that'll be a point of contention in the next iteration of the WBC. Will you allow at least a day off for a team that plays on the eve or at least before when that final matchup

will be consummated? So I'd manage to team USA. I would caution people looking at where that run line is. I would actually try and get that two and a half, that plus two and a half if you're looking for the run line of the Venezuela side. I'm seeing minus $1.48 right now for that price on draft kings. I just think the way that the Venezuelan lineup is going right now. And knowing that in the team USA bullpen day, we got reports yesterday, David Bednar, who's been as good as anyone outside of Mason Miller, is probably not available tonight just because of where we are in the spring training calendar. There is also a question of Mason Miller's availability up in the air. And oh, by the way, all Mason Miller's done in the last 68 hitters he's faced, including last year's postseason and regular season and this world baseball classic hitters are O for 68 with 44 strikeouts. Let me say that again. Wow. 68 at bats. There's 68 hitters face. No hits. 44 strikeouts. The

dude is physically unhittable right now. The way he's going, but he may not be available. We'll have to wait and watch. So I would jump on, you know, the Venezuelan alternate run line right now before his availability is made public. Both starting pictures today. McLean and Rodriguez are 45 to one to win tournament MVP judges. The favorite of plus 370 Roman Anthony is six to one in the marketplace here. Ronald Cooney Jr's plus 750 Bobby Whits plus 850. Anything that jumps out to you on the MVP stage does it feel like any American has said, yeah, this is, this is mine to lose. Do you think judge is the rightful favorite of plus 370? I do. If you're looking at some MVPs, if you don't want to play Venezuela on the money line, then I would look to, you know, Ronald Cooney Jr. If you want a super duper long shot, I mean, will you rebrand you has got to be up there as well. You know, that to me is if you're looking to pivot, you know, from from just the traditional money line, those would be my recommendations. Let's get into the NBA. What a bit here is

we're coming down the stretch here in the regular season sixers and nuggets tonight. Sons and T-wolves thunder and magic anything in particular here. I'm seeing OKC is nine and a half point favorites on the row ad against Orlando Miami is getting four and a half tonight against Charlotte pistons as you can imagine massive favorites against the wizard 17 and a half. Any of these games that stand out to you today at the association? A couple of official plays for me. The sons on a back-to-back here. They were able to get across covering that spread last night. That was very, very close in Boston. I've got them at five plus five and a half. They'll be in Minnesota tonight. They've actually been one of the better teams. ATS wise in that regard and especially just on the road that number from five and a half. Now I'm seeing some three and a halfs there at circus. So the sons and official play for visa and pro subscribers plus five and a half. I actually I'm going to lay it with my Cleveland Cavaliers nine and a half on the road in Milwaukee tonight. Do think the boys

continue to try and augment not only where they are currently fourth in the Eastern conference standings. They've been middling a little bit here Dave five and five in their last 10. But do think you take advantage of a Milwaukee Bucks team that is still on the outside looking in and boy barring something completely unforeseen. They are not going to qualify for that play in tournament on the Eastern Conference side. The Pacers and the Knicks. I played the under 226 here at minus a dollar 30. You want to talk about a team in New York that is really trending in the right direction. Three straight wins including seven of their last 10 Pacers dead last already eliminated. It's tanking season for them at 15 and 53. They have lost 13 in a row Dave 13 consecutive losses for the Indiana Pacers. I don't think it changes. I just didn't have a want to lay the 16 and a half of this is blow up potential. Then I do think we sneak under that total already down from 226. The number I got to 223 and a half one other play in the association tonight. I do like the spurs

laying the big number speaking of tanking season minus 13 and a half. The Kings also have actually one back to back games 10 there five and five in their last 10. But I would say the spurs laying that big number. I'm not going to shy away from it. They are eight and two in their last 10. So San Antonio minus 13 and a half got that at minus 108 on draft Kings shop around for your best price. But I think they handled their business on the road at the golden one center. Yeah, you mentioned the next or just a game and a half behind Boston right now for the two seed in the east. The Celtics still three and a half games behind the pistons there in the Eastern Conference run down here about 14 15 games here left in the regular season for those teams. Let's get to the night on ice here. Hurricanes blue jackets in your neck of the woods and the Bruins against the Canadian's lay out but don't north of the border there anything that you like on the ice. Yeah, how about my jackets all of a sudden they are a viable playoff candidates. And what do they have a tough test tonight against the Hurricanes? Carolina, when you look

overall at where they've been, especially on the road, 18, nine and four very stout. But my jackets five one and four in their last 10. They have shown a lot of fight just two points out of a playoff spot. Actually, like the under here Dave, under six and a half minus $1.15 played that as well. Just think the rebound here has been awesome. They have been a force to be reckoned with here at nationwide arena after the all star break and the Olympic break. So I do like that under out west our golden nights actually do think man alive the Buffalo savers what a story there in the Eastern Conference Dave right now they're the leaders in the Atlantic division. They have overtaken the Tampa Bay lightning. But I think it's VGK who gets the better of Buffalo tonight. And I actually will play the under in this matchup too. So golden nights minus $1.25 on the money line. And I'll also play the under six and a half got that at minus $1.10. I'm seeing that probably the best price in the market right now on draft king or excuse me on a hard rock. So

like that little two for one there. And one more on the money line the sharks plus a $1.45 in Edmonton little sneaky money line underdog play there on the road north of the board. continue. Sharp week here on decent real pleasure to welcome back to the program time cream former college basketball head coach of course went all the way to final four back of the day with market had great squads at Indiana as well in Georgia analyst now for ESPN and NBC give them a follow on X at Tom cream coaches great to have you back on the show. I'm always curious what it's like in the mind of a coach right now. Once you get selection Sunday done and then you have to turn around here and if you're not playing in the first four you get to Thursday or Friday to play that first game. What's this like from a coach's perspective scouting your opponent and then getting possibly ready to play a couple of games in multiple days. Well early on in the week what you're trying to do is look for any commonalities that you can for what your players have already seen. Certain type of player is one thing and that's a little that's a little harder right but you can bet if you're looking for comparisons you're looking for things that connect with them okay like this guy shoots it like such and such or this guy's got he's really good over his left

shoulder dropping into the drop step like when we played such and such and you're trying to look for concepts okay they run this play they run that play and so you're trying to make it seem normal because everything around them right now is not normal and in this day and age the distractions of everything that's going on with what's next is as high a level as it's ever been right am I am I going to go in the portal am I going to go in the draft am I definitely going to transfer how much money am I going to get paid all those different things and so you have got to bring a commonality to it you've got to bring a comfort level to them that they have been there done this even though when they get inside those lights it's not that but something I learned from Jim Tressel and I was at Indiana when I learned this we're sitting at a at a banquet together it was a football basketball banquet in Middletown Ohio and he did something and I hope I can get this on and I kept this forever he said you have to keep raising the vision for your team he said because

the reality alright the distance between the vision and the reality is the energy of your team and when the vision gets here or when the when the reality gets there to the vision now you have no energy right and that's when people think they've reached a level and I and that made such crystal clear it made sense right because is a coach if you're not raising the vision level of the players and if you're not raising okay their energy it's really easy especially this time of year well you know what we made the tournament or you know what we were good we won our first game or we we got to the sweet 16 the sweet 16 is the biggest difference because a lot of different teams can get to the sweet 16 but it's a lot harder to get to the elite day right and once you get to the lead eight obviously getting to the final four is hard but that's what sweet 16 to a lead eight jump is big so I would say this too you cannot stop coaching your team you have got to keep

we had a situation my first time we we got to this rate we beat Holy Cross this year we went to the final four with Wayne Wade and Travis Dean or Steve Novak guys like that we we beat Holy Cross and it was a close game we beat Missouri and overtime where we went 10 for 10 we get to Minnesota and we have a practice the day before the Pittsburgh game and it's a joke right like we're not we're not locked in and and it was okay but it wasn't close to the standards that we had set and so we get into after the game like I mean after the press I lit into them right and then we went back that night and had a film session and we win the Pittsburgh game and I think if we don't get that wake up call in the practice before the Pittsburgh game there's no way we're mentally ready to play against Kentucky because Kentucky was 26 and 126 straight games at that point been up been behind for 11 seconds they were firing away the number one seed and at one point in time in that game we had them down 24 points and I I swear that the Wednesday practice

meeting and the film session that night because I went back to the film session was equally as hard that got them real waking to what we were capable of doing and then they took care of the rest and I think that's what has to happen in coaching what people want you to see all this pageantry of the tournament no man this is still straight business you're still trying to get these guys to understand what it takes and how good they can be so there's a physical element to this but there is a huge mental element and component to this oh that's great perspective and as we know coach you would know as well coaching matters at this point the season and keeping that focus by the way well done in the synergy of Indiana Hoosier's middle town Ohio the home of the great Indiana Hoosier cow Schwarber well done on that one the the one seeds last year every all the chalk held we we had the kind of the behemoth of the final four when you talked about how difficult it is not only getting the sweet 16 but also to the elite eight can you identify maybe which one

seeder or maybe there's a couple of them in this year's tournament that might have the most perilous road or the most difficult road in your eyes to be able to get to that elite eight and eventually to Indianapolis well I didn't know what perilous meant to you said difficult so now I can handle I can handle that part um yeah I think Michigan I think Michigan was there's ways to beat Michigan and I think this tournament actually is a little bit matchup driven for the higher seeds even in the first weekend and and a lot of times I think the matchup thing is overrated until you get to the sweet 16 and elite eight but yeah I don't think it is this year and I think there are teams that have issues uh Arizona seems to be the one that has the least amount of things that are concerning that if they're not getting to their strengths they would have a hard time winning because at this the and when you get into the sweet 16 elite eight

you may not get to your strengths you're a great shooting team or you may not make shots that happened to us when we played Syracuse in Indiana in 2013 they they were in their zone and we struggled shooting the ball we our best players were all of nine from three because we had trouble seeing over the zone the length of the zone was an issue plus we had a player Jordan Halsey was a phenomenal player phenomenal shooter for us he had been injured throughout the week he didn't practice live uh literally until the day of the game you know when we had our walkthrough and we couldn't make any shots right so like you have got to be able to overcome your weaknesses in a game and so like here's a great example you're not a great three point shooting team like Arizona is not a great three point shooting team is since the Houston game when they won at Houston 22% of their points are coming from the three point line 24% of their points are coming from the foul line and 29% of their shots are coming from the three point lines I like that's not a lot right

but they offensive rebound at such a high rate they get putbacks at a high rate they scorn the paint at a high rate they get to the foul line like we said so like okay you can overcome a tough shooting night but I think michigan is definitely one of those teams because they can struggle guarding on the perimeter with their big men and we saw with Purdue the other day there were there were two great examples this Wisconsin made 16 threes against michigan on Saturday and Purdue attacked the bodies of the big straight cough and ran oscarclough like they went at them on Sunday to win the championship so like that's an example for me that's not uh michigan's not good no that's a michigan has an issue with that I think Ohio State or TCU could give Duke some issue because they have uh physicality TCU can get up into you Ohio State has real guards and john mobile junior and Bruce Thornton TCU is a physical driving rebounding uh take your space go up into you type a team

and the teams that can create a lot of one-on-one action like florida state did twice against Duke could give Duke problems because I don't think they're great one-on-one defenders but so yeah I I think those would be those would be the ones that would give me the most concern going into the sweet 60 got a minute to go here with tom kreen great catching up with coach kreen here uh doing a great job here at ESPN and mbc breaking down the game these days coach if you had to say uh who's going to be the last team standing here who's it going to be and why? Arizona to me I think it's Arizona florida in the finals it could go either way I think the difference is Arizona has got the guard play that's consistent throughout the year jade and bradley burden braiden buries buries anthony de laurso they've got the front line they've got four legit frontliners I think Ivan karchenkov is going to be a guy that the the world is going to know even more so than the basketball world at the end of this tournament uh braiden buries is a phenomenal

freshman I think he's a single digit um draft pick when it comes co-opete those guys have been have done a great job inside of there jaden bradley is a leader you got to have great guard play but you got to have rim protection and you've got to have ways to get to the file line Arizona's got all that uh love it coach uh very quickly you enjoying a calling games these days instead of the pressure of being on the sidewalks well I miss I get riled up talking about some of the stuff with coaching so I miss it right now I've been able to talk to you guys and and I know I spent too long on that mentality but that's such a huge part of what this is all about and people miss this they want to look at the numbers and they want to look at this match up and that match of no it is your mindset and how you get them to that place and you keep them growing so yeah I miss it but I love what I'm doing I love learning and I love being able to to learn new things about the game and bring it down a show like this or bring it to television you're the best we appreciate you you're always welcome here anytime you want to come back coach we appreciate your

and that was Syracuse in that two three zone that shut them down that day I think what we're getting at when you're talking about a team like Tom had there they were number one seed right hmm outside of last year we're all four number one seeds got to the final four that is the abnormality that does not have that's only happened twice in the history of the tournament so when you're filling out these brackets will get to the contest that we have here a visa with our friends of profit x and edge boost that there can be danger in playing the chalk and I know we feel like it might be chalky because the three best schools all year were easy to identify do you think we might be headed for more chaos and as coach cream pointed out that match up that year was just a bad match up for his particular team we could find that it could be match up dependent. Oh it is and I told you when when I filled out Michigan to win it all I had I had said it on on Monday show that round of 32 if it's St. Louis that gets through they present all kinds of issues for what Michigan likes to do and and again I've always said with you that it's that quick

turnaround time it's not the first yet plenty of time to prep we're not in any danger we don't think of Michigan losing to the winner of tonight's UMBC our game on the first four right but it is that quick turnaround and and what what he coach cream alluded to you got to identify what what those those symmetries are what you do well what those other teams what what is a pattern that that you find that you can stop so we we said it when the bracket came out I know a lot of our colleagues on the channel did as well and the network that the East reason for Duke is an absolute gauntlet Arizona even even with the potential sweet 16 against either Arkansas or Wisconsin it's all that time to prep it's not just Arizona's time but it's it's the opponents time and I'm very anxious to see how the South plays out Florida is the defending champion hey you got to go through the champs so very anxious to see at least when we get to Thursday and Friday what the dynamics are

if it's not day one usually we see day two or vice versa of when that chaos ensues and so coach in case you're just joining us he did pick Arizona to to beat Florida in their bid to go back to back here as national champions in the final on that Monday night final so he's got the Arizona walkouts and Tommy Lloyd getting that first victory as a head coach there into the ultimate prize here it was interesting to talk about with coach the mentality that the coaches have to begin to bring and that it's still coaching these guys this isn't the time according to coach Crane you don't take the hand off the steering wheel right and let these guys he mentioned the Dwayne Wade team when they got and they played Kentucky and to get to the final four like he didn't feel like they were ready they needed to be coach right there at the wire like that's interesting to me because I think a lot of times you look historically and go hey man now that we've got to eat your roll out the basketballs and the best teams going to win them with the best talent and that's not the vibe I picked up from coach Crane it will come down to some of these coaches X's and those especially in

this quick turnaround games right that you might play a team one day you beat that team and in 48 hours you have a completely different formula for success against another team with those matchups that we're talking about so that I find fascinating and you should factor that in if you're in some of these bracket challenges like we have here at the V some March betting challenge it is presented by prophet X and edge boost so Jensen real prizes here up at stake $2,000 for the overall champion a thousand for second 500 for third plus separate prizes for the best first and second half of the tournament so over six K total is on the line here and here's the the kicker here if you've got an edge boost account every single prize doubles completely free to enter and free to sign up so again you should get on that but Jensen after hearing that from coach when you strategize a little bit with this contest that we have at Beeson with our friends at prophet X and edge boost how do you break that down really from a strategy standpoint yeah I think ultimately you look at at least in my bracket

I will be targeting those underdogs that I would have winning outright and so you know South Florida catching five and a half would would would definitely be one that I'm interested in uh we've talked a little bit more on on Monday show about how the five seeds uh when they've been laying uh the the the spreads that they have have had just an awful time covering it in in recent tournament history same thing with the four seeds and Dave I think this will be a huge litmus test of two seeds that are are laying the 20 plus points that that have just been utterly awful at covering to you know they're they're huge numbers but it's been advantageous to back so you might be looking at those opportunities in this contest and you know hey if you get to a point where totals end up being the way you want to go we we've seen a couple of these that are that are astronomical into the mid to high 160s we've also seen the flip side here you're seeing some in in the 137

range uh I think that's going to be one to to follow here do you mix and match on spreads and totals again you've got to make 20 picks in this first round in that uh that March betting challenge here with with Veson uh I'm excited to see it uh I was right there at the top with Matt Brown in last year's competition getting all the way to the final had a chance to beat him on that national championship Monday so I'm hoping to reprise that role of playing deep into March and hopefully into early April as well. And again if you want to sign up for what Jensen and I are talking about just head over to vison.com slash contest you can create your account there and get in on the March betting challenge vison.com slash contest again it is completely free but there is real money to be one here uh at the end of the day we've got the first four in tonight in date no hyal we've got a matchup of 16 seats here with UMBC against Howard and then a really interesting matchup here with don't turn your back in the wolf pack and see state taking on hook on and Matthew McConaughey

and Texas Longhorns here. UMBC by the way is right now a point and a favorite over Howard that total is sitting around 140 and a half and a small number here for Texas laying a point and half against the wolf pack much higher total of 157 and a half but that total has come down uh since this game was announced here on Selection Sunday Jensen still waiting for those numbers to kind of to mold one way or the other so you can find an advantage anything that you like so far. Yeah probably a wait uh but for those that don't have it yet uh highly encourage you to go buy that uh vison march madness betting guide 1999 right now at vison.com uh the great Steve back it in with some awesome first four game trends over the last 13 NCAA tournaments Dave underdogs own a 28 and 23 ATS mark that's just a tick under 55% how about since 2001 only eight first four games with lines of five points or higher okay in those eight games or at least

in those lines of five points or higher favorites seven and two straight up six and three ATS more on those points for Ed Benchmarks to in that same span since 2001 favorites of less than five points 31 and 24 straight up but just 23 31 and one ATS why do we say that because guess what tonight both matchups favorites of less than five points the only one of the first four at least right now that is higher than five that is SMU tomorrow night against Miami of Ohio they're laying six and a half Lee high currently tomorrow the first game against Prairie View they're laying three and a half so some of the factor in here again just a reminder when you have a favorite of less than five points in the first four they've won 31 and 24 straight up but it has been real tough for them to cover at 23 31 and one you know we had the conversation go back and take

a listen in your time here Vison by the book so like and subscribe to the podcast we'd appreciate that as well that Matt Eamon's an hour one he is on Miami of Ohio he got a much better number obviously I believe plus eight is what he had there were some lines out there he got it at eight and then it's drifted down as you mentioned the six and a half I wonder if that's going to get even lower tomorrow at some point Jensen I'm wondering if I'm going to buy back in on SMU this thing hits down to five and a half do we think that that adjustment would be too much in the marketplace it might be also looking at the total in that one it's the highest to the first four david one 64 in a half and something to keep in mind from Steve McAnon as well when you're looking at totals um any uh that are higher than 139 in the first four 15 and 9 to the under that 60% however games went over last year including two with totals above 139 so just something to factor in before you place your wagers there tonight my man we're in it now baby the madness will begin tonight

we'll talk about what we saw tomorrow and then preview the other first four games in as always and thanks to Tom Kreen to be joining the program that was a lot of fun as well uh if you want more vison right now you just go to vison.com, vison.com, vison.com, a number's name, Gil Alexander, Kelly Bittwin, they're up next.
