This is Vecin by the books on Vecin, V-SEN, V-SEN, V-SEN sports betting network. Top of the hour is Vecin by the books, Dave Ross, right here at the Midgaming Hall. He had frankly could suck your enclosure just as well as back home and cleave into Ohio. My man, I'll have to get to here in this hour. Hoops, Pearson's going to join us in the very next segment. So right back to college basketball here. But Jensen, it's the legal tampering period in the NFL. The league does not stop. That's where we begin our highlights and headlines. Help your bottom line with today's highlights and headlines. Take your pick. It was a Schmorgersburg of movement in the NFL yesterday. We normally always start with quarterbacks because it's a quarterback driven league. We talked about yesterday in the program to a Tucka Valella officially was told he's services in South Beach are no longer required.
And we said then yesterday, I said, hey, they're going to sign week will us. Well, they signed week will us. Not a surprise there at three years, 67 and a half million dollars. Toa is going to go to the Falcons one year deal there. Their number goes from 80 to one to win the Super Bowl to 100 to one. I don't know if it's based on that news of toa going to the ATL. Kelsey's going to go back to the Chiefs in a one year deal. The Raider spent all kinds of money. The Tyrone Linda mom is now the highest paid center in the history of the NFL. Alex Pierce got a major deal to go back to Indy. Jalen Phillips is going to upgrade that Carolina defense. And how about Mike Evans going from the Buccaneers to the 49ers. And Kenneth Walker also is going to be leaving the reigning defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks to the Chiefs. Jensen a bevy of moves to choose from. For sure, if I'm handicapping quickly, a cliff notes of winners, I think the Raiders just spending the money they did and addressing a lot of the issues, even trading Max Crosby, the Niners you talked about, Mike Evans. That's a big splash for them. Carolina, you highlighted earlier in the show for people just joining us. Very aggressive on their defensive editions.
I would say we can put the Chiefs in there getting a notable running back when you bring in the Super Bowl MVP. That's always a good thing. I would also throw the Pittsburgh Steelers in there, buddy. And we get a chance to talk about them. Our number one, but you get the trade and the extension for Michael Pittman, Jr. now going opposite of DK Medcap. That's a nice little one to punch there. Whoever will be quarterback, whether it be Aaron Rogers or someone new. That's a nice top target to add in that Pittsburgh Steelers offense. Also, Rico Dattle coming over there to help out that running back core. So interesting small, small sneaky moves here that some of these teams are doing. But certainly that's going to look very different. As you mentioned, whether or not it's Aaron Rogers or not. By the way, we can do the rest of the show just on the NFL. But there's a ton of other things going on, including Team USA in the WBC. They do hang on. Remember, there's a five, nothing lead early. Paul Schienes look great. They hold on to beat Mexico five to three. So they stay perfect in pool play here at three. And I'm going to take on Italy tonight. We know the Tarek school. His WC is officially done.
He said of his mixed emotions, Jensen, that like he wanted the body one to go. And maybe he was told that you can't go. What do you make of that on the short term? What do you think of big term USA kind of expected? But I understand the angst of, hey, you get that feeling. There's no feeling like competing for your country. And I think he got the bug and he'll be back at least as a spectator in the dugout. Said he'll be back for the semis in what they hope is the World Baseball Classic Final. Your boy, the young pop, Noel McLean, getting the ball tonight for Team USA against the Italians. Team Italy, a candidate for stock up, stock down tomorrow. Stay tuned for that. But we also get a banger tomorrow too. Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Dave, if you want to know what a World Series game would feel like at Marlins Park, you're going to get it with the WBC fan bases from both those countries. And the absolute circus. It's going to be tomorrow night for the champion there of pool D.
Yeah, this has been good for baseball as a whole, right? Not just in major league baseball, just baseball in general across the world. This is what this is supposed to be. And I think so far, so darn good. We know that March Madness is always wild. And some of these smaller conference tournaments, your punch and tickets here for schools that maybe not to the norm for everybody out there watching. Furman is in from the so con and Troy from the Sun Belt. And Jensen, when you look at this again, these will be the 15s and 16s. And you kind of look at them and you'll say, man, do I want to take all those points with teams like this next week when we see the pairings? Any takeaways here? Do you think either one of these two teams could be dangerous this time next week? Yeah, Furman is one that's been highlighted a underdog. Basically, that ends up knocking off one of the several one seeds that have no longer been able to punch their tickets into the big dance. I know Furman's been rumored as a 15 or a 16 seed. Tell you, if I'm either of those higher ranked teams that have to draw them,
pack your lunch and maybe even a little appetizer for dinner because they come to play, they're a stringent group. So thanks just to see what that draw looks like comes election Sunday. We know the big boy is going to get it underway in the major conference tournaments here. We've been breaking those down as the show is going on here. So again, like subscribe wherever you get your podcast, go back and take a listen. ACC, big 12, big 10, all of those conference tournaments going to begin later on this afternoon. Chalk, certainly in the ACC feels like might be plays for us. We'll get to those a little bit later on. But Jensen, it does feel like we'll find out who the underbelly is of some of these power conferences and see if any of those teams can make end roads against the big boys later on in the week. You mentioned that ACC chalk. I did add that official chalk parlay and for people just joining us, opening round ACC tournament favorites. This person Steve McEnem have gone 23 and four straight up. Only 16 and 11 against the spread. That's why Dave and I advocating that if you like it, maybe you make a couple of two leg parlays. I went with the three leg parlay.
Dave, all three favorites. Stanford over Pitt, SMU over Syracuse and you like Virginia Tech as well. Even on the spread, put them in as a money line parlay. That playing plus paying plus 248, Dave at hard rock, built it on on draft Kings right around plus 240. So shop around, build it for your best payout. But that I think rolling with chalk in the ACC tournament beginning today. Because this feels like it's got potential. I can't believe it. Finals preview in the NBA. I don't want to say written all over it because I know that Denver and O.K.C. is going to have plenty to say your Cleveland Cavaliers will as well. And maybe even the Detroit pistons in New York next. But you can make a case that the two best teams right now because of Celtics now with Jason Tatum back to be 43 and 21 of this juncture.
And to do that, but what all but two games without Jason Tatum is pretty darn impressive. And the spurs 47 wins. And with the third betting choice to win MVP and win B. What do you make of this now? Because you could actually see this matchup come June. Two of the best teams actually the two best teams since February first day. As far as net rating, a lot of other different statistical categories. And we get a meeting of the minds tonight to a great head coaches. The line pretty much unchanged in most places. Right now the spurs laying three at Fandall and it bet rivers up to three and a half draft Kings William Hill many of the other shops across the landscape. Total is also kind of in topsy turvy here. I think that's the hysterical part is watching kind of where this has been. 222 and a half has kind of been where we are a little up and down as far as the money goes. But as of right now, I'm going to be a fan.
If I had to lean for people looking for a play on it, I think I'd have to lean to the spurs just defensively the way they've been and anxious to see the Celtics on the road and what they're able to do resounding win. As you mentioned over my Cleveland Cavaliers over the weekend. Let's say what they do for an encore here and one of the featured games of the night. By the way, the spurs are the fourth betting choice to win the NBA title here at eight to one. Right. Cavaliers 13 to one. That's a big demarcation line there. The Celtics now are the second betting choice behind. Okay. See a plus five 15 nuggets third betting choice at seven to one. Very quickly. Do you find value in that spurs number at eight to one? Because again, theoretically that the third betting choice to win the West and if these seeds held or at least the odd seeds held, the Celtics would be favored over the spurs in a seven game match up there. So they'd be underdogs, potentially three times. But at eight to one, do you think there's any value still in that number? Absolutely. And again, if you also want to look towards where we are in the Western conference overall, if those playoffs were to start today,
we know that San Antonio would play that seven seed, the play in game winner. I don't think we would feel any resistance from the sons, the Clippers, Golden State, Portland, those are your four teams in the play in tournament. And then looking at a potential between Minnesota and how about that second round match up though there, but Minnesota Denver, if the playoffs started today, that winner would go on to play San Antonio. So it might even be intrigued to see or kind of play it out hypothetically with the series prices would be we would assume they'd be a short dog in a Western conference final against the thunder. And then we just kind of have to see, man, would you favor the spurs? If it's the NBA finals right now and probably a little bit more goes into the result tonight, would you favor the spurs in an NBA finals match up over the Celtics, the Pistons, both were neither. Oh, it'd be so hard because you'd like to say the Celtics fully loaded, Ben there, Jason Tatum. That could be as close to a pick them.
Right. But but if San Antonio were to get out of there and beat whether it's Denver and or OKC or both of them to get to the final, that could change the betting perception of San Antonio against the Celtics. If it were the fully loaded Boston Celtics, but I think you're on to something there that that could be as close to a pick them price. If it was San Antonio in Boston today, we'll see that tonight plays out and you know those two teams are saying, all right, we'll see you down the road here potentially. If you're good enough, I will see you again in a couple of months. If you're paying full price for gas, you do not have to do that any longer people. We talked about it all the time is a free. But I don't know November when you get the excitement of the college basketball season. Still have the NFL going on. You can make a case for that as well. But conference tournament time. A man. This has got to be right up there close to for you for Christmas day. Doesn't it? Oh no no about it. And you get all these teams in action as well. You get even more opportunity than in the NCAA tournament. You get just so much rate action all day and all night. And that's a big thing that I'm a junkie for as well. For those that know me. I'm always talking
about man. We could use a random college basketball game in a Y right now. You don't need those games in a Y because out here in Lovila as Vegas. We've got these like random 9 10 p.m. Pacific time tip times all day and all night hoops for the rest of the week. I love it. You do. And you also love day baseball cannot wait for those supposed to be coming here. Why do we not have day baseball coming? Okay. It's the tournament that started the very first one are Horizon League tournament. They find ways to space this thing out. Spread it out. But we will finally crown a champion tonight. Top seed rights tape in action against Detroit Mercy. Detroit Mercy. Actually, I think a great upwards of 10 to 1 to win the Horizon League before the tournament started. Handicap for you. The Horizon League champ being crowned tonight. And Detroit has been on a tear with their three point shooting. If you look at conference playing conference play only Detroit actually led the Horizon League in terms of three point shooting. I just feel like right status of more complete team and I was willing to lay it with them
with this right state squad. They've been able to a really good job in terms of just being playing being able to play that moderate tempo. And they're also at their best away from them. And games played away from home. They entered it in USA shooting 40.6% from three point range. They do a nice job executing down lows or top 75 team with regards to two point shooting percentage. And that's where I really think that this game is going to be won. Detroit actually gives themselves seconded their chances. Top 80 team in terms of their overall offensive rebound percentage. But for this rubber Morris team there top 75 team with their two point shooting percentage in Detroit. They're outside the top to 50 with this regard. Also outside the top to 50 in terms of opponents to point shooting percentage as well with this right state team. They've been able to have Michael Cooper coming off the bench. Give the team 14 plus points per game. They feel like they're shall we say the most versatile team in the conference. They're able to play fast. They're able to play slow. I think that they do enough here to be able to get the job done. I like right state laying the number to be able to cut down the nets when the rise of the link during a minute. Make it to the NCAA tournament.
All right, Greg. This is kind of a home or pick for me. So I'm hoping you match up here when you look at the match amplitude between Sienna and Marymount or Marymount because I was born in Troy, New York, lived in Latham, New York. These are small towns very close to Sienna College. Can we make a case for Sienna today against Marymount taking the points? And one of the legends out there in that area of the country, Jerry McNamara, the coach of the CNSC. I think it's going to be able to get it done. Yes, I like Sienna here outright on the money line. Now for Marymount, they've been able to do a great job with their interior defense. They're actually a top 25 team and shop block percentage. They've been a top 35 team, mature opponents to point shooting percentage and they do little things. Well, Marymount is actually fifth in the country in terms of free throw shooting percentage at 70 and a half percent. What's the best way to be able to guard against that? Don't let the team get to the free throw line. That's exactly what Sienna does. 23rd in the country in terms of free throw percentage on a per-fuelable basis by their opponents. Additionally for Sienna, they've got the edge
down low. One thing Marymount does not do is rebound. They're outside the top 35 in the country in terms of rebound percentage. Sienna is a top 115 team in terms of their rebound percentage. Oh, it's Sienna. They also shoot about 76% at the free throw line with Marymount. They also do a nice job in terms of generating turnovers. Top 35 team with that regard. How does Sienna be? How does Sienna unfoil that? Well, Sienna is a top 35 team in terms of not turning the ball over. They do the little things. Well, I was seeing this total opening up more around like a 129, 130, which I like the under one. Once you get down to like a 127, think that's got a little bit too far there. But think that Sienna represents the Metro Atlantic and the NCAA tournament. I like them on the money line. All right, Greg. Maybe the most anticipated part of the big 12 tournament might be their glass floor where they can basically make any kind of court they want with just the touch of a button on an iPad. But one of the great trends in this big 12 tournament is opening
round underdogs. They are what 17 and four, I believe, per Steve McAnon in these opening round games here for probably the better part of the last decade. Do we find ourselves in a scenario backing a double digit dog in the second opening round game between Utah and the crime cats of Cincinnati? I do because with Cincinnati, they have been a great defense this year. They are 17th in the country in terms of points a lot on a per-possession basis. But if you look at games played away from home, they are giving up over 18 and a half points more per one of our possessions away from home rather than at home. And that also leads into the over as well. The sodals around 138, 138, half of Utah team has in the top 30 with their 3-point shooting percentage away from home. They've been bombing at about 37 and a half percent from the outside. Now, if you want me to sell you on this great Utah defense, well, it's not great. They're outside the top 320 in terms of points a lot on a per-possession basis. It has not traveled very well. And for Cincinnati, to the credit ever since they got just a little James back, they've been a better offensive team.
They're outside the top 200 terms of points per possession overall for the season, but James is a 44 percent 3-point shooter that helps the team out a little bit. But with this running youth team, they do a relatively solid job in terms of being able to take care of the ball. They are themselves having a nine rebound per game guy in keynote us. I think it's good to be able to keep them active on the boards. And last time these two teams played go back about a month or so ago. Utah didn't win the game all right in since day, but they held within single digits. They got the cover. I think they get something similar here. So I like the over and the points with Utah. Okay, I'm kind of sad and a little melancholy that I'm not so pumped up for Syracuse to point in the ACC tournament later on today, taking on SMU. They are getting five here against the Mustangs, but as much as I love Adrian Autry as a player as a coach, it's been a little bit lacking here. Any love for my cues today in the first round against SMU? Or is it all over after today? I wish I had good news for you. I really don't have a lot of good news for you. It's
better off for the Syracuse team to say the least. Like towards the beginning part of the season, Syracuse was actually playing some great defense. Like in non-conversed play, they were top 40 team in terms of points to allow it on a perp possession basis. They are blocking shots and it's toilet pulled for them ever since then. Now outside the top one 15 in terms of points to allow it on a perp possession basis, they do catch a little bit of a break. BJ Edwards, one of the top guys for SMU, the number three score is currently out for the scene, but for Syracuse, I just don't have any faith in this scene doing the little things. They don't grab second and third chances. They're well outside the top one 50 terms of offensive rebound percentage. And let's say that they go to the free throw line. They should 64.9% at the free throw line. That is a bottom 10 mark in all of college basketball. And I recognize that maybe this is a little bit of a bigger spread than a one-possession game. They're starting at five. So right right about two possessions, but even in a spread like this, you just can't trust in the team that is a bad free throw shooting team. For SMU, they're still a top 35 team in terms of their three
point cheating process. And for Syracuse, games way to way from them. They're line teams to shoot over 35.9% from three. We'll only lay the five-year with SMU with a total of 156. I just don't just don't trust Syracuse to do their part with this total as well. So I'm also in on the under. Love it Greg. If this were college football season, it would be an auto bet to the over between the Terrapins and Maryland and the ducks of Oregon. I think we might be able to get there in the iteration on the hardwood as we open Big 10 conference play, at least in the tournament in the United Center. Is that where you sighed and any kind of insight as to why even though this is a lower total, the over might be the play. Absolutely. And you've got a pair of teams that have been slowing down a little bit more here in conference playing for Oregon. It has been a rough off. Fencer outside the top one 75 of Terrapins score down a perpossession basis. Maryland is outside the top two 75 themselves, but both of these teams are going to give themselves second chances of score. That's the one thing that these teams have done an okay job of. Maryland's right around
93rd in terms of offensive rebound percentage. Oregon is right around 95th and these two offenses have had a tough time taking care of the ball. They're both outside the top three 35 in terms of turnover center perpossession basis. Guess what neither of these defenses do. Generate turnovers for you. Both of these defenses are outside the top two 30 in terms of points allowed on a perpossession basis. Maryland closer to about 300th with that regard. But I did like the fact that Andre Mills over the weekend for them had 30 points against Illinois for Oregon. They were lying behind Jackson Shell said in the back court got injured. They have not been the same ever since then and that's hurt them on offense. But they also hurt them on defense. And that's part of the reason why I'm also willing to take the points with Maryland. I think that this is a rather toss up game. We won't take four here with Maryland. And I like that one to be over. Will you be when you're running today? Are you going to be watching the games listening to the games? I mean, you got wall to wall basketball, right? Oh, absolutely. We're going to try to find a time in which we've got as little basketball on as possible. So I miss as little of the action as possible. But we've got the games on my phone. Have no worries, Aaron.

I know even Greg Peterson during the break as we were saying goodbye to Greg in the last segment. He's like, I love the daily diamond. Been back in our lives, Jensen. Let's get to it. The crack in the bat. Let's get that organ going. It's time for today's edition of the daily diamond. Did we determine if you're watching on Fando sports network? Who the guy is the animated picture is? Was it no one Ryan? Was it Paul Schien's? Do we have an idea of who we guess that delivery is? It's not Paul Schien's. I know that for sure. I'll have to go back and watch it earnestly the next time we do it. But Paul Schien's is your headliner for our Pittsburgh pirates preview and Captain America at last night, seven punchouts in four scoreless settings, a remarkable performance and a crescendo. We hope into a semi final start upcoming here
over the weekend for team USA into the knockout round. I wrote for our visa in MLB bedding and when I wrote it, Dave, I wanted to make sure that people understood it. That's why I started the pitching section of the pirates preview with believe it when you read it, the pirates can have one of the top rotations in baseball. Yes, the easy answer is you have the best picture right now in baseball arguably in Paul Schien's. Fresh off the NLSI young could he be a threat to win nationally MVP? Well, we'll kind of see how it all transpires. That wouldn't necessitate the pirates actually contending not only for a playoff spot. Dare I say for the National League Central? I don't know if I want to get that far yet. But when you run out Schien's Mitch Keller, Braxton Ashcraft, Bubba Chandler, the free agent signing of Hosey or Kedi, I think a little under the radar, but could provide immense amount of return on a by-low option. Back end of the bullpen
editions, getting Gregory Soto as a free agent. As you well know from the New York Mets, he will set up for Dennis Santana who took over closing duties from David Bednar after the trade to the New York Yankees. Mason Montgomery coming over in a three-team deal, left-handed set-up man. Brandon Lau was the big ticket item there when that three-team trade involving the Tampa Bay race was cemented. And Dave, this is finally a pirate lineup that might have more cannonballs loaded in the cannon than what we've seen from the league's worst offense statistically last year. O'Neill Cruz has been swinging the bat absolutely spectacularly for the Dominican Republic here in the World Baseball Classic. That's a great omen for this group. But now Dave, when I look at this lineup and I'll get your initial thoughts on it, they did try and swing for the fences on cowshoorber. I don't think we in the industry thought that that was going to be something viable. But you go out and get Lau, a left-handed power bat for anyone that's watched games at PNC Park,
the short porch in right field is going to be very advantageous for left-handed power bats. What else did they do? They went out and they signed Ryan O'Hern who spent last year, at least the last half with the San Diego Padres after the trade deadline, another left-handed power bat. Marcelo Zuna was out there forever, free agent signing in February. And now you have the makings, Dave, with Cruz potentially leading off. Brandon Lau hitting second, mainstay and one of the faces of the franchise and Brian Reynolds, fellow Vandy Boy as well, in that three spot. O'Hern now in the cleanup spot, Marcelo Zuna, you start to get a little bit of semblance of we've got resistance now for this Pittsburgh pirate offense. Can it materialize, Dave? That is the question. If they get more offense, they are loaded for bear on that pitching staff. If everyone can remain healthy here for the beginning of the season. Well, this one gets me excited. And again, our steam producer Joe Friesell is doing a compilation
of all of our wagers before we get to opening day. And again, as a network, I think we're very transparent. You and I are going to do our part right here on Vison by the books. And we will detail in earnest every single features wager that we have made before we get to opening day. So once we are done with the daily diamond going through every single team, you will see exactly what we've done. This is one of the wagers I made over a month ago at 76 and a half wins. That win total, we've already got two wins in equity here because it's up to 78 and a half. And so reason why we do some of these exercises and look to each the wrong, I'm not telling anybody to bet early, I normally do bet win totals early in both football and baseball for this very reason, trying to get ahead of the numbers before they knew they moved to get some equity. We've got it here in Pittsburgh. Since then I was with you. I love the pitching of this rotation potentially, because you do have to have good health. I don't think although the rumors will always come up if
they get off to a slow start about schemes, I just can't imagine they ever deal him. Let alone, you know, before you, I know you get a Kings ransom, but like, what would you be resetting for? You have the guy that is arguably outside of Terrick's school will right there is 11a. You take your pick for the best pitcher in Major League Baseball. You got him in Pittsburgh right now. You've upgraded the lineup as you detailed here, Jensen, to being a Major League lineup this year. Not only do I think that win total over 76 and a half, if you haven't hopped in at 78 and a half, I wouldn't advise against it. I still think that's an overplay there to be viable to win the division at six to one, Jensen. Remember, this was a 71 win team last year without a professional lineup without depth of the rotation. So is that worth 10 wins? I believe it could be. If you can get into the mid 80s in this division, is that good enough potentially to challenge at six to one in the central? Oh, I think they're a viable playoff contender if that happens. And this all sets the
stage to and I don't want to bury the lead, but you're looking at one of the top odds options in the nationally rookie of the year market in Connor Griffin, the number one prospect in all a baseball is really pushing hard for Don Kelly, the manager there now in Pittsburgh taking over for Derek Shelton last year in May. There has been a lot of smoke around Connor Griffin potentially making this opening day roster. Even if that's not the case, I can't imagine that he is held down at AAA Indianapolis for far too long. It would end up being one of those situations where they would bring him up once they have that extra year of service time control with the club. But I wrote in our MLB betting guide way back when Connor Griffin wins NL rookie of the year and the pirates make the playoffs. That was my bold take for the Pittsburgh pirates. And this was even before we saw Connor Griffin start the way he did in spring training. Now, this is also a
division when we handicap it overall, Dave, you have to give credit where it's due. I don't know if anyone saw the brewers winning the most games in the regular season last year. I had picked them to win the central. I did not expect them to be that pace car there for the regular season. Remember the Cubs, even with the injury issues they had last year, still won 92 games. And I would gather and I would even posture that the Cubs had as one of one of the better off seasons. If not one of the best off seasons in all of baseball, getting Alex pregnant as the marquee signing on the position player side, they under the cover of night made some of the best bullpen additions to lengthen out. And remember, they also made a big trade with the Marlins getting Edward Cabrera. They had to give up one of their big prospects and Owen Casey to do it. But I think the pirates, I don't see them finishing in the basement. Remember also last year, we had a handful of these teams go worse to first, the Toronto Blue Jays. Great example. In the American League East, they end up winning the division last year after finishing in the seller just two years ago. Not saying the
pirates do that here in the nationally central. But I don't think that at this win total, even up, I think it was 76 and a half when we wrote the betting guide up to 78 and a half in some spots, they got a real shot to finish above 500 for the first time and what feels like forever. I wonder if it's going to be a four horse race. If the Reds are going to be up there with them and with the Brewers, can they have the staying power, the Cubs, we do believe would be there. As you mentioned, even with the injuries, but yeah, that we've already got two wins to the good here in the equity department up from 76 and a half to 78 and a half. So feel pretty good about that going in. I did not play the plus 250 price point of making the postseason just because I am curious how this race is going to play out when we get to the trade deadline, who makes moves to stay in the race, who stands pat, but I do like the moves that they've made in the off seasons, certainly upgrading that lineup. It should be better days for the Jolly Roger this year in Pittsburgh. Sharp plays, they were founded back in 2011. We talk about transparency here on these and by the
books. That's what they do as well. It's all documented. All their picks, records and logs posted publicly at sharp plays dot com for all performance auditing. So it's something very important in this space for a lot of the people that make claims that might be a little bit outlandish and just in fact, not true. So that's why the sharp plays are going to move, make those moves that sportsbooks take notice of. They are respected, watched and feared to start winning with them at sharp plays dot com. We are going to begin the daily gridiron to get you ready for the NFL draft in April. My goodness, what a great time of the year. Let's start off with the best team in football. The Seattle Seahawks there and on the microscope. Next, I'll be some other books. That's pure automotive joy. I'm Peter, the owner of Muscle Car Junior. It really is one of the best sports times of the year with the free agency period going on in the NFL. We're getting ready for major league baseball while we have the World Baseball Classic going on. College basketball, conference tournaments going on. There's so much sports to ingest and you try to get ahead of the numbers and I know some people are going to go my goodness. The NFL just never sleeps. It doesn't. And when they post numbers out there,
sometimes they can be actionable very early. Let's start off to the victor go the spoils with the first edition of the daily grid iron to get you ready for the April draft. This is the daily grid iron. I missed that music in our lives right there. Little jingle just says football to me. So Jensen when we talk about this and again, this is in context of we're going to break down every single team as we get up to next month's draft. So it's going to go by pretty quickly likely been doing with the daily diamond. You get you ready for opening day and major league baseball. So let's talk about the Seahawks here because they are the reigning defendings and we felt like that would be a good place to start. We saw the big Kenneth Walker defection. And again, you and I talked about this and we go back to the day after when they did the parade if you remember that in Seattle. And John Schneider got a, I don't, you know, he was having a good time. Let's put it that way. And he got up there in the podium and it was very awkward with he and Kenneth Walker.
And I went there. I was like, Oh, they're not going to bring him back. This thing is kind of done if you read the writing in the wall. And it was and they did not want to put the franchise or transition tag on him and let him go and free agency yesterday to Kansas City. I think we have to start there for the Super Bowl champs and a team that had a win total of eight and a half last year. So they won 14 games in the regular season. Sure did. They will have three picks upcoming in the first three rounds for total picks in where we are for the draft if it started today. So obviously they will pick 30 second last pick of the first round last pick of the second last pick of the third and right now last pick in the six off season to date here Dave. Obviously we have some departures most notably the Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker the third safety Kobe Bryant who went to the Chicago bears. And then William off a one of the edge rushers. So we saw kind of a run on that a little bit goes to the Cincinnati Bengals for three years 60
million now. The additions or I guess you retain Rashid Shaheed first and I think it's such a dynamic weapon that they had for him opposite of Jackson Smith and Jigba. They're cornerback Josh Job here three years 24 million Drake Thomas and then tendering your boy George Halani there for a little over a million dollars. If I were to look at it overall date the first thing I thought of was when I saw the Alec Pierce numbers I'm like my God not that not that Jackson Smith and Jigba will be in that that realm he'll be farther up the line but I'm just looking at age of signing those four you know year deals for the mega dollars. So if I'm looking at Seattle right now and what's happened with Jackson Smith and Jigba. John Schneider not tendering or not wanting to bring you know Kenneth Walker back on the on the franchise tag and obviously they have bigger fish to fry right now would you be entertaining a Jackson Smith and Jigba extension and I'll give you the top three and your boy CD Lamb in there at age 25 is is one of those kind of benchmarks here because
Jackson Smith and Jigba believe will turn 25. Let's see here wins his birthday. Okay it's not until next year as far as 2027 he is a young 24 year old but right now just the top three wide receiver contracts here CD Lamb four years 136 just in Jefferson four for 140 Jamar Chase four for 161 so you're looking in that 34 million dollar average annual value with what you've seen from JSN would that be a priority for you to lock him up right now knowing what the market already is for wide receivers here this offseason and what we just saw yesterday. Absolutely number one with the bullet that be a priority for me if I'm John Schneider we talk about GM's that we trust how he roseman always goes to the top of the list I you think you might take a side seat right there to John Schneider I love the way he manages his team we've talked about it a lot here and again I thought the writing was on the wall for Kenneth Walker here that they
were not going to overpay and look I think Kenneth Walker is a great fit for Kansas City that I'm not taking away from the player the guy was a Super Bowl MVP for a reason and he did that in the playoff run without Zach Schrobernay when he went down with the ACL but just knowing the way he operates he was not going to overspend at that position I think he will for JSN and the point is if you go back just 365 to right now before free agency this time last year with Seattle they went oh my well what are they what's John Schneider doing you don't have a quarterback right we don't we don't know there's going to be same Donald yet right well he's just wiping out the wide receiver room what are they going to do oh you're going to get rid of your your stud receivers here in tower lockets going to see a later send him off to Tennessee and you're going to let DK Meccav go to Pittsburgh well they don't have any receivers who with JSNs and I ready to be a number one he knows exactly what he's doing and then you don't do go out and get Sam Donald on a pretty team friendly deal and that lets you go get other guys for that defense to really bolster it I love the way he operates
he's going to pay for JSN that's going to be a guy that stays there long term there's no way they're going to let him out of the Pacific Northwest like they let Kenneth Walker leave there's certain guys no matter what you've done that they're going to say we're not going to let that guy out of the building this guy we can so it's not just George Hwani you got to hope that Zach Trevor Nate comes back healthy and I do think they might even be looking into the draft now late first round for running back replacement at a much cheaper rookie deal this is the way John Schneider operates and this is why he's successful and why Seattle is successful they do not buck from their trends in their roster formation now look I don't want to play the over 10 and a half and I know that people are going to be waiting for the other shoe to drop and Sam Donald go they still kind of say yeah but you won the Super Bowl yeah but you take away those yeah buts for me I don't know what else you need to prove once you win the ultimate prize and the ultimate team sport to get this done the way they did but now a team that was a play on for me last year eight and a half adjusted win total over nine and a half we cash all those tickets easily and I made those bets
early kind of as I like to do and I'm going to get to one of my bets that I made here later on in the program today and I made these about the same time last year in Seattle I could only play the under 10 and a half gents and because of that inflated price because of what San Francisco looks like they're doing and because what the Rams are doing specifically I'm looking in their divisions first and foremost here and you know I like to look at divisional wins here and I do not think it's going to be the same way that it was for Seattle last year not say it was easy because it wasn't it came down in the last game in the regular season to win at San Francisco to wrap up the division so nothing was easy for this team despite winning 14 games but I can think that 10 and 7 is an under a ticket if you made me play and I have not played this team here gents and I love what they do and yet it can still be successful and not look as good as it did last year it's it's almost impossible to look better than it did a year ago. Totally agree I would look at their road games we like to do this exercise just when win totals eventually will be there and and kind of once they're
reposted after the draft is completed notable road games outside of the NFC West at Denver at Las Vegas at Philadelphia at Washington and at Carolina which might be a sneaky spot if that is a a early body clock game we'll see how the schedule makers put it out there notable home games here Dave and we'll see what happens for the opener well technically won't be the opener because of the game in Australia but as far as their season opener candidates for that opening game the Chicago Bears the LA Chargers the Kansas City Chiefs the New York Giants your Dallas Cowboys and obviously the NFC West opponents here so I absolutely agree even not even knowing with the progression of the schedule be date wise I would have to decide with you early if there's a lean on a win total under 10 and a half would be where I would be as well and that would be respectable if you went 10 and 7 in this division and the Rams are the favorites to win this division
for a reason and I don't think what you and I believe the Niners are going anywhere so to me I'm looking at how many wins do you get in the division Arizona looks very down right so so you'd like to be able to bookmark two and then if you the best you could do there maybe splits you're looking at four wins in the division you'd have to get seven wins out of it now the good news is Mike McDonald is fantastic on the road this is one of the best if not the best coach right now is taking his team on the road and winning but is that sustainable for a 30 in a row in the Pacific Northwest I have my doubts to me that would be an underplay today on that win total 10 and a half but a fascinating roster construction and John Schneider is normally not a guy to want to bet against or Mike McDonald that's why I did not do that a year ago all right we've got a lot to get to here coming up here in the next hour JVT Jonathan Vontobl right there with money moves and storm each and every day in the network he's going to join us to talk all things NBA and also you and I love it we need it in our lives a little chaos we got some chaos candidates coming up for you next right here on V some other books
